Installing External Snap Rings
- Select the correct plier (A or B) with tips that fit snugly into the snap ring holes.

Nonslip footwear is also highly recommended. Other equipment such as ear, head, and body protection may also be necessary depending on your work, work environment, and other equipment.
- Dress properly for automotive servicing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and keep hair, clothing, gloves, hoses, and tools away from any moving parts during use.
- ALWAYS know and understand the specific safety warnings and instructions for your vehicle before using this kit. Use the correct fluids, pressures, adapters, etc. for your vehicle. Make sure the vehicle is fully supported and parked before beginning any work. Take care to never touch any heated surface with exposed skin.
- ALWAYS be mindful of the control arm, snap rings, and other components under tension as they are released. Be mindful of where components might fly or land at all points during use.
- DO NOT overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
- Maintain this product. Check for misalignment, binding, wear, or other damage before use. If any damage is detected, repair or replace the problematic components before further use.
- DO NOT force this tool or the snap ring/circlip that is engaged with the tool. Use penetrating oil if they bind too tight.

Operation
Installing External Snap Rings
- Select the correct plier (A or B). The tips of the plier to be used should fit snugly into the holes on the circlip or snap ring to be installed. And the plier should easily reach where you want to install a snap ring.
- Check the groove where the snap ring is to be installed for gunk or grime. If any, use the pick (C) or hook (D) to clean the groove. Also, you could use them to pick up a snap ring trapped in a pile of gunk or grime.
- Fit the snap ring onto the tips of the plier.
- Gently squeezing the handling of the plier to expand the snap ring, fit and slide the snap ring into its groove, securing it in place.
- Visually inspect or gently tap the snap ring with a mallet to make sure it’s secured in place. If not, adjust as needed.
- Remove the plier and stow everything away.
Removing External Snap Rings
- Choose a plier of the correct size, adjust the tip opening and inert the tips into the snap ring to be removed.
- Gently squeeze the handles till the snap ring becomes loose and remove it from the groove.
Installing Internal Snap Rings
- Select the correct plier (A or B). The tips of the plier to be used should fit snugly into the holes on the circlip or snap ring to be installed. And the plier should easily reach where you want to install a snap ring.
- Internal snap rings usually have holes that are more apart than those on external snap rings. To modify the plier for the increased distance:
- Loosen the nut fastening the plier and separate the two pieces.
- Align the bolt with the hole on the left and bolt the two pieces together
- Check the groove where the snap ring is to be installed for gunk or grime. If any, use the pick (C) or hook (D) to clean the groove. Also, you could use them to pick up a snap ring trapped in a pile of gunk or grime.
- Open the plier’s jaws by squeezing the handles together, and insert the tips of the plier into the holes or gaps in the snap ring.
- Squeezing the handles to compress the snap ring, feed the snap ting the groove inside the bore where you want the snap ring to be installed.
- Gently release the handles so that the snap ring fits into the groove in the housing or bore.
- Visually inspect that the snap ring is securely in place. If not, adjust as needed.
- Remove the pliers and stow everything away.
Removing Internal Snap Rings
- Choose a plier of the correct size. If no one matches, follow Step 2 above to modify the tip distance.
- Insert the tips pf the plier into the hole on the snap ring.
- Gently squeeze the handles to compress the snap ring until it becomes loose from the grooves where it sat.
- Remove the snap ring.
Maintenance
- Clean with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent or solution after use. Do not rinse them or use abrasive materials or caustic chemicals.
- Periodically check the set for any wear, misalignment, breakage or coarse movement. Repair or replace before resuming use.
- Stow away after each use, being sure the pick and the hook are in the storage case. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and inaccessible to children.
