Installation
Note: This product can only be installed on the driver’s side of the car.
-
Remove the tailgate cable by pulling on the spring clip and using a T50 torx wrench (G) to remove the cable bolt.
-
Apply a small amount of threadlocker (I) to the threads of the bolt removed in the previous step.
Then, insert the bolt through the hole in the upper ball mount plate (B) and tighten it with the T50 torx wrench. -
Attach the cable back to the cable bolt.
-
Thread the bolt through the hole in the lower ball mount plate (C) and into the tailgate fastener (F).
Ensure that the notches on the bolt are facing towards the lower ball mount. -
Align the tailgate fastener with the slot in the tailgate, insert the tailgate fastener into the slot, and insert the M8 bolt (E). Turn it 90° to align the tailgate fastener’s notches with the edges of the slot. Use the provided M5 hex wrench (H) to tighten the bolt while pulling out on the lower ball mount plate.
-
Once the lower ball mount is securely attached, attach the small end of the shock (A) to the lower ball mount plate.
-
Attach the larger end of the shock to the upper ball mount plate.
-
Remove the bottle opener on the driver’s side of the tailgate by using a T30 torx wrench to unscrew the two screws attaching it. If the bottle opener is not removed, it will interfere with the shock and prevent the tailgate from closing.
