INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
F9700 SERIES FIRE-RATED SURFACE VERTICAL ROD EXIT DEVICE

Assembly

MAIN CHASSIS & TOP AND BOTTOM LATCHES MOUNTING SCREWS

  • For steel prepared doors, drill/tap and use supplied machine screws.
  • For thin gauge metal, non-prepared doors or for labeled wood doors use thru bolts.
  • See template for details on mounting screws.

Installation

  1. DOOR HANDING GUIDE:Taymor-F9700V-Safety-Rated-Vertical-Rod-Exit-Device-fig- \(5\)
  2. Head assembly and end plate install
  3. Step 1: Install the head assembly to the door with 4 screws as shown
  4. Step 2: Install the end plate to the door with 2 screws as shownTaymor-F9700V-Safety-Rated-Vertical-Rod-Exit-Device-fig- \(6\)
  5. Top latch install
  6. Step 1: Attach the top latch mounting plate on the door with screws.
  7. Step 2:
  8. Attach the top latch to the top latch mounting plate.
  9. Attach the top latch on the door with screws.

  11. Bottom latch install
  12. Step 1: Attach the bottom latch set to the fixing set.
  13. Step 2 : Install the bottom latch set to door with 2 screws as shown.Taymor-F9700V-Safety-Rated-Vertical-Rod-Exit-Device-fig- \(11\)
  14. Bottom strike install
  15. Step 1 : Drill ∅ 25/32* (20 mm), depth 25/32″ (20 mm) on floor.
  16. Step 2: Install the bottom strike into floor as shown.
  17. Rod install
  18. Step 1 : Attach the top rod (long rod) to the top latch.
  19. Step 3: The bottom rod should be engaged with the bottom latch sleeve.
  20. Step 2: Attach the top rod to the tube adapter on the head assembly.
  21. Step 4: Attach the bottom rod (long rod) to the tube adapter on the head assembly.

Meets California Building Code (2013) Sec. 11B-309.4. “Operable parts shall be operable with one hand and shall not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. The force required to activate operable parts shall be 5 pounds (22.2N) maximum”.
