Power Source

Open the battery cover, insert two AAA batteries (sold separately) properly into the positive and negative poles of battery slot, then close the battery cover along the slot.

Power Switch/Test Button

  • Power On: Press and hold the button until it turns on green, the flash is switched on.
  • Test: After powering on, the green light blinks to indicate that the flash is recycling, which cannot be tested. After a few seconds, the green light is constant on to indicate recycle done, then press the button once to fire a testing flash.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the button until it turns off, the flash is switched off.

Optical Trigger Button

Press this button to switch among optical S1 / optical S2 / turn off optical mode.
S1 and S2 both have indicators, the indicator of which turned on means which optical trigger function is on, while indicator of which turned off means which optical trigger function is off.

Optical S1 Mode
When the optical S7 indicator S1 is on, the flash is in optical S1 mode, so that it can function as an optical S1 secondary flash with optical sensor in M manual flash mode. With this function, the flash will fire synchronously when the main flash fires, the same effect as that by the use of wireless triggers. This helps create multiple lighting effects.

Optical S2 Mode
When the optical S2 indicator S2 is on, the flash is in optical S2 mode, so that it can also function as an optical S2 secondary flash with optical sensor in TTL flash mode. This is useful when cameras have pre-flash function. With this function, the flash will ignore a single “preflash” from the main flash and will only fire in response to the second, actual flash from the main unit.

Power Adjust Dial
iM30 has 7 adjustable power steps: 7/64, 7/32, 7/16, 7/8, 7/ 4, 7/2 and Full.
You can adjust the desired power step by simply turn ing the power adjust dial according to the camera’s aperture value, shooting distance and ISO value.
