-
The AC adapter supplied with this product is the only adapter approved for use with this product.
Using an improper AC power source may cause equipment damage, fumes, electric shock, or fire and may result in personal injury or death. -
Connect AC power cord properly to the AC Adapter and to the wall outlet. When inserting the AC plug, make sure there is no dust or dirt on the terminals. Insert the female plug into the AC Adapter and the male plug into the wall outlet until both plugs are fully seated. Incomplete engagement may cause fuming, electric shock, equipment damage, or fire and may result in personal injury or death. Disconnect the AC power cord when the stripper is not being used.
-
Do not disassemble or modify this product or the AC adapter in any way. General Information
Introduction
This product is designed to remove the outer coatings from optical fibers by using a thermally assisted mechanical stripping process. The fiber is first heated to expand the outer coating and decrease its adhesion to the fiber’s cladding. The fiber’s coating is then mechanically removed by using a pair of stripping blades.??

Set Up the Stripper
How to Replace the Blade
The SS110 is available with several different sizes of stripper blades that
can be purchased as optional accessories.
Before starting operation, attach a stripper blade according to the size of
the fiber to be stripped.
Remove the blade
- Put the SS110 into maintenance mode and retract the fiber holder base.
- Remove both the upper and lower blade screws with the included hex wrench. The stripper blades are identical, but the upper and lower blade screws are different. Do not re-install the blade screws in the wrong position.Store the stripper blades as pairs. Even if the stripper blades have the same coating/cladding diameters, the coating removal performance may deteriorate if the pairs are separated and used in combination with different stripping blades.
Attach the stripper blade
- Confirm the blade size, and loosely attach both blades in the correct mounting position.
- Tighten the lower blade screws with the hex wrench while pushing the stripper blade downward and backward.
- Close the top cover and fully tighten the upper blade screws while the upper and lower blades are engaged.
- Confirm that the stripping blades close with no gaps, and that there is no interference when opening and closing the top cover.
Heater height adjustment
This product is able to accommodate different fiber coating diameters by adjusting the height of the heating element. Adjusting the heat element height allows the fiber to be better aligned with the stripping blades.
How to adjust the heater height
Turning the adjustment screw on the right side of the device body will adjust the height of the heater.Match the height indicator to the diameter of the fiber coating being used.
After replacing the stripper blade, visually inspect to ensure the blades are installed correctly. Always perform the heater height adjustment when replacing the stripper blades to avoid fiber misalignment.?
Applicable fiber holder
Several different types of fiber holders can be used with the SS110. When using fiber holders, the fiber holder base must be sett up for each type of fiber holder. Applicable fiber holders
Positioning spacer
The location of the positioning spacer is different depending on the fiber
holder. Change the positon of the spacer according to the fiber holder being
used.
Fiber holder management (when using the FH110)
Only the FH110 series fiber holders are capable of configuring the stripping
settings on the SS110. Other fiber holders do not have RFID capability and
cannot take advantage of this feature.
If an FH110 is already registered, the stripper will recognize it and LED 3
will turn GREEN. The stripper will operate with the previously customized
stripping settings.
If an FH110 fiber holder is not registered, LED 3 will turn RED. To register
the FH110, use the provided software or switch over to regular Mode.
The setting value can be modified by connecting the stripper to a PC and using the provided software.
Fiber Holder Adapter Installation
The FH-70 series fiber holders can be used if the corresponding fiber holder adapter FH-70 is installed.

Use the stripper in a place where you can quickly access to disconnect the power cord.
Turning Power ON/OFF
- Remove any fiber before powering on the stripper.
- If a fiber is on the fiber holder base when the SS110 is turned on, the fiber will hit the device body and break.
- Slide the switch located on the right side of the device body to power on.
- The holder base will move to its home position.
Stripping
Coating residue will remain in the stripping area after operation. Remove the coating residue before the next operation.
-
Load the fiber holder onto the fiber holder base. If the appropriate mode is not selected, press and hold the F2 key to switch modes.
-
Close and push the top cover downward until it locks, then press the main switch. Heating for stripping will start and main switch will be lit to indicate that the stripping operation is in progress.
-
After the fiber was heated for the specified time, the fiber holder base will automatically travel backward to remove the coating.
When the stripping operation is finished, the main switch will blink 3 times. -
Open the top cover and fiber holder clamp cover, then remove the fiber holder from the SS110.
-
Remove and clean the coating residue from the upper and lower blades with the included brush BRS-03.
-
Remove the coating residue from the heater, rubber pad, and small gaps with the opposite side of the brush BRS-03.
Never leave coating residue under the fiber holder base.Always sweep toward the outside
Use caution – the heater is very hot! -
Pressing the main switch will return the fiber holder base to its home position.
Daily Maintenance
Clean the stripper blade, the surface of the heater, and the rubber pad with
