User Manual
Thank you for purchasing this high quality product. Please keep this manual in case you have any questions regarding its use. For more information, please visit our website or contact our customer service.
Use
- Allows audio output from a TV with HDMI-ARC or from an HDMI source connected to the HDMI input of the VAX01301.
- For stereo sound, output is possible via Bluetooth Audio and RCA.
- The audio EDID can be switched to force stereo or 5.1 sound.
- Input switching between player and TV sound (ARC) by button.
- Power supply via USB
Installation and operation
- Connect the HDMI output to the HDMI-ARC socket on the TV or to the HDMI input of a monitor or projector.
- If required, also connect the HDMI input to the output of a media player or computer.
- Optionally connect active speakers or a stereo system to the RCA output or a sound bar to the optical output.
- Set the desired audio mode: 2.0, 5.1 or ADV (Advanced).
- Connect the DC 5V socket to a USB power supply, e.g. a USB socket on the TV or a power outlet with a USB port or a USB power supply.
- Start the TV or projector and then the player, if available.
- Turn on the desired sound system or pair a Bluetooth headset (see next sec-tion).
Pairing with a Bluetooth device
Activate the pairing mode of your Bluetooth headset or speaker. When starting up, the VAX01301 searches in the first 10 seconds for a known Bluetooth device that has been paired before. If a Bluetooth device is found, it will pair automatically and the LED is lit continuously. If not, it searches for unknown Bluetooth devices for 60 seconds and then pairs it. If no device is found, VAX01301 ends the search and activates the standby mode. The LED blinks slowly then. To start a new search later, press the ARC / Pairing button for 3 seconds. The LED flashes rapidly then. The connection memory is also cleared.
Notes: Only one Bluetooth device can be paired at a time. If several Blue-tooth devices are in range, deactivate the unwanted devices. Sound trans- mission is only possible with stereo sound. Therefore, make sure that the TV and media player are set to PCM stereo as the audio format, not Dolby Digital etc. Otherwise, the Bluetooth headset will remain silent despite the pairing.
ARC switch
By briefly pressing ARC / Pairing, the ARC function can be switched on or off. When ARC (Audio Return Channel) is activated, the Extractor can output the sound of the TV, e.g. from TV app or the receiving tuner. If the sound from the player is to be played instead, ARC must be disabled. HDMI-ARC must be en- abled on the TV, many TVs do this automatically if you press the ARC / Paring button. If not, activate it manually on your TV. The TV’s internal speakers are then muted.
Switch for Audio EDID
This switch is used to signal the 1-1DMI player at the HDMI input which audio formats are supported. This allows the audio output to be limited to stereo or extended to other formats. For example, a player will also provide audio to a monitor or projector without speakers. Choose 2.0 to output sound via stereo RCA or Bluetooth.
Choose 5.1 to listen to sound via Toslink and HDMI, for example on a TV or sound bar. And choose Advanced if the TV or soundbar connected via HDMI supports higher audio formats and you want to enjoy them.
Connections and indicators

Volume control
The VAX01301 provides constant output levels. The volume of digital audio signals can only be adjusted after analogue conversion. This means that it can only be adjusted on the final device, e.g. headphones or hi-fi system. Many TV sets offer the possibility to control the sound system by means of a learning remote control.
