  • Check the unit for damages; do not use the iron in case of damages.
  • Make sure that the voltage of the mains corresponds to the operating voltage of the iron.

AUTOMATIC SWITCH-OFF FUNCTION
This model has two automatic switch-off modes.

  • If the iron remains still for 30 seconds in a horizontal position, the heating element of the iron will be switched off, and you will hear a sound signal. The unit will be switched on automatically once you resume ironing.
  • If the iron remains still for 8 minutes in a vertical position, the heating element of the iron will be switched off, and you will hear a sound signal. The unit will be switched on automatically once you resume ironing.

WATER SELECTION
Use tap water to fill the tank. If tap water is hard, it is recommended to mix it with distilled water in proportion 1:1, if tap water is too hard, mix it with distilled water in proportion 1:2 or use distilled water only.
FILLING THE WATER TANK
Before filling the tank with water make sure that the unit is unplugged.

  • Set the temperature control knob (11) to the “min” position and the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position (pic. 1).VITEK-VT-1234-W-Steam-Iron-FIG2

  • Pour the water into the water tank (10) with the beaker (15) (pic. 2), then close the lid (2).VITEK-VT-1234-W-Steam-Iron-FIG3

Notes:

  • Do not fill the water tank (10) with scented liquids, vinegar, starch solution, descaling reagents, chemical agents etc.
  • Do not exceed the “max” mark (13).
  • If you need to refill water during ironing, switch the iron off at first and unplug it.

IRONING TEMPERATURE

  • Always check the recommended ironing temperature indicated on the tag before ironing.
  • If there is no tag with recommended ironing temperature, but you know the type of fabric, use the following table to determine the proper ironing temperature.
Icons of the ironing temperature| Fabric type (temperature)
    ---|---
    | Synthetics, nylon, acrylic, polyester (low temperature)
    ••| Silk/wool (medium temperature)
    •••| Cotton/linen (high temperature)
    max| Maximum temperature
  • This table is only valid for smooth materials. Other types of fabrics (crimped, raised etc.) should be ironed at low temperatures.
  • Sort items by ironing temperature first: synthetics with synthetics, wool with wool, cotton with cotton etc.
  • The iron heats up faster than it cools down. For this reason it is recommended to begin ironing at low temperatures (for instance, synthetic fabrics).
  • After that, start ironing at a higher temperature (silk, wool). Cotton and linen items should be ironed last.
  • If an item is made of mixed fabrics, the iron should be set to the lowest ironing temperature (for instance, if an item is made of acrylic and cotton, it should be ironed at temperature used for acrylic ironing “•”).
  • If you cannot define the fabric structure, find a place that is hidden while wearing and select the ironing temperature experimentally (always start with the lowest temperature and raise it gradually until you get the desired result).
  • Corduroy and other fabrics that become glossy quickly should be ironed strictly in one direction (in direction of the pile) with little pressure.
  • To avoid the appearance of glossy spots on synthetic and silk fabrics, iron them backside.

SETTING THE IRONING TEMPERATURE

  • Place the iron on its base (8).
  • Insert the power plug into the main socket.
  • Turn the temperature control knob (11) to set the required ironing temperature: «•», «••», «•••» or «max» (pic. 3), depending on the type of fabric, the pilot lamp (9) will light up.
  • Once the soleplate (14) reaches the set temperature, the pilot lamp (9) will go out, you can start ironing.

Note: While the first switching on the heating element of the iron burns, therefore the occurrence of a foreign smell and a small amount of smoke is possible, it is normal.
WATER SPRAY

  • You can dampen the fabric by pressing the water spray button (5) several times (pic. 4).
  • Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank (10).

DRY IRONING

  • Place the iron on its base (8).
  • Insert the power plug into the main socket.
  • Turn the temperature control knob (11) to set the required ironing temperature: «•», «••», «•••» or «max» (pic. 3), depending on the type of fabric, the pilot lamp (9) will light up.
  • Set the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position (continuous steam supply is off) (pic. 1).
  • When the soleplate reaches the set temperature, the pilot lamp (9) will go out, you can start ironing.
  • After you finish ironing set the temperature control knob (11) to the “min” position.
  • Pull the power plug out of the main socket and let the iron cool down completely.

STEAM IRONING
Steam ironing is possible only if the temperature control knob (11) is set to the position «••», «•••» or «max». The iron is provided with an anti-drip valve, that stops the water supply if the soleplate temperature is too low, it prevents dripping from the openings of the soleplate (14). During the heating and cooling of the iron soleplate you will hear characteristic clicks of the anti-drip valve opening/closing, that indicate its normal operation.

  • Place the iron on its base (8).

  • Insert the power plug into the mains socket.

  • Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank (10).

  • Turn the temperature control knob (11) to set the required ironing temperature: «••», «•••» or «max», the pilot lamp (9) will light up.

  • When the soleplate (14) reaches the set temperature, the pilot lamp (9) will go out, you can start ironing.

  • Set the necessary steam intensity with the continuous steam supply knob (3).

  • In the continuous steam supply mode, steam
will be released from the openings of the soleplate (14) only if the iron is in a horizontal position. To stop the steam supply put the iron vertically or set the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position.

  • After you have finished using the iron, set the temperature control knob (11) to the “min” position, and the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position (pic. 1).

  • Pull the power plug out of the mains socket and let the iron cool down completely.

ATTENTION!
If steam is not supplied constantly during the operation, check whether the temperature control knob (11) and the steam supply knob (3) are set properly and whether there is enough water in the water tank (10).
BURST OF STEAM

  • The burst of steam function is useful when ironing of folds and can only be used at high ironing temperatures – in this case the temperature control knob (11) is set to «•••» or «max».
  • When the burst of steam button (4) is pressed, steam will go out of the soleplate intensively (pic. 5).

Note: To avoid water leakage from steam openings, press the burst of steam button (4) with a 4-5 sec. interval.

VERTICAL STEAM
The vertical steam function can be used only at high ironing temperatures (that is, when the temperature control knob (11) is set to “max”). Wait till the iron soleplate heats up, hold the iron vertically at the distance of 10-30 cm from the clothes, press the burst of steam button (4) with a 4-5 seconds interval, steam will be supplied from the soleplate openings intensively (pic. 6). To avoid dripping, do not perform vertical steaming when the soleplate is heating up (the pilot lamp (9) lights up).
Important information

  • Vertical steam is not recommended for synthetic fabrics.
  • To avoid fabric burning, do not touch it with iron soleplate while steaming.
  • Never steam clothes on a person as the steam temperature is very high, use a clothes hanger or a stand.
  • After you finish ironing, switch the unit off, wait until it cools down completely, then open the water inlet lid (2), turn over the iron and drain the remaining water.

STEAM CHAMBER CLEANING
To prolong the service life of the iron, we recommend cleaning the steam chamber regularly, especially in regions with hard tap water.

  • Set the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position (pic. 1).
  • Fill the water tank (10) till the “max” mark (13).

Note: Do not fill the water tank with scented liquids, vinegar, starch solution, descaling reagents, chemicals, etc.

  • Place the iron on its base (8).
  • Insert the power plug into the main socket.
  • Set the control knob (11) to the maximum soleplate temperature «max», the pilot lamp (9) will light up.
  • When the soleplate (14) reaches the set temperature, the pilot lamp (9) will go out. After reheating of the iron soleplate you can start cleaning the steam chamber.
  • Unplug the unit.
