INTENDED USE

The electric kettle is intended for heating and boiling potable (drinking) water. It must not be used for heating other liquids or foodstuffs.

The appliance can be installed and used safely only if the rules in this manual are followed.

The appliance is intended for private indoor use only.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
  2. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  3. Make sure that children do not play with the appliance.
  4. When cleaning parts that come into direct contact with food, follow the rules in section 8. Cleaning and maintenance.
  5. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may splash out.
  6. Use the kettle only with the base included in the kit.
  7. After use, the surfaces of heating components remain hot.
  8. Do not immerse the appliance in water.
  9. Warning! Never open the lid when water is boiling.
  10. Warning! Avoid pouring water over the power cord or the connector.
  11. Warning! Improper use of the appliance poses an injury risk.
  12. Caution! Risk of scalding! Do not touch hot surfaces of the appliance and be careful of steam emitted by the appliance. Hold the appliance only by its handle.
  13. If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorized service centre or a qualified individual, so as to avoid hazards.
  14. The appliance is intended for private indoor use only.
  15. Read the entire instruction manual and particularly the safety rules before using the appliance.
  16. Before connecting the appliance to a power outlet, make sure that the voltage in the outlet matches the supply voltage of the appliance.
  17. Use the kettle only to boil water, in accordance with its intended use.
  18. Do not turn on the kettle if it is filled with water above the maximum or below the minimum level. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may splash out. Do not turn the kettle on if it is empty.
  19. To prevent electrocution or electric shock, do not immerse the plug, the power cord or the appliance itself in water or other liquids.
  20. Do not hang the power cord over a table or sink edge.
  21. Do not use an extension cord. If, however, you are willing to take responsibility for such an action, use only an extension cord in good technical condition, with proper grounding, and suitable for supplying the amount of power the appliance needs.
  22. The power cord should not hang freely or touch any hot surface.
  23. Place the appliance at a safe distance from other kitchen appliances that become hot, such as an oven, electric cooker, gas burner etc.
  24. Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Make sure that the connection between the kettle and its base is not wet.
  25. Do not cover the appliance when it is switched on or when it is hot.
  26. This appliance is intended for indoor use only.
  27. Operate the appliance on a flat, stable and dry surface resistant to high temperatures.
  28. The steam emitted by the kettle when water is boiling is hot and may cause scalding.
  29. Exercise caution when using the product.
  30. If you intend to hand this appliance over to a third party, hand over this instruction manual as well.
  31. Do not leave the appliance unattended. Unplug it whenever it is not being used and before cleaning it.
  32. Never pull by the power cord to unplug the appliance. Instead, grasp the plug and remove the plug from the outlet.
  33. Fill the appliance with cold and fresh water only.
  34. If water is poured over the external electrical components of the kettle or of the base, dry them completely before you reconnect the appliance to the mains.
  35. Always unplug the appliance after use and if it shows any signs of improper functioning.
  36. Do not use the appliance if the power cord shows any signs of damage or if the appliance has been dropped on the floor.
  37. Keep the kettle’s lid closed when boiling water.
  38. The appliance is not fit for operation with an external timer or remote control system.
  39. Retain the instruction manual and the packaging, if possible.

Open the packaging and carefully take the appliance out. Make sure that the kit is complete and that its components are undamaged. Check that plastic parts are not broken and the power cord is not damaged. If you find that any components are missing or damaged, contact the vendor and do not use the appliance. Retain the packaging or dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

Attention! To keep children safe, do not leave packaging parts (plastic bags, cardboard boxes, expanded polystyrene elements etc.) freely accessible. Danger of suffocation!

OPERATION

Before use
  1. Unfold the power cord located in the base. Place the base on a dry, flat and stable surface.
  2. Fill the kettle with cold and fresh water so that the water does not exceed the maximum level.
  3. Connect the power cord to an electric outlet.

Attention! Before first use, fill the electric kettle with clean water without exceeding the maximum level and boil the water in accordance with point 7.4. Boiling water. Pour the water out and repeat the sequence 2–4 times.

Warning! Pouring water over the base of the kettle may result in an electric shock.

Turning the kettle on and off

Remember to boil clean water 2–4 times before the first use (point 7.4. Boiling water. ).

  1. In order to switch on the appliance, push the on/off (I/0) switch downward. The light indicator will light up. The appliance switches off automatically when the water comes to a boil.
  2. In order to turn the appliance off manually, push the on/off (I/0) switch upwards. The light indicator will go off.
Opening and closing the lid
  1. To open the lid, push the lid opening button.
  2. To close the lid, push the lid down against the kettle.
Boiling water
  1. Fill the kettle up to the desired level. Do not overfill the kettle, so that water does not splash out or spill. The water level indicator will help you draw a suitable amount of water. Always make sure that the water level is between the MIN and MAX marks. Do not forget to close the lid after you fill the kettle with water.
    Attention! Fill the appliance with cold and fresh water only.

  2. Place the kettle on its base and switch on the appliance as described above. When the water comes to a boil, the appliance will turn off automatically. Then you may remove the kettle from the base.

  3. After the appliance has cooled down for about 15–20 seconds, you may boil water again. While the appliance is cooling down do not push the switch (I/0), as doing so could damage the mechanism.

  4. The lid must be closed when boiling water.
    Attention! Do not remove the kettle from the base without switching it off first.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Basic rules

Proper and regular cleaning will ensure safe operation and extend the useful life of the appliance.

Warning! Before performing cleaning and maintenance operations, turn the appliance off, disconnect it from the power source and let it cool down, so as to avoid burns and electrocution.

a) Remove dust with a dry cloth or brush.
b) You can remove stubborn dirt with a damp cloth and a neutral detergent.

Attention! Do not clean the appliance with any strong chemicals, alkali, abrasive or disinfecting agents, as they may damage the surface of the appliance.
Attention! Do not immerse the appliance or its base in water or other liquids.

Descaling

In order to remove scale deposited inside the kettle and on the heating element, prepare a solution of water and vinegar (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Pour the solution into the kettle and heat it up, but DO NOT BOIL THE SOLUTION! Leave the solution in the kettle for about 1 hour, then pour it out. Refill the kettle with water up to the maximum level and boil the water. Pour the water out and remove any residue with a damp cloth. If the water at your location leaves lots of scale, frequent descaling is recommended. Do not perform descaling using chemicals designed for coffee makers or irons.

Attention! Descaling frequency depends on the quality and type of water used. Descaling should be performed when you notice that more than ¼ of the heating element surface is covered with scale.

REPAIR

The appliance contains no parts that could be serviced by the user. Do not attempt to repair the appliance on your own. Always have the appliance repaired by a professional. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a service centre representative or a properly qualified technician.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

It is recommended that the appliance be stored in its original packaging.
Always keep the appliance in a dry, well-ventilated room, beyond children’s reach.
Always hold the appliance by its handle when handling it.
Place the power cord in the holder of the base.
During transportation protect the appliance against vibration and shock.

UTYLIZATION

Keep the packaging materials out of children’s reach, as the materials can pose a hazard. The packaging should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Correct disposal of the device:

  1. According to the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU, the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol is used to label all electric and electronic devices requiring segregation.
  2. Do not dispose of the spent product with domestic waste: hand it over to an electric and electronic device collection and recycling centre.
  3. Hazardous components in electronic and electrical equipment have a negative impact on the environment and human health.
  4. Plastics contained in the device can be recycled in accordance with the specific marking. By recycling materials and spent equipment you will help to protect the environment.
  5. Information on electric and electronic devices collection centres is available from local government agencies or from the vendor.

This appliance has been designed, manufactured and marketed in accordance with the requirements of the New Approach Directives. Therefore, the product has been marked with the CE mark and a declaration of conformity has been issued for it, which is made available to market regulators.
