HOFFEN GKS-2325-B Kitchen Scale
INTENDED PURPOSE
The device is intended for weighing food products used for the preparation of
meals. The device is intended for private household use indoors only. It must
not be used for professional purposes.
The scale is not suitable for weighing people or items heavier than 5 kg (5000
g). Following the instructions in this manual will ensure safe installation
and use of the device.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Please read this manual in whole before using the product.
- In order to prevent fire when using electrical appliances, in particular in the presence of children, follow basic safety principles.
- The device is intended for indoor use only.
- Do not use this device for anything other than its intended purpose.
- Do not use the device in the vicinity of heat sources (heaters, fire).
- When the device is not in use or prior to cleaning it, always disconnect it from the power source (remove the batteries).
- Do not clean the device using corrosive cleaning agents.
- Protect the device from penetration by water or other liquids.
- Protect the device against the penetration of dry goods.
- Warning! During cleaning or operation, never immerse any electrical parts of the device in water or other liquids. Never hold the device under running water.
- Do not place the device on slippery surfaces, so as to protect it against falling and damage.
- Do not jump or stand on the scale.
- The device is not a toy.
- Children must not play with the device.
- Keep the manual and the packaging, if possible.

Open the packaging and carefully take out the device. Inspect the set for completeness and any damage. Check that the plastic parts are not broken. If any parts are damaged or missing, contact the dealer and do not use the device. Retain the packaging or dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.
Caution! For the sake of children’s safety, do not leave any packaging materials accessible and unattended (plastic bags, cardboard boxes, Styrofoam etc.). Risk of suffocation!
OPERATION
Inserting and changing batteries
- Make sure the scale is switched off.
- Slide and pry open the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the spent batteries (if present).
- Insert two new 1.5 V AAA batteries, paying attention to the polarity symbols in the battery compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover.
Attention!
- The device is designed to be used with two batteries, type AAA 1.5 V .
- The batteries are included in the kit.
- When replacing batteries, observe the polarity marked inside the battery compartment.
- Use the type of batteries recommended for this device: AAA 1.5 V .
- Do not put used batteries in a rubbish bin, but in special containers for used batteries.
- Do not recharge batteries not designed for that purpose (non-rechargeable batteries).
- Do not short-circuit the terminals.
- Never expose batteries to direct heat sources, such as excessive sun light, heaters or fire.
- Risk of explosion! Never disassemble or short-circuit batteries or throw them into fire.
- Always remove the batteries before prolonged storage of the device to prevent damage from possible electrolyte leak.
- Remove spent batteries from the device immediately.
- Spent batteries may leak, which may damage the device.
- If you touch acid from a battery, rinse your hands under running water. If any acid gets into your eyes, contact a doctor. The acid contained in the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Swallowing a battery may have fatal consequences! Keep batteries away from children and pets. Seek medical assistance immediately if a battery is swallowed.
Weighing
- Place the scale on a level, stable and dry surface. In order to ensure a correct reading, do not place the scale on a towel or any cloth.
- Press the ON/OFF/TARE button (present, seen in the picture) to turn on the scale. After 2 seconds, the display will show “0”.
- You may start weighing.
- Before you read the result, wait until the triangle icon is shown on the display. It means the measurement is finished.
- The current unit of the weight reading is shown on the display. When you change the unit, the unit indicated on the display will change.
- To switch off the scale, press the ON/OFF/TARE button and hold it for 3 seconds.
- The scale will turn off automatically if idle for approximately 120 seconds.
Changing the weight units
After switching on the scale, you can change the weight unit using the UNIT button – g, lb:oz, ml, cup. Each subsequent press changes the unit in the following sequence:
Weight: g
Weight: lb:oz
Water: ml
Water: cup
Milk: ml
Milk: cup
Resetting
After the scale is turned on, it resets automatically regardless of the
items placed on it. This function may be used for taring when starting up the
scale.
Taring
After turning the scale on, you can use the taring function to obtain the
weight of your product without its packaging. In order to do this, weigh an
empty package (e.g. a jar), press the ON/OFF/TARE button, wait until the
displays shows 0, then weigh your product together with the package (e.g. a
jar with grain inside).
Indicators on the display

(5000 g), precisely when 5199 g is exceeded .

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Remove the batteries from the device before you start cleaning it.
- Wipe with a slightly damp cloth with some dishwashing agent, then wipe the scale dry.
- Do not use any caustic agents for cleaning the device.
- Protect the device from penetration by water or other liquids.
- Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids.
SERVICE
The device does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to
repair the device on your own. Always have a specialist perform repairs.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
- Clean the device as described.
- Keep the device in a dry and well-ventilated place inaccessible to children. 3. Protect the device against vibration and shock during transport.
DISPOSAL
Keep the packaging materials out of children’s reach, as the materials can
pose a hazard. The packaging should be disposed of in accordance with local
regulations.
Correct disposal of the device:
- According to the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU, the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol is used to label all electric and electronic devices requiring segregation.
- Do not dispose of the spent product with domestic waste: hand it over to an electric and electronic device collection and recycling centre.
- Hazardous components in electronic and electrical equipment have a negative impact on the environment and human health.
- Plastics contained in the device can be recycled in accordance with the specific marking. By recycling materials and spent equipment you will help to protect the environment.
- Information on electric and electronic devices collection centres is available from local government agencies or from the vendor.
- Worn out and dead batteries must be discarded in specially marked containers, delivered to special waste collection points or to electronic equipment vendors.
CE DECLARATION
This device has been designed, manufactured and marketed in compliance with
the requirements of the New Approach Directives; therefore, the product has
been marked with the CE mark and a declaration of conformity has been issued
for it, which is made available to market regulators.

In order to submit a complaint about the product, take the device to the
Customer Service Point at any Biedronka store.

- The Warrantor of this product grants a 36-month warranty valid from the date of purchase. If any defect is found, a complaint about the product should be lodged at the point of purchase.
- A defective/damaged product is a product failing to provide the features described in the user’s manual due to intrinsic properties of the device.
- The Beneficiary under the warranty shall deliver the device to the Customer Service Point at a given store in order to submit a complaint about the equipment. When asserting your rights under warranty, you need to present proof of purchase (receipt, invoice) together with a description of the device defect in as much detail as possible, in particular of the external manifestations of the defect.
- The warranty excludes products with physical damage other than that caused by the manufacturer or distributor, including specifically any damage resulting from incorrect usage or force majeure.
- The warranty does not cover products from which the tamper-proof seal has been removed and products to which repairs, alterations or structural modifications have been made or attempted.
- The warranty does not cover components subject to natural wear and tear during operation.
- It is recommended that the complete product be submitted together with the complaint so as to facilitate service operations.
- This warranty for the sold consumer product does not exclude, restrict or suspend any rights of the Buyer related to laws and regulations concerning warranty for defects in sold items pursuant to the provisions of the Civil Code of 23 April 1964 (Journal of Laws Dz.U.2014.121).
- The warranty shall be applicable within the territory of the Republic of Poland.
