INTRODUCTION

Rhino Flooring Range Laminate is suitable for indoor use only and away from prolonged periods of unprotected UV sunlight and liquid contaminants. To obtain a good result, we advise the below given instrucGons to be followed carefully.

PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

The installer/end user is responsible to check all flooring material prior to installing. Once the product has been installed it is deemed to be the correct colour and product. Use the following checklist:

  • Is this the correct product/dye lot (colour, paNern, dimensions)?
  • Are the client’s expectaGons met with the product?
  • Is the installaGon guide and recommendaGons being followed?
  • Has the product been acclimaGsed for a period of no less than 24 hours.

PREPARATIONS

Prepare your subfloor by removing any damp-porous floor covering. This includes carpet, needle felt, etc.
For wooden subfloors, remove any exisGng floor coverings and check for any issues prior including; unevenness greater than 2mm, insect/mould infestaGon, dirt etc. Prepare your subfloor so it has smooth, clean and dry surface before installaGon. Rhino Flooring Range declines any job failure responsibility resulGng from or associated with subfloors, substrates or job-site environmental deficiencies.
Moisture barrier – Laminate is not designed to act as a moisture barrier and is not to be installed in potenGal flooding or standing water areas. In the case of standing water or flooding, any damage caused is not covered by our warranty. Underlay may be used with laminate, discuss the most suitable for your flooring with your flooring provider that will act as a moisture barrier.

HEATING SYSTEMS

AddiGonal instrucGons apply if there is underfloor heaGng or cooling.

  1. The radiant heat surface temperature must not exceed 28°C
  2. Use the radiant heaGng system at maximum capacity to remove any excess moisture, before installing.
  3. Maintain the room temperature between 15-26°C 24 hours prior to installaGon.
  4. Flooring products must be kept in the same environment for at least 24 hours before use.
  5. Apply radiant heat gradually, 24 hours aber installaGon.

INSTALLATION

  1. Prepare all packers, tapping block, saws (a jig-saw, hand circular saw, hand saw, or cross-cut saw), pencil, tape measure, safety goggles, masks and gloves before commencing work.
  2. Check all panels before and during installaGon as any defecGve panels must never be used. Mix the panels sufficiently so that there are no idenGcal or light and dark panels next to each other.
  3. For the best visual appearance, fit the floorboards in the direcGon of the longest wall and parallel to the light source. Carefully measure the length and the width of the room to plan a precise layout to achieve a balanced appearance as this will ensure also you won’t end up with the last row being too narrow. If the last row would be less than 40mm, the installaGon will be easier if you cut down the planks of the first row in the length.
  4. When cufng boards during installaGon, cut décor side up with a hand-held saw and/or cut décor face down with a power saw. If cufng boards using any type of saw, dust extracGon and/or face masks must be used for safety.
  5. Install your first row along the wall. Use the off-cut from the first row to start the second row. It must be >300mm, and not closer than 300mm from the end join in the previous row. Place wedges/packers to ensure the minimum 10mm expansion gap is respected.
  6. When joining the boards, fold down the plank along the long join with a tapping block to ensure complete engagement of the planks, never striking direct or with force in order to avoid breaking the locking system.
  7. Ensure that the first 3-4 rows are checked for straightness using a string line. ConGnue to check for straightness at all stages of the installaGon.
  8. A minimum of a 10mm expansion gaps is to be allowed at all fixed verGcal surfaces (including around cabinetry, island benches and all fixed furniture).
  9. Internal expansion breaks to be provided at doorways, thresholds and open areas exceeding 10mx10m. At doorways, trim the male part of the end click on Fold Down products where and if required so that the board can slide Gdily under the architrave. Use a crosslinking PVA glue for the trimmed join, engage the long side of the board and use a tapping block to engage the short end of the board.
  10. Fit trims, scoGa etc to finish the flooring.

POST INSTALLATION

Do not allow usage of the newly installed floor for a minimum of 24hrs. Aber this period. a brush, dry cloth or vacuum cleaner can be used for cleaning purposes. Avoid water and wet cleaners and follow supplied maintenance guide by Rhino Flooring Range for proper care of the product.
