SUPERIOR VINYL PLANK INSTALLATION GUIDE
2.0mm – 3.0mm products

BEFORE INSTALLATION

Superior vinyl plank is not to be used as a thermal barrier. Please refer to warranty.

  1. The surface must be completely dry. Please note that even though the floor may appear dry, it may still retain moisture. Moisture testing is a mandatory step in subfloor preparations.
  2. In newly constructed building it is necessary to dry the flooring surface 7 to 14 days prior to application to ensure that no moisture is retained in cement surfaces. Concrete moisture level must be as per Australian Standard requirements.
  3. Any polish, paint, dirt, etc. must be completely removed from the floor before installation. Dry mop and sweep the entire floor to remove surface sand, soil and debris.
  4. Ensure that the floor surface is smooth and level. To achieve an ideal smooth and even subfloor surface there should be no more than a 2mm difference in height over any 2000mm distance, and no more than a 1mm difference over any 1500mm distance.
  5. Concrete subfloors must be below 5.5% moisture content and a RH (Relative Humidity) content of less than 75%.
  6. This temperature should be stable between (16C-25C). To ensure acclimatisation, planks should be delivered to installation site, unpacked and permitted to lay flat (stacking acceptable if planks remain flat) at least 24-48hrs prior to commencement of installation. This ideal temperature range should then be maintained throughout installation and extended for at least 24-36 hrs after

INSTALLATION

We recommend the use of Roberts R2000/Uzin KE2000s/Mapei Ultrabond Eco VS90Plus/Mapei Ultrabond Eco 4LVT vinyl plank adhesives for most standard installations. In front of windows and areas of large temperature fluctuations Roberts 280 HT adhesive should be used.

  1. Prepare all rulers, cutters, adhesives, spreaders and compass dividers before work is commenced.
  2. Check that the colour is as selected. Once installed superior vinyl plank is not responsible for colour/dye or colour inconsistencies. Check that the boxes of planks are of the same batch/lot number.
  3. Find the exact centre of the floor by marking vertical and horizontal lines across the floor.
  4. Measure the squareness of the marked lines, and then start applying adhesives on the first quarter of the marked floor space.
  5. Work on small portions of the floor at a time, and apply adhesives accordingly. Optimum usage of adhesive is 1 litre to cover 5m2 using a V1 notch trowel.
  6. Press products down firmly so that the products lie flat on the ground. Use a roller of at least 45kg to roll over the planks to apply extra pressure. Planks must be installed while adhesive is still wet ensuring sufficient transfer after rolling. Please check and lay as per glue manufacturers (Roberts) instructions.
  7. As the adhesives may be flammable, avoid any contract with sparks or open flames.
  8. As the adhesives dry quickly, remove excess adhesive immediately by using alcohol or alkaline water.

HEATING SYSTEMS

Follow the instructions below to install vinyl planks over radiant heating systems.

  1. The radiant heat surface temperature must not exceed 28°C
  2. Use the radiant heating system at maximum capacity to remove any excess moisture, before
  3. Maintain the room temperature between 15-26°C 24 hours prior to installation.
  4. Flooring products must be kept in the same environment for at least 24 hours before use.
  5. Apply radiant heat gradually, 24 hours after installation
