THE NATURE OF HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
WARNING
The use of portable automotive lifting devices is subject to certain hazards
that cannot be prevented by mechanical means, but only by the exercise of
intelligence, care, and common sense. It is therefore essential to have owners
and personnel involved in the use and operation of the equipment who are
careful, competent, trained, and qualified in the safe operation of the
equipment and its proper use. Examples of hazards are dropping, tipping or
slipping of loads caused primarily by improperly securing loads, overloading,
off-centered loads, use on other than hard level surfaces, and using equipment
for a purpose for which it was not designed.
SAFETY
WARNING
Read and understand the instructions and instructions in this manual before
use.
Do not exceed the rated capacity of the jack.
Check that the jack’s lifting force is compatible with the weight of the
vehicle.
Always make sure that you have sufficient working space to correctly manoeuvre
around the jack.
Use the jack on a flat and solid surface capable of supporting the load.
Do not use in difficult conditions: snow, strong wind, heavy rain.
The jack is a lifting device only. Use jack stands to support the vehicle.
Do not allow anyone to sit under the vehicle until it is supported by jack
stands.
Do not move the vehicle on the jack.
Lift only in areas of the vehicle specified by the manufacturer.
Centre the load on the pad before lifting.
Do not lift people.
Do not put the jack in contact with food.
Keep out of the reach of children.
It is strongly recommended to wear safety clothing (gloves, shoes).
The jack is made to lift vehicles, any other use that could lead to dangerous
situations is forbidden.
If the jack is blocked to lower the vehicle, use another jack that is in
working order, do not attempt to unblock the jack.
No modifications must be made to the jack.
Failure to observe these warnings may result in personal injury or property
damage.
Always inspect the jack before use. Do not use the jack if a malfunction is
detected.
Do not store high up
Any modification of the product would result in the cancellation of the
guarantee.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Sometimes during shipment and handling, air gets into the hydraulic system, causing poor lifting performance. Before initial operation, purge any air from the system by fully opening pump release valve (turn handle counter-clockwise). Then, while holding the saddle down, pump handle rapidly several times.
SYSTEM AIR PURGE PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: BEFORE FIRST USE
Perform the following Air Purge Procedure to remove any air that may have been
introduced into the hydraulic system as a result of product shipment and
handling. This step is to be completed without any weight on the jack.
-
Remove cover plate.
-
Turn release valve counter-clockwise on full turn to the open position.
-
Rapidly pump the handle 6-8 times.
Leave handle in down position to expose oil fill plug. -
With a flat blade screwdriver, push the oil fill plug slightly to the side to purge trapped air from system. (Use caution not to tear or puncture the oil plug.)
-
Replace Cover Plate.
-
Turn release valve clockwise to the closed position.
-
Jack is now ready for use. Check for proper pump action. (Repeat steps if neccessary).
RAISING THE JACK
- Block the vehicle’s wheels for lifting stability. Secure the load to prevent inadvertent shifting and movement.
- Position the jack near desired lift point.
- Set the Parking Brake in the vehicle.
- Refer to the vehicle manufacturer owner’s manual to locate approved lifting points on the vehicle. Position the jack so that the saddle is centered and will contact the load lifting point firmly. Raise jack by pumping handle until desired height is reached. After lifting, secure and transfer load to jack stands or other appropriate means. Do not use jack as the only means of support.
- Assemble the handle; ensure to align with slots.
- Close the release valve by turning it clockwise until it is firmly closed.
- Before raising the vehicle double check and verify the saddle is centered and also has full contact with the lifting point.
- Pump handle to lift until saddle contacts load. Continue to pump the jack handle to lift the vehicle to the desired height. After lifting, support the load with appropriately rated vehicle support stands before working on the vehicle.
LOWERING THE JACK
- Raise load high enough to allow clearance for the jack stands to be removed, then carefully remove jack stands.
- Remove support stands.
- Grasp the handle firmly with both hands. Securely hold on to the jack handle so your hands do not slip and ensure the release valve does not rapidly lower.
- Carefully open the Release Valve by slowly turning the handle counter-clockwise. (Do not allow bystanders around the jack or under the load when lowering the jack.
- After removing jack from under the load, keep jack in the lowered position to reduce exposure to rust and contamination.
NOTE: Always store jack in the fully lowered position, and the handle in the upright position
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
This is the safety alert symbol used for the PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE section of this manual to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death.
-
Always store the jack in a well protected area where they will not be exposed to inclement weather, corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or any other harmful elements. The jack must be cleaned of water, snow, sand, grit, oil, grease or other foreign matter before using.
-
The jack must be lubricated periodically in order to prevent premature wearing of parts. A general purpose grease must be applied to all zerk grease fittings, caster wheels, front axle, lift arm, handle base pivot bolts, release mechanism and all other bearing surfaces. Worn parts resulting from inadequate or no lubrication are not eligible for warranty consideration.
-
It should not be necessary to refill or top off the reservoir with hydraulic fluid unless there is an external leak. An external leak requires immediate repair which must be performed in a dirt-free environment by an authorized service center.
IMPORTANT: In order to prevent seal damage and jack failure, never use alcohol, hydraulic brake fluid or transmission oil in the jack. Use Chevron Hydraulic Oil AW ISO 32 or its equivalent Unocal Unax AW 150. -
Every jack owner is responsible for keeping the jack labels clean and readable. Use a mild soap solution to wash external surfaces of the jack but not any moving hydraulic components.
-
Inspect the jack before each use. Do not use the jack if any component is cracked, broken, bent, shows sign of damage or leaks hydraulic fluid. Do not use the jack if it has loose or missing hardware or components, or is modified in any way. Take corrective action before using the jack again.
-
Any hydraulic repairs within the warranty period must be performed by an authorized service center.
TO ADD JACK OIL
- Position the jack on level ground and lower the saddle.
- Remove cover plate.
- Remove the oil plug
- Fill the oil case until oil level is just beneath the lower rim of the oil fill hole.
- Replace oil plug.
- Replace coverplate and perform the Air Purge Procedure.
TO REPLACE JACK OIL
- Position the jack on level ground and lower the saddle.
- Open release valve by turning handle counter-clockwise.
- Remove cover plate.
- Remove the oil plug.
- Turn the jack on its side to drain old oil from the oil fill hole.
- Position the jack on level ground and keep saddle in the lowered position. Fill the oil case until oil level is just beneath the lower rim. Keep dirt and other foreign materials clear when pouring.
- Replace oil plug.
- Replace cover plate and perform the Air Purge Procedure.
