BEGA 84 406 Pendant Luminaire for Catenary Systems

Product Information

The pendant light is designed with symmetrical broad spread light distribution for catenary systems. It features an integral reflector unit that directs the light downwards in a rotationally symmetrical wide beam. This luminaire is ideal for providing good visual comfort in arcades, galleries, and passageways. The cable hanger system of the luminaire is suitable for both transverse suspension systems and longitudinal chain systems. Safety is of utmost importance and the installation and operation of this luminaire must comply with national safety regulations. Only qualified electricians should carry out the installation and commissioning. The manufacturer does not accept liability for damage caused by improper use or installation. Any modifications made to the luminaire must be done by a responsible person who will be considered the manufacturer. For additional protection against overvoltage and transients, it is recommended to use separate overvoltage protection components. These components can be found on the manufacturer’s website at www.bega.com.

The luminaire has a rated temperature of 25°C to 35°C and the ambient temperature should not exceed 35°C.

Product Usage Instructions

To replace the LED module, refer to the label inside the luminaire for the module designation. The replacement modules from BEGA have the same light colour and light output as the original modules. Qualified persons can replace the module using standard tools.

Application

Safety

  • The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations. Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
  • The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation. If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.

Overvoltage protection

  • The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547.
  • To achieve an additional protection against e. g. transients, etc. we recommend separate overvoltage protection components.

Installation

  • Place cable hanger with luminaire onto the tension cable. Align unit axially. Make tight connection between cable clamp with thrust screws M8 and tension cable. Secure thrust screw with lock nut.
  • Undo the hexagon socket head screws (wrench size 5 mm) in the covering cap and lift luminaire housing.
  • For through-wiring of the mains supply cable the dummy screw gland must be replaced with enclosed screw cable gland.
  • Open the connection box and lead free line ends into connection box.
  • Make the earth conductor connection and the electrical connection.
  • For digital control please use the connecting terminal DA, DA.
  • In case this terminal is not used the luminaire will be operated at full light output.
  • Close the connection box.
  • Push plug of the luminaire into coupler of the connection box and screw together. Assemble luminaire housing on luminaire cover. Tighten the screws evenly.
  • In case the supporting cable is not stretched in a horizontal position it is possible to bring the luminaire in a horizontal burning position by adjusting the screw joint at the junction box. Adjustable range ± 5°.

Replacing the LED module

  • The designation of the LED module is noted on a label in the luminaire.
  • The light colour and light output of BEGA replacement modules correspond to those of the modules originally fitted. The module can be replaced by qualified persons using standard tools.
  • Disconnect the electrical installation.
  • Undo the hexagon socket screws (wrench size 5 mm) at the luminaire top and remove luminaire housing.
  • Disconnect plug connection.
  • Undo 2 hexagon socket screws (wrench size 5 mm) in the luminaire housing (keyholes), turn LED-unit counter-clockwise and pull it out of the luminaire housing.
  • For relplacing the LED module undo the hexagon socket screws (wrench size 3 mm) and lift cover of the LED-unit.
  • Please follow the installation instructions for the LED module.
  • Assembly to be carried out in reverse sequence.
  • Inspect and, if necessary, replace the luminaire gaskets.
  • Defective glass must be replaced.

Cleaning · Maintenance

  • Clean dirt and debris from the luminaire regularly with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth that is kept damp throughout the cleaning.
  • If possible, please use water for this, adding a little commercial dishwashing detergent.
  • For lacquered surfaces we recommend the use of BEGA Lacquer Care Set 71 179.
  • Cleaning agents containing solvents and high-pressure cleaners are unsuitable for cleaning and maintenance.
