BEGA 51146.4 Indoor Wall Luminaire

Product Information:

The product is a wall luminaire from the Studio Line. It has an aluminium housing with a velvet black finish on the outside and a matt brass hue on the inside. The luminaire features a light-diffusing LED cover made of plastic. It has a cable entry for through-wiring and connecting terminals for the mains cable. The LED power supply unit operates at 220-240 V with a frequency of 50-60 Hz and a DC voltage range of 176-275 V. The luminaire is DALI- controllable and has basic insulation between the mains and control cables. It weighs 1.2 kg and contains light sources of energy efficiency class E.

Product Usage Instructions

For installation and commissioning, only qualified electricians should be used.
Mount the luminaire by attaching the mounting plate to the installation surface using the provided or suitable mounting materials.
Ensure that the mounting plate is in the correct position, following the arrow indicating the bottom.
Disconnect the earth conductor connection (plug contact).
Connect the mains cable through the cable entry on the luminaire’s mounting plate, using appropriate wiring techniques.
Ensure that all connections are secure and properly insulated.
If additional protection against overvoltage or transients is desired, separate overvoltage protection components are recommended. These can be found on the manufacturer’s website at www.bega.com.

Safety

The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations. Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation. If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.

Overvoltage protection
The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547.
To achieve an additional protection against e. g. transients, etc. we recommend separate overvoltage protection components.

Installation

LED are high-quality electronic components!
Please avoid touching the light output opening of the LED directly during installation or relamping.
Undo the hexagon socket head screws (wrench size 2.5 mm) and lift luminaire housing.
Unplug the earth conductor connection (plug contact).
Pass the power connecting cable through the cable entry in the mounting plate.
Fasten the mounting plate with the supplied fastening material or other suitable fastening material to the installation surface.
Note position of application of the mounting plate “arrow down”.
Establish the earth conductor connection on the earthing screw ( ) of the mounting plate.
Push silicone sleeves over the lines.
Make the electrical connection to the terminals.
Observe the correct configuration of the connecting cable. Connect the live conductor to the brown wire (L) and the neutral conductor to the blue wire (N).
The two connecting terminals marked DA, DA are provided for digital control purposes.
If these terminals are not assigned, the luminaire will work with full light output.
Make earth conductor connection between luminaire housing and mounting plate (plug contact).
Place connecting terminals inside the luminaire housing.
Note position of application of the luminaire “arrow down”.
Install luminaire housing over mounting plate and tighten hexagon socket head screws (wrench size 2.5 mm) evenly.

Cleaning · Maintenance

Clean luminaire regularly with solvent-free cleansers from dirt.

Replacing the LED module ·

Replacing the power supply unit
The designation of the LED module is noted on a label in the luminaire.
The light colour and light output of BEGA replacement modules correspond to those of the modules originally fitted. The replacement can be carried out by a qualified person using standard tools.
Disconnect the system from the power supply.
Unscrew the hexagon socket screws (SW 2.5) underneath and lift off the luminaire housing.
Remove the wires on the luminaire side from the terminals marked (L), (N), DA DA.
Disconnect the earth conductor connection with the mounting plate (plug contact).
Insert hex wrench (SW 2–2.5) in the bore holes in the diffuser lenses. Release the diffuser lenses from their magnetic holders by rotating them slightly and carefully pull them out of the luminaire housing together with the hex wrench.
Unscrew the two nuts (M 2.5) with serrated washers in the connection compartment of the luminaire housing, and remove the die-cast housing with LED modules and power supply unit from the luminaire housing.
Remove the LED module. Install the replacement LED module. Please follow the installation instructions for the LED module.
Replace defective LED power supply unit.
Install in reverse order.
