Fitting A Clip On Regulator
1. Remove the cap from the top of the cylinder.
2. Visually check the condition of the O ring in the cylinder valve - missing or damaged? Do not use the cylinder.
3. Make sure the lever on the regulator is in the off position.
4. Sit the regulator onto the cylinder valve. Push the regulator down until you hear a click.
5. Sometimes, particularly if the O ring has recently been replaced, you may need to lean on the regulator to get it to click.
6. When ready to use the appliance turn the lever up to turn the gas on.
If the lever doesn’t turn up lean on the regulator as per point 5.
7. Carry out a leak test as per instructions on page 3
8. To turn the appliance off turn the regulator lever down to the off position. When the appliance is not in use always leave the regulator in the off position.
9. To remove the regulator from the cylinder, the lever must be in the off position, push the button underneath the lever in and then lift the regulator up.
Leak testing a clip on regulator
It is easier, but not necessary, to carry out the leak test with the cylinder stood outside of the heater.
Fit the regulator to the cylinder, turn the regulator on but do not light the heater.
Use a soapy water solution and brush it around the connections as detailed below.
Any leak will show up as bubbles.
Wipe up the soapy liquid once the test is complete.
- Check where the hose pushes on to the regulator.
- Check where the cylinder and regulator meet.
- Check where the hose pushes onto the control valve.
If any leak is detected after test 1 & 2 make sure the hose is pushed fully on to the connection and the jubilee clip is tight.
If any leak is detected after test 2 the most common cause is an issue with the valve of the cylinder dirt, dust, worn O ring causing the leak – change the cylinder.
