Field of application
Personal protective equipment (PPE) used for fall protection. Mountaineering
and climbing carabiner. EN 12275: 2013 class T connector (termination
connector).
Suitable environment:
TIPTOP STEEL: indoors, climbing gyms. TIPTOP STAINLESS: outdoors,
environment that does not cause stress corrosion cracking (SCC). For anchor
installations on a sea cliff, or in any other highly corrosive environment,
the lifetime of the anchor is significantly reduced. It is preferable to use a
material with a corrosion resistance suitable for harsh environments that
cause stress corrosion cracking, so that the lifetime of the installation is
satisfactory. This product must not be pushed beyond its limits, nor be used
for any purpose other than that for which it is designed. TIPTOP is suitable
for anchor use on a climbing wall that meets the requirements of the EN 12572:
2017 standard.

Inspection, points to verify
Petzl recommends a detailed inspection at least once every 12 months. Warning: your intensity of use may cause you to inspect your PPE more frequently. Record the results on your PPE inspection record sheet: see examples at Petzl.com.
Before each use
Verify the absence of any cracks, deformation, marks, wear, corrosion on the frame, attachment hole, gate and rivet. Open the gate and verify that it closes itself automatically and completely when released. The Keylock hole must not be blocked or plugged.
During use
Verify that the carabiner is always loaded on the major axis. Make sure the rope is completely clipped into the carabiner, with the gate closed. It is important to regularly monitor the condition of the product and its connections to the other equipment in the system. Make sure that all items of equipment are correctly positioned with respect to each other.
Compatibility
Verify that this product is compatible with the other elements of the system in your application (compatible = good functional interaction). TIPTOP may be attached to the structure by any appropriate anchoring method that allows proper positioning. TIPTOP was designed to be attached with a GO 8 mm quick link.
Carabiner positioning
A carabiner is not indestructible.
A carabiner is strongest when loaded on the major axis, with the gate closed. Loading a carabiner in any other way is dangerous. Attach the TIPTOP to the anchor only via the hole for attachment to the structure. The placement must allow the rope to run freely, with the connector loaded on the major axis, without cantilever loading or rubbing on the gate. The connector must not be loaded on the gate.
