-
The use of the product in or near garden ponds, wells, swimming pools, water fountains or similar is permitted only if the product is operated via a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) with a rated leakage current of <= 30 mA.
If there are persons in a swimming pool, swimming pond or garden pond, then the product must not be operated.
In Austria, the product may be operated in or near the swimming pools and garden ponds only if a suitable ÖVE-tested safety isolating transformer is connected upstream in addition to the ground fault circuit interrupter. -
In the place of operation the ambient temperature must not be around or under the freezing point (<0 °C). Otherwise, the water in the waste water pump will freeze, with the resulting ice build-up causing the pump to destruct. Store the product in a dry place above freezing point during winter.
-
If you use an extension cable or if it is required to lay cables to the waste water pump, they must not have a smaller cross-section than the waste water pump itself. Use only extension cables with a protective earth contact suitable for outdoor use.
-
Protect the power cord of the waste water pump from cold/heat, oil/gasoline and sharp edges; do not step on the power cord, do not drive on it (for example, with a garden cart, bicycle, car). Never bend the power cord or place objects on it.
-
Make sure that electrical plug connectors are located in areas protected against flooding, otherwise, there is a risk of fatal electric shock! If necessary, use suitable protective housings for the plug connectors.
-
Protect the mains plug against moisture! Never plug in or unplug the product when your hands are wet.
There is a risk of fatal electric shock! -
The power cord or the mains plug must not be cut off.
d) Operation
-
Only fresh water with a maximum temperature of +35 °C is allowed as the pumped liquid.
-
When pumping contaminated water, impurities with a particle size of up to 35 mm are allowed. Make sure that the diameter of the hose used and the connections required are designed for such contamination.
-
The product is not suitable for the conveyance of drinking water.
-
The product is not suitable for conveying corrosive/erosive, flammable or explosive liquids (such as gasoline, heating oil, cellulose thinner), fats, oils, salt water or waste water from toilet facilities.
-
The mains socket to which the waste water pump is connected must be easily accessible. The power cord should face down from the mains socket to prevent water from returning to the mains socket.
-
When the waste water pump is to be operated e.g. in a well shaft, a suitable fastening is required, e.g. a rope. For safety reasons, the rope must be able to hold at least 3 times the weight of the waste water pump. Never attach the waste water pump using its power cord, and never use the power cord to carry, hold or immerse the waste water pump!
-
The product is not protected against dry run.
-
The product must not be operated unattended.
-
The product must not be operated continuously.
-
There must be no persons in the pumped medium during the operation.
-
The product must not be used in or near explosive liquids or gases, there is a danger of explosion!
-
Consequential damage that may occur due to a malfunction or fault in the waste water pump must be prevented by suitable measures (for example, water level gauges, sensors, alarm devices, reserve pump or similar).
-
Only use the product in temperate climates. It is not suitable for use in tropical climates.
-
Do not shut off the outlet side of the waste water pump when it is running. Use e.g. a corresponding pressure switch that cuts off power supply to the waste water pump in good time. The waste water pump must not be operated against the closed pressure side for more than 5 minutes to avoid damage. The water in the waste water pump heats up within just 5 minutes. Beware of the hot water discharged from the open pressure side to avoid the risk of scalding/injury!
-
Do not place the product with the suction openings directly in muddy, sandy or stony ground such as a garden pond. For example, use a stone slab as a base. Otherwise, the suction openings could be blocked completely or partially after a short time! In addition, sand, stones or other hard objects in the pumped liquid cause increased wear and reduce the performance of the waste water pump.
-
Check the entire product for signs of damage, e.g. of the housing and the power cord/mains plug. If you discover any damages, you must not use the product. If the product is already connected to the mains voltage, first disconnect the corresponding mains socket from all poles by switching off the circuit breaker or unscrewing the fuse and then switching off the associated ground fault circuit interrupter. Only now unplug the mains plug of the waste water pump from the mains socket. Discontinue use and take the product to a specialist repair centre. Never attempt repairs yourself, entrust them to a specialist!
-
If it is assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the waste water pump must be shut down and secured against inadvertent operation by pulling the mains plug out of the mains socket. It must be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
– the waste water pump and the connecting cables show visible damages
– the waste water pump does not operate any longer
– the waste water pump was transported or stored under unfavourable conditions
– it was exposed to heavy loads during transport. -
Always disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket when you stop using the product, when faults must be rectified or when cleaning or maintenance must be carried out.
-
Do not pull the mains plug out of the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Always pull the mains plug out of the mains socket by holding it only by the side gripping surfaces. Never touch the mains plug when your hands are damp or wet. Danger of a life-threatening electric shock!
-
Carry the product using the carrying handle; never carry it by the power cord.
-
Condensate may form when the product is brought from a cold room into a warm one (e.g. during transportation). This poses a risk of fatal electric shock! Therefore, allow the product to warm up to room/ambient temperature before using it or connecting to the mains supply. This may take several hours.

Placing the waste water pump
-
Attach a sufficiently strong, waterproof rope to the carrying handle (2) to lower the waste water pump e.g. into the well.
The waste water pump must never be held or attached via the power cord or float switch! Otherwise the power cord may get damaged, risk of an electric shock! The waste water pump must also not be attached using the hose.
Fix the rope to a suitable bracket. -
To connect the hose to the waste water pump, you can use the supplied L-shaped pipe section (4) and the hose connection (3).
→ Make sure that the diameter of the hose used and the connections required are designed for such contamination. -
There is a cable holder (8) on the side of the carrying handle (2). It serves to fix the cable to the float switch.
The position in which the float switch cable is fixed is later used to determine the corresponding switch-on or switch-off water level.
Set the correct cable length for your application so that the float switch switches the waste water pump on and off as required.
Initial operation
-
After you have lowered the waste water pump on a rope into the well or the like and fastened the rope accordingly, insert the mains plug into a proper mains socket with a protective earth contact. For outdoor operation, it must be an IP44 mains socket.
The mains plug may be plugged into the mains socket only when it is dry. Otherwise there is a risk of a fatal electric shock! -
If the float switch is correctly positioned, the waste water pump will turn on and begin to suck in water and pump it through the outlet opening.
If water is not pumped, there is still air in the waste water pump and in the hose. You can accelerate the suction process if you move the waste water pump back and forth a bit or insert/remove the mains plug. -
The waste water pump turns off automatically when the float switch drops down.
→ The waste water pump can also be operated manually by fixing the float switch to the cable holder of the waste water pump or by placing it in a higher position.
However, the waste water pump must not be operated unsupervised, because it does not turn off if there is no water in it and can thus sustain damage.
Removing from service
If you need to disconnect the hose from the waste water pump (e.g. for cleaning, maintenance or winter storage), proceed as follows:
-
Disconnect the waste water pump from the mains voltage by pulling the mains plug out of the mains socket.
-
Pull the waste water pump out of the water by the fastening rope or the carrying handle.
The waste water pump must never be pulled out by the power cord, float switch or hose! Otherwise the power cord may get damaged, risk of an electric shock! -
Disconnect the hose from the waste water pump.
-
Allow residual water to run out of the waste water pump by holding it tilted.
-
Allow the waste water pump and power cord to dry completely. Then wind up the power cord.
-
The waste water pump must be stored in a frost-proof and dry room during winter.
→ Also do not forget to empty the hoses laid outdoor to avoid frost damages; open water taps if available. -
Only carry or transport the waste water pump by the carrying handle. Never carry it using the hose or the power cord.
-
A small amount of water may still remain in the waste water pump after operation or emptying. Therefore, when storing or transporting the pump in a vehicle, use an appropriate mat.
Cleaning and maintenance
The waste water pump has no user serviceable parts, so never open or dismantle
it. Maintenance, repair and associated opening of the waste water pump may
only be carried out by a specialist or a specialist workshop. Before cleaning
the waste water pump, disconnect it from the mains voltage by pulling the
mains plug out of the mains socket.
Use a clean, soft cloth to clean the outside of the waste water pump. If
necessary, rinse the outer surface with clear water. Dirty suction openings
can be cleaned with running water (e.g. with a garden hose). The inside of the
waste water pump can also be rinsed out with running water by removing the
hose and any connector attached. Allow the waste water pump and power cord to
dry completely before putting them in storage.
Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions,
as these may damage the housing or stop the product from functioning properly.
Troubleshooting
The waste water pump you have purchased is a product that has been designed according to the state of the art and is reliable in operation. Even then, problems and malfunctions can occur. Therefore, observe the following information on how to solve the possible malfunctions.
Waste water pump does not suck in water
- Open any shut-off ball valve on the pressure side to bleed air from the hose or the pump. Move the pump back and forth. If necessary, fill the hose with water. Unplug the mains plug briefly from the mains socket and then plug it in again.
- Clean the suction openings (first disconnect the waste water pump from the mains voltage!).
- The water level is too low, only air is sucked in.
- Waste water pump does not start or stops during operation
- Check the mains supply or the circuit breaker and the ground fault circuit interrupter. If the GF circuit interrupter has tripped, you should disconnect the waste water pump from the mains voltage and check it for damage (e.g. power cord).
- The impeller inside the waste water pump is blocked by dirt. Disconnect the waste water pump from the mains voltage, remove the hose and rinse the inside of the waste water pump with water.
- The float switch is not positioned correctly.
- The overtemperature protection has tripped. Disconnect the waste water pump from the mains voltage and allow it to cool down (at least 30 minutes). Eliminate the cause of the trip (e.g. water temperature too high, dry running too long etc.).
Flow rate is lower or too low
- Check the suction openings for dirt.
- The waste water pump sucks in air because the suction openings are no longer completely immersed in water.
- Check the hose attachment to the waste water pump.
- Check the hose for leaks or kinks.
- The greater the flow rate decrease, the larger the pump head.
- The hose diameter is too small, the hose is clogged by dirt.
The float switch is not released or does not switch off
- The float switch is not positioned correctly.
- Attach the float switch cable to the side of the cable holder so that the float switch switches off correctly when the water level in e.g. A cistern is low.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
