Before first use

Before using the espresso machine, rinse the appliance with warm water as follows:

  1. Remove the plug on the bottom of the water tank.
  2. Fill the water tank with clean water, ensuring that you do not exceed the maximum level, and close the tank cover before placing the tank back in the appliance. The appliance is supplied with an easy-to-clean water tank.
  3. Set the brewing filter into the metal funnel (with no coffee in the brewing filter).
  4. Place an espresso cup on the drip plate and make sure the knob is at the horizontal OFF position.
  5. Connect to a power outlet and press the power button. The power indicator will turn on and the single/double-cup/steam indicator will flash.
  6. The appliance will start heating. When the single/double-cup/steam indicator stays constant, this indicates that pre-heating is complete. Press the double-cup button and wait for a moment until the water starts to flow.
  7. When the appliance stops pumping water, you can pour away the water in the container and clean it thoroughly. The appliance is now ready for brewing. Note that the appliance may make a loud noise (for around 20 seconds) when pumping water for the first time as air is released from inside the appliance.

Pre-heating
For best results, it is recommended to preheat the appliance before making coffee, including the metal funnel, brewing filter and cup.

  1. Remove the water tank and open the tank cover to fill it with the desired amount of water.
The water level should not exceed the MAX mark on the water tank. Place the water tank into the appliance properly before use.

  2. Set the brewing filter into the metal funnel, making sure the tube on the funnel is aligned with the groove on the appliance, and insert the funnel into the appliance from the LOCK position. You can then fix the funnel into the coffee maker by turning it anticlockwise until it is at the CLOSE position.

  3. Place an espresso cup on the drip plate.

  4. Connect the appliance to a power supply and make sure the knob is at the horizontal OFF position.

  5. Press the power button (the power indicator will turn on) and the single/double-cup/steam indicator will start flashing.

  6. When the single/double-cup/steam indicator stays constant, this indicates that pre-heating is complete.

Espresso coffee
  1. Remove the funnel by turning it clockwise. Add ground coffee to the brewing filter using the measuring spoon (one spoonful of ground coffee power can make about one cup of coffee), and then press the ground coffee powder down tightly with the measuring spoon.

  2. Set the brewing filter into the metal funnel, making sure the tube on the funnel is aligned with the groove on the appliance, and then insert the funnel into the appliance to the LOCK position. Then turn the metal funnel anticlockwise until it is at the CLOSE position.

  3. Place a suitable cup on the drip plate.

  4. Select single-cup or double-cup as appropriate, and then press the appropriate button for the selected function. Coffee will flow into the cup after a few seconds.

  5. The appliance will stop automatically when the coffee has finished brewing.
WARNING: Do not leave the coffee maker unattended while in use.

  6. When the coffee brewing has finished and the appliance has cooled down, take the metal

Hot water
When fully preheated, place a suitable cup under the steam wand and turn the knob to the
position. Hot water will be dispensed from the steam wand. Turn the knob off when the desired amount of hot water has been dispensed.

Frothing milk/making cappuccino
To make a cappuccino, top up a cup of espresso with frothed milk. Note that when steam is coming out of the steam wand, the metal funnel must be assembled and in position.
Before frothing milk, release steam for 10 seconds.

Method :

  1. Press the steam button. The steam indicator will start flashing. When the steam indicator stays constant, this indicates that pre-heating is complete.

  2. Start by preparing a shot of espresso in an appropriately sized cup.

  3. Fill a jug with about 100 grams of milk per cup of cappuccino. For best results, use whole milk at a refrigerated temperature (i.e. not hot).
Note: When choosing the size of the jug, the diameter should be at least 70±5 mm. Bear in mind that milk doubles in volume when frothed using the steam wand.

  4. Insert the steam wand into the milk by about two centimetres and turn the knob to the position. Steam will come out from the steam wand. Froth the milk by moving the vessel up and down and side to side.
Warning: Exercise caution, as the steam may result in scalds and burns.

  5. When you have obtained the required amount of froth, turn the knob to the OFF position. Note: Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately after steam stops being produced.

  6. Pour the frothed milk into the prepared espresso to finish making your cappuccino. Sweeten to taste and if desired, sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder.

The steam wand can be used to froth milk or also to make hot beverages such as drinking chocolate and water.

Note that after making steam, you can press the single-cup or double-cup button immediately to brew coffee again. The coffee indicator will flash quickly if the temperature is too high. If this happens, you need to reduce the temperature as follows: turn the knob to the hot water setting to dispense hot water. When the temperature goes down, the pump will stop automatically. When the pump stops, turn the knob to the OFF position. You can then brew coffee again.

If you do not want to brew coffee and the high-temperature warning is displayed, you can press the single-cup or double-cup button again to cancel.

Setting the dispensing amount
  1. Single-cup dispensing amount
Hold down the single-cup button for 3 seconds to enter the setting mode. Then press the single-cup button again. Coffee will start to dispense, and the single-cup indicator will flash. When the desired amount has been dispensed, press the single-cup button again to stop the coffee dispensing. The set amount will then be saved for future use. You can set the single-cup dispensing amount to between 25 ml and 60 ml.

  2. Double-cup dispensing amount
Hold down the double-cup button for 3 seconds to enter the setting mode. Then follow the steps above for setting the single-cup dispensing amount. You can set the double-cup dispensing amount to between 70 ml and 110 ml.

  3. Restoring factory settings
Hold down the single-cup and double-cup buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to restore the factory settings.

Auto power-off

  1. If the appliance is not used within 29 minutes of pressing the power button, it will power off automatically.
  2. If the appliance is not used after 215 ml of water is pumped, the pump will stop automatically.
  3. If the appliance is not used after frothing milk for 180 seconds, the pump will stop automatically.

Alternatively, citric acid (available from a chemist or drug store) can be used instead of descaler (to a ratio of 100:3 water to citric acid).
