These Smart Bulbs link to your preferred smart home systems, such as Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, or Google Assistant, using the Hue Hub to provide the best possible smart home experience.
With the Philips Hue App, you can program routines to help you wake up feeling energized, have your lights detect when you go home, or gradually turn the smart lights out before bed. By adding additional Hue light points and accessories to your beginning kit, you can simply increase your lighting options. To operate your device without touching your smartphone, try installing a Hue Tap switch. To create the ideal ambiance for your upcoming binge-worthy episode, add a Hue Play.

FAQs
What is the point of the hub?
The bulbs connect to the hub, not your phone. The hub connects to your WIFI, creating a more stable connection than Bluetooth.
Is this an international item? Will be using in the US.
We are using it in the U.S.
Is this hue “hub” the same as a hue “bridge?”
no, they’re separate units.
Can you connect Bluetooth by lighting alone without using a hub? If it were a fourth-generation product, it would be fine.
only unless the hub supports Bluetooth connectivity.
Is it possible to set up without plugging into router? i.e.- wirelessly
No. It has to be plugged into to the router at all times
If I get a second hue bridge do I need an Ethernet cable to both?
I would think so.
Can these be dimmed? I am seeing conflicting information so looking for a solid answer.
Yes, definitely.
Is the version of this product 4.0 correct? Can I use it alone without herbs?
yes, you can use it alone but you will only be able to use it like a normal bulb.
How much of a hassle is it to re connect these If the power goes out or someone turns the light switch off on accident?
So far, turning off a light switch hasn’t caused any hassle. One light is connected to a “clapper” and come right back on to its previous setting (most of the time) when we clap the light back on. As for power outages, we haven’t faced that yet since purchasing these the four bulbs we have.
How many Lumens is each bulb rated up to?
each bulb is rated up to 800.
Is this 5ghz compatible?
No. They only connect to a 2.4Ghz band. After initial setup, you can use a 5Ghz band to control it, though.
how many of these would it take to light up a 12×12 room?
I’m not sure what the effect is that you want with these bulbs. I use them as effects in front of my big screen tv to go along with the sound effects from whatever I’m watching on the tv. I have 5, dropped ceiling with 2×2 panels and I put one bulb in 5 different panels. I’m not trying to light up the room, Juninho front of the tv. If you’re wanting to light up a 12×12 room I would only use one in every other row so 5×2 lights or ten of the bulbs. You can dim them or set them to as bright as they’ll go. You’ll need a hub for transitions effects.
Can I control these remotel? Meaning when I’m not home.
Yes. You can control them from the app regardless of your location. I’ve even programmed certain lights to come on when I get near my home in the evening.
Is this HomeKit Enabled?
Yes! That’s what I use.
How many bulbs does one bridge support?
Up to 50 bulbs (or any other accessories) per hub.
