FAQs
Is the metal shield available in other colors? Could it be painted a different color other than black?
Only black. I don’t see any reason you could not paint it… but the paint will not be as durable as the black powdercoat it comes with.
Would this work as a garage workstation light?
No, it lacks a switch. You could use an external switch, but it would still be too dim and way to expensive. Just get a 4ft LED shop light.
Does this come with a power supply?
No, it does not.
Will this work on 220v-240v?
I don’t think so.
Are these dimmable?
Yes, these are dimmable.
does this work with my existing plug with my outdoor hue light strip. would it carry the power for both?
You need one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08BFLLJM4?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title#
Can the Philips hue Amarant power supply be plugged in on the right side? all the product photos show the power supply on the left side.
No, the cables have a feed end and an output end that are not compatible. The power supply side can only plug in on one side of the light.
Can I add this to my current set of outdoor lights? Currently I have 3 connected to one supply that came with the lilies?
No, the Lily pack has 3 8W lights and a 40W supply. It could handle 2 more Lilies, but cannot handle even one of the Amarant’s. The Amarant is a 20W light. I drive 2 of them on a Hue 40W, which is the limit. You will need to get the 100W Hue outdoor power supply… and more hue lights.
How many light bars can be connected together without overloading the transformer?
You can connect 2 Amarant’s to the 40W supply, 4 to the 100W supply.
There are two different values provided for wattage on this page. What is the correct wattage for this product?
The Amarant is 20W per light. When I bought the light, the description was ‘power supply not included’. It seems that someone incorrectly decided to add the ‘requires 80W power supply’ descriptor. That is incorrect. I run two Amarant’s on a Phillips 40W outdoor supply.
Can these stay outdoors with snow all winter? We have that thaw cycles that would keep this submerged in water, snow, and ice due to the low profile.
There are multiple reports in the reviews of seals failing with ice and snow. I plan on bringing mine in for the winter.
Is the shield removable?
No, the shield is not removable.
Can this be used indoors along with other indoor Hue lights?
Yes, it can be used indoors. The cord and power brick and housing are all waterproof so they are a little bulkier and not as aesthetically appealing, but they will work indoors no problem.
How many can be connected to a 95w power supply? It says 80watts in description?
Depends on the light. I have 10 lights on mine – 4 of the small lily spots and 5/6 of the calla. I think they are all 8watts.
Can you install these upside down? I have a pergola and want to run the wires up the pergola wall so they are more hidden.
No need to install upside down. These lights allow for wires to be able to be run in a variety of different directions.
