USE INSTRUCTIONS

Warning : Read the manual carefully before use. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in tool damage, physical injury and/or damage to property. Store the manual in a safe place for future reference.

Symbols

  • Dual gas filter for application on masks not supported by a blower.

  • The instructions for the mask must also be followed.

  • Filter users must be properly trained in the use of respiratory protection.

  • The environment (type and concentration of hazardous materials) must be identified. It must be ensured that the environment cannot be adversely altered during the time that

  • hazardous materials are present in the area. Otherwise, isolation devices must be used. Do not use filters with suspected other contaminants with low warning properties (odour,

  • taste, eye and respiratory tract irritation).

  • Special application rules must be observed.

  • Gas filters do not protect against particles, particle filters do not protect against gases!
In case of doubt, use combination filters.

  • Use these filters before their expiry date.

  • Improper use can cause serious injury, damage to your health or even death.

  • For proper use, refer to the instructions for use.

Markings on Filters

A1 (colour code: brown) – class 1, for use against a low-capacity filter, for filtration of organic gases/vapours with a boiling point of 2:65°. B1 (colour code: grey) – category 1, for use against inorganic gases and vapours (not CO) e.g. chlorine, H2S, HCN. E1 (colour code: yellow) – category 1, for use against sulphur dioxide and other acid gases/vapours. K1 (colour code: green) – category 1, for use against ammonia and organic ammonia derivatives. P2 (colour code: white) – low filtration efficiency against particulate matter (test aerosol: sodium chloride/paraffin oil). P3 (colour code: white) – high particle filtration efficiency (test aerosol: sodium chloride/paraffin oil). R – the part of the particle filter of the combined filter is reusable. D – combined filters meeting the clogging requirements are suitable for mask models BPP2460 and BPP2462.

  • In all cases, the most accurate value should be followed.
  • Different national regulations must be followed.

Use Instructions

  • Check the packaging and the filter before use. Do not use if there are signs of wear and tear, such as holes or tears in the packaging film or deformation of the shape, crack or damage to the filter.
  • Before use, read this instruction booklet very carefully and ensure that the user fully understands all instructions contained in it.
  • Filters should be replaced as soon as increased resistance to breathing occurs.
  • Filters can only provide protection from certain gases, see the marking on the filter to select the appropriate filter for use.
  • When replacing filters keep them away from contaminated areas.
  • Before application remove the connectors, screw the filter to the mask and check the sealing seat.
  • Attention! Hair (beard) or scars can prevent the sealing seat.

Use Limitations

This filter must never be used under the following conditions:

  • Do not use in oxygen-enriched environment. When in an oxygen-enriched environment, where the oxygen concentration is >23.5%, it becomes dangerous when the concentration increases. There is no limit, even a little more increases the risk. Fires in oxygen enriched atmospheres are easily started by electrostatic sparks and are very intense.
  • When the concentration of harmful gases exceeds 0.1 %.
  • When there is risk of explosion.
  • Close to source of flame or liquid metal droplets that may cause serious risk due to ignition of active carbon in the filters which may generate acute levels of toxic substances (CO-/C02- formation).
  • The percentage of oxygen in the inhaled air cannot remain less than 19.5%.
  • Do not enter with breathing protection filters in unventilated containers (e.g. tanks), pits, canals and narrow spaces. Protective equipment must be used here.
  • Filters/filter sets which are heavier than 150 g should only be used with half/full mask.

Inspection Procedure

  • Examine all plastic and rubber parts for signs of cracks or wear. Make sure the filter gaskets are properly installed and in good condition.
  • No maintenance is required for this type of filter.

Cleaning and Storage Instructions

  • After using, remove the filter from facepiece and store them separately.
  • This filter does not need cleaning.
  • Chemical filters should be stored in the airtight container when not in use to prevent them from being affected by moisture. Warning: Improper storage conditions may affect the life of the filter.
  • Used filters should be disposed of in accordance with applicable local laws and guidelines.
  • Observe the storage time and expiry date! After opening the packaging they can be used for another 6 months!

Filter Assembly and Replacing Instruction
(Suitable for double fitting masks)

  • Align the filter with the base of the facepiece and assemble them. Rotate the filter clockwise until it stops.
  • Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove the filter.
  • Twin filters/double filters should always be changed in pairs and two filters of the same filter category should always be used. NOTE: The facepiece is double filtering device.

Service

  • Chemical filters should only be used before the expiry date on the packaging.
  • The useful life of this device depends on the following equation:
    • The user’s activity (breathing rate).
    • The specific type, volatility and concentration of pollutants.
    • Environmental conditions such as humidity, pressure and temperature.
    • Proper handling of filters.
  • The integrity of the respirator should be checked and filters should be replaced as soon as the user begins to smell or taste the contaminant or when irritation occurs.
