Installation method

The AmbiGlow is composed of 3 main separate elements: the power adapter, the LED strip and the control unit and sensor.

Firstly, connect the power adapter to the mains and then connect its round connector to the control unit. Then, connect the control unit to the LED strips with its USB-C connector.

Then, peel off the LED strip cover so that it can glue to the back of your TV. Take your time and make sure that you glue the LED strip properly. Once you have done so, you can cut off the amount of strip that remains or simply keep on gluing it to the back of your TV or on top of the LED strip that you have already glued.

Note: In case you cut the LED strip, make sure that you cut through the parts that have 4 copper color shapes.

To capture the color properly, the sensor needs to be placed on top of your TV. It is specifically designed to aim towards the screen without interfering with what is being displayed on your TV, so it does not block anything you are watching. The sensor works with a simple clamp system. Pull from the bottom part of the sensor until it adapts to the width of your TV. Then, simply place it on top of your TV and the clamp will fix it.

Safety note: Do not cover the product once it is installed and connected to the power. Do not install the product in a wet place.

Download the app

The AmbiGlow compatible app is called Tuya Smart. There are two ways to download it:

Pairing iOS / Android devices

To complete the pairing, the strip must be powered on.

1. First, and most importantly, make sure to have your smartphone’s Bluetooth and WiFi enabled.

2. Set the device in pairing mode. To do so, press the “On/Off” button on the control unit for 5 seconds. The strips will start flashing.

3. Access the Tuya Smart app. Once inside, tap on add device.

4. If the device is in pairing mode, it will appear as in the following image. Tap on add.

5. Before your smartphone and the AmbiGlow start pairing, the app will ask for your WiFi address and password. Type both in and then on next.

6. Then, your smartphone and the strip will start pairing. Once the pairing is finished, tap on done.

Note:

1. For a correct synchronization with the mobile phone, it is necessary to accept all the accesses requested by the app.
2. When linking your phone with the device for the first time, you must be connected to a WiFi network. Make sure that the light flashes and that the WiFi password you have entered is correct.
3. Only compatible with 2.4 GHZ WLAN, Android 7.0 and above and iOS 11.0 and above. Do not use 5G WiFi.
4. The first connection should be made close to the router to ensure a faster connection.
5. When connecting multiple devices to the WiFi network, do not place them too close together as this may cause signal interference.

App Use

The Tuya Smart app is very simple and intuitive to use. Make sure to accept all the permissions that pop up in order to use all the app functions.

• RGB color control

From the main screen of the Tuya Smart app you will be able to adjust the color that the AmbiGlow shows, as well as the brightness. You will also be able to power it on or off.

• Scene modes

Tap on the light bulb icon to access the scene modes function. From here you will be able to select various default scene modes (Dining  pattern, Romantic mode, Entertainment mode and Party mode). You will also be able to increase or decrease the brightness and the speed of the lighting patterns.

Tap on the “+” icon to access the scene mode creation tool.

With this tool you will be able to customize your own scene mode. To create color change sequences, follow these steps:

1. Tap on the desired color or use the gradient.
2. Tap on the “+” icon and the color that you have chosen will be saved.
3. Repeat the process as many times as you like in order to create a color sequence.
4. Choose the effect that you will want the scene mode to display.
5. Save the settings.

You will also be able to display scene modes through the “M” control unit button.

• Music / Sound sync

To access the music and sound tool tap on the 3rd icon at the bottom of the screen. From here you will be able to set lighting patterns that follow what the control unit mic captures. There are three default music/sound settings, as you will see in  the following image. To select one, simply tap on it.

Tap on the “+” icon to access the custom effect creation tool.

It functions in the same way as the scene mode creation tool. With this tool you will also be able to select the sensibility to the sound, as well as choose a name and a description for the effect.

• Color capturing

The most unique feature of the AmbiGlow is that it incorporates a sensor that captures the images in your TV/monitor screen in order to display it and offer a sense of  immersion. To set this function, simply access the 3rd app section, the same as the music/sound sync. Once you are there, tap on the color change option, at the top left of your screen.

This is the color capturing tool. It includes 2 syncing options: Number One Player, as well as Extreme Viewing.

Number One Player is recommended for video games and Extreme Viewing is recommended for movies and TV series. To make use of this tool the strip and the sensor must be properly placed and installed. Make sure that the sensor is properly aiming towards the screen of your TV/monitor.

• Set timers

The Tuya Smart app will also let you schedule timers.

Access the clock icon at the bottom right of the screen to access the function. Once inside, tap on the “+” icon.

Select a time countdown in which you will want the AmbiGlow to display turn on and display lighting. Make sure to enable the state and then tap on save.

Device Settings

To access the device and app settings tap on the icon at the right corner of your screen.

From here you will be able to configure certain features of the AmbiGlow, such as its device name, and access device information, among other data.

More About the App

You can adjust the different functions from the menu button at the top right corner of the App.

1. The device name can be changed as desired.
2. Device information.
3. Tap-to-Run and Automation allows you to check the Intelligent Automation to which your device is linked.
4. Disconnection notice: allows you to alert yourself when your device is offline.
5. Create “Group” to control another smart device at the same time.
6. FAQ & Feedback allows users to report issues and obtain assistance.
7. Add to Home Screen allows you to add the smart device to your smartphone’s home screen.
8. Check the network of the device to check the status of the network connection.
9. Firmware information allows you to check the software or install updates on the device.

Control Unit Use

On/Off button: Press this button to power on or off the AmbiGlow. Press it for approximately 5 seconds in order to set the device on pairing mode or to reset it.

Scene modes button: Press this button for the AmbiGlow to display scene modes and switch between them.

Music/Sound sync & Color capturing: Press this button to set the AmbiGlow lightning in sync with music or sounds that the control unit microphone captures. Press it again to activate the color capturing function.

Warnings

• Please, strictly follow this user manual to install and use the product to avoid accidents.
• Do not disrupt the bulb or modify any component.
• Turn off the power and the main electrical panel before installing or doing maintenance tasks to avoid damage from electric shock.
• Do not install the lamp on unstable or unsafe ceilings.
• Do not cover the lamp with blankets or similar objects.
• Do not handle the bulb or any other lamp component for installation, repairing or checking unless you are a qualified electrician. Wire connecting must follow IEE electric standard or any other valid national standard.
• Do not install the lamp above hot or wet surfaces.

Maintenance Recommendations

• Regularly clean the product with a dry cloth. The product must be disconnected or switched on when you clean it.
• Keep the connectors and/or ports free from dust, lint, etc. to prevent improper connections.
• Avoid breaking the device. Do not put objects over it or bend it too strong.
• If the product includes a cable do not bend it too strong and do not pull from it to unplug the product.
• Do not wet the product. Keep it always in a dry place, away from humidity.
• When not using the product, store it in a place free from dust, dirt, lint, liquids, etc.
• If water or other liquids enter the product interior, unplug it immediately from any attached power source or device it is connected to.
• Avoid dropping or hitting the product. It might be damaged.
• Do not use the product for anything other than its intended use.
• Please recycle the product in accordance with local environmental laws and regulations.
