1.1 Basic information
Telethings teleButton is a wireless device designed for use in long-range
LoRa wireless technology for data transmission. Depending on the version of
the device, it may contain 1, 2, 4 or 6 control buttons (Figure 1). Pressing
any button it broadcasts the pressed button ID to the surrounding devices.
This device is intended for use and pairing with some other of our devices for
applications like relay control and etc.
The device has a CR2045 3.3 VDC battery and as such belongs to the group of
devices with extremely low consumption.
WORK PRINCIPLE OF THE DEVICE
LoRa (from “long range”) is a physical proprietary radio communication
technique. It is based on spread spectrum modulation techniques derived from
chirp spread spectrum (CSS) technology. In other words, small number of bytes
over long range transmission.
Excitation of the device is done by pressing any of the buttons (depending on
the version, whether it is a device with 1, 2, 4 or 6 buttons). After pressing
the button, the device loads all the settings related to that button and
controls the paired devices, if paired with one, but in general it broadcasts
the button ID. Each of the keys has its own unique ID number whose values are
given below:
- Button 1 → ID = 0
- Button 2 → ID = 1
- Button 3 → ID = 2
- Button 4 → ID = 3
- Button 5 → ID = 4
- Button 6 → ID = 5
By pressing any of the buttons, the command is transmitted to the paired devices via the LoRa interface.
2.1 Sending a request for registration/deregistration
As already mentioned, in order to effectively use the device, it must be
registered to at least one of our other devices from the allowed group of
devices. In order to register the device, it is necessary to do the following
procedure (valid for all hardware versions of the device):
- Press button 1 and hold it for a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 seconds
- After a proper button press, the device sends a registration request, after which it should receive a response from the device that received the request
- If the answer is confirmative, the device is paired, and it is possible to start the button pairing process (if necessary)
- A certain type of signaling is proof of the validity of a successful registration
The process of sending deregistration request is similar and consists of the following:
- Press button 1 and hold it for a minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 seconds
- After a proper button press, the device sends a deregistration request, after which it should receive a response about successful deregistration from the device that received that request
- A certain type of signaling is proof of the validity of a successful deregistration
2.2 Normal working mode
As already stated, the device is idle most of the time. The device is
activated by pressing any of the buttons, after which the device loads the
settings related to the pressed button and transmits data about the pressed
button (key ID, pairing settings, etc.) depending on the type of device and
type of system in which the device is used.
