Allow the appliance to cool down, unplug and carefully remove the bread.

OPERATING TOASTER

  • Insert the plug into the mains socket and switch on.

  • Place your bread or muffins into the bread slots.

  • Select the desired browning setting, from 1 to 7 with the variable setting control dial. Number 1 being the lightest and number 7 being the darkest.

  • When using the toaster for the first time we suggest you toast on number 3. Varying types of bread and personal preference may require a different browning setting.
    Instructions For Use

  • Press the carriage control lever down until it clicks into place. The toasting cycle will automatically commence.
Please note: if the toaster is not plugged in and switched on at the socket the carriage control lever will not click down into place.

  • The toasting time remaining is indicated by the red lights under the variable setting control. The number of lights shown will decrease as the time remaining decreases.

  • Toaster turns off when the desired toast colour is achieved and automatically raises the toast. The toasting process can be stopped at any time by pressing the cancel button.

WARNING: If toasting small bread slices less than 8.5cm in length, you must pay attention to the potential risk of burning your fingers when taking out the slices.

TOASTING

  • Your toaster has been specially designed with a large toasting slots to accommodate, and evenly toast, most types of breads. Ensure the toaster is plugged into the mains socket and the toasting lever is in the up position.
  • Toasting is a combination of cooking and drying of the bread, therefore differences in moisture levels from one bread to another can lead to varying toasting results.
  • Insert the slice(s) into the bread slot(s). Never force foods into the bread slots. Foods should fit freely between the slots.
  • Press the carriage control lever down until it locks into position. It will only lock into position if the toaster is connected to the mains and switched on.
  • When the cycle is complete, the toaster will automatically raise the bread.
  • If you wish to stop the cycle before it has finished, simply press the CANCEL button.
  • After use, switch off and unplug the toaster from the mains socket.

DEFROST SETTING

  • To toast frozen bread, the DEFROST setting is designed to first defrost and then toast the bread in one automatic cycle.
  • Select the browning level using the variable setting control.
  • Ensure the toaster is plugged into the mains socket and switched on.
  • Press the lever down until it locks into position.
  • Press the DEFROST button. The red light on the button indicates the feature is activated. Please note: the button can only be activated once the lever is down.
  • When the cycle is complete, the toaster will automatically raise the bread.

REHEAT SETTING

  • To reheat your toast, the REHEAT setting is designed to warm up already toasted bread in one automatic cycle.
  • Ensure the toaster is plugged into the mains socket and switched on.
  • Press the lever down until it locks into position.
  • Press the REHEAT button. The red light on the button indicates the feature is activated. Please note: the button can only be activated once the lever is down.
  • When the cycle is complete, the toaster will automatically raise the bread.
  • The browning setting does not effects the timing of this.

CRUMB TRAY

  • The toaster is equipped with a removable crumb tray to collect crumbs during toasting. We recommend that the crumb tray is removed and emptied on a regular basis.
  • To empty, switch off and unplug the toaster, locate the tray which is fitted in the base of the toaster, it can be accessed from the rear of the toaster.
  • Hold the black part of the crumb tray and slide out. Discard the crumbs and replace by sliding back into position.
  • To remove any remaining pieces in the toaster, turn it upside down and shake gently, over the sink, to enable them to drop out.
  • Never insert a knife or any sharp object in the toaster as this could cause damage.
  • DO NOT use the toaster without the crumb tray in place.
  • The crumb tray should be cleaned regularly.
  • DO NOT allow crumbs to build up in the tray.

In the unlikely event that the bread or crumpets etc. become jammed, switch the toaster off at the socket, unplug and carefully ease the bread out of the toaster, ensuring that you do not damage the element.

HINTS AND TIPS

  • For slightly dry bread, use a lower setting than you normally would.
  • For very fresh or whole wheat bread, use a higher setting than normal.
  • Breads with very uneven surfaces will require a higher toast setting.
  • Thick cut pieces of bread will take longer to toast, sometimes significantly longer, since more moisture must be evaporated from the bread before toasting can begin.
  • Sweet bread products e.g. tea cakes, fruit loaf etc. brown more quickly than ordinary bread, so it is best to use a lower setting.
  • When toasting raisin or other fruit breads, remove any loose raisins etc. from the surface of the bread before toasting. This will help to prevent fruit pieces from falling into the toaster or sticking to the guide wires in the slot.
  • If you are toasting a single slice of bread, set the variable setting control at a lower level than normal. The toaster is designed to heat the whole toasting chamber, so by lowering the heat for a single slice, you will not over toast.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: Why won’t the carriage control lever stay down?
Answer: It may not be plugged in and switched on at the socket. Check it is plugged in and switched on.

Answer: The bread may be dry, therefore requires a lower browning setting.
Question: Why is my toast not toasted?

RECYCLING YOUR ELECTRICALS

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires UK distributors to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of WEEE.
UK distributors (including retailers) are required to provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge.
