- This Steam Iron has variable heat settings covering all fabrics that can be ironed, from synthetics to linen and everything in between. You can continuously steam, dry iron or water spray to get that perfect pressed finish. A stem shot button for that quick shot of power and vertical steam can also be used for refreshing curtains and garments on hangers. It has a smooth gliding non-stick Teflon soleplate to give a smooth gliding performance.

Always use the appliance on a dry, level, heat-resistant surface. Do not allow the power cord to touch hot surfaces or the soleplate. Allow the iron to cool completely before storing it in an upright position.

Unplug from the mains when not in use and before cleaning. To disconnect, turn the socket to ‘OFF’ and remove the plug from the main socket.

Do not use any accessories or attachments with this appliance other than those recommended by Lakeland.

To protect against fire, electric shock, or personal injury, do not immerse the cord, plug, or lid in water or other liquids.

Do not leave the lead hanging over the edge of an ironing board, kitchen table, or worktop, where it may be pulled by children or tripped over. Avoid contact between the lead and hot surfaces.

This appliance should be used for ironing fabric as described within the instructions for use that accompany it.

Always ensure that your hands are dry before removing the plug from the main socket. Never pull the plug out of the mains socket by its lead.

To avoid injury or possible fire, do not cover the appliance when in use.

Not recommended to be used with a plug-in timer switch.

An earthed extension cable may be used with care. The electrical rating of the cable should be at least as great as the appliance. Do not allow the cable to hang over the edge of the worktop or touch any hot surfaces.
WARNING: A cut-off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is a serious safety(shock) hazard. Ensure the cut-off plug is disposed of safely.
CAUTION: The plastic bags used to wrap this appliance or the packaging may be dangerous. To avoid the risk of suffocation, keep these bags out of reach of babies and children. These bags are not toys. -
DO NOT leave the iron unattended when in use.

Unplug the iron before filling or emptying the water tank, before cleaning and maintenance, and immediately after use.

Only use water in the water tank. DO NOT add perfume, vinegar, chemically de-scaled water or any other substances into the water tank.
WARNING – HOT SURFACES
- Do not touch the surfaces marked with this symbol . they will be very hot during and just after use.
- Hot surfaces can burn and hot steam can scald, and possible injury could occur.
- Allow the appliance to cool completely before touching, handling, moving, or storing it.
USING YOUR STEAM IRON FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Unpack the iron, remove all the packaging materials, and check that nothing is on the soleplate.
- Unwind the power cord.
- Fill the iron with tap water, as described below in ‘Filling the Water Tank.
- Stand the iron upright on its anti-slip heel. Make sure the steam control slider is turned to the ‘Steam Off’ setting.

Plug in and switch on at the socket.

The heat indicator light will illuminate orange when the iron is on, to show that there is power to it. When the iron has reached temperature the heat indicator light will go out.
The soleplate has reached temperature. -
When you switch on the iron for the first time you may notice a slight burning smell, this is normal for a new appliance and will stop after a few uses.

Increase the heat setting to the highest temperature, by turning the temperature dial up to ‘MAX’.

Some residue may remain inside the iron from manufacturing, so iron an old cotton cloth or tea towel for first use, do not use the iron on your laundry. Press the steam shot and water spray buttons to run water through the iron.
INCREASING AND DECREASING THE HEAT SETTINGS
- To increase the heat setting, turn the temperature dial clockwise till the desired setting lines up with the raised part in front of the heat indicator light.
- To decrease the heat setting, turn the temperature dial anti-clockwise till the desired setting lines up with the raised part in front of the heat indicator light.
FILLING THE WATER TANK
- For best results, always make sure there is plenty of water in the tank when ironing, but do not fill the tank beyond the ‘MAX’ level. Only use water in the water tank. DO NOT add perfume, vinegar, chemically descaled water or any other substances into the water tank.
- Always make sure the iron is switched off and unplugged from the socket.
- Slide the steam control slider to the ‘Steam Off’ position. This is to prevent water from leaking from the soleplate onto your laundry.
- Open the water tank cover.
- Use the water jug to fill the tank with tap water, until the ‘MAX’ mark is reached. Never fill the water tank level beyond the ‘MAX’ mark.
- Close the water tank cover and wipe any water off the iron.
ANTI-CALC SYSTEM
- There is a special resin filter inside the water tank, which softens the water and prevents limescale build-up in the steamer panel. The resin filter is permanent and does not need replacing.
- PLEASE NOTE: Use tap water only. Distilled and demineralized water makes the anti-calc system ineffective by altering its physicochemical characteristics.
- DO NOT add perfume, vinegar, chemically descaled water, or any other substances into the water tank. Failure to comply with the above-mentioned regulations leads to the loss of guarantee.

ANTI-DRIP SYSTEM
- The anti-drip system automatically stops water from escaping from the soleplate when it is too cold.
- When ironing fabrics at low temperatures, the soleplate may cool down to the point where no more steam comes out, which could lead to drops of boiling water that can leave marks or stains. In these cases, the anti-drip system automatically activates to prevent vaporization, so that you can iron the most delicate fabrics without the risk of spoiling or staining them.
- During use, it may make a clicking sound, especially during heat-up or while cooling down. This is normal and indicates that the system is working correctly.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Starting ironing garments requires a low temperature first. Reducing the waitingtime, the iron takes less time to heat up than to cool down. It will eliminate the risk of scorching the fabric.
- Fill the iron with tap water, as described in ‘Filling the Water Tank.
- Stand the iron upright on its anti-slip heel. Make sure the steam control slider is turned to ‘Steam Off.
- Plug in and switch on at the socket. The heat indicator light will then illuminate.
- When the heat indicator light goes out, the soleplate has reached temperature.
SETTING THE STEAM OUTPUT
WARNING: This appliance generates high-temperature steam. To avoid the
risk of severe burns, never touch the soleplate during use. Always hold the
iron by its handle.
- To ensure good steam output, always make sure the water tank is at least a quarter full.
- To dry iron without steam, make sure the steam control slider is turned to ‘Steam Off.
- Move the steam control slider towards the right of the iron for more steam. The nearer it is to ‘Setting 2’ the more steam will come through the soleplate, depending on the quantity of steam required and the heat temperature setting selected.
- Delicate synthetic fabrics should be ironed without steam.
WARNING: The iron gives off steam continuously only if you hold the iron
horizontally. You can stop the continuous steam by placing the iron in a
vertical positionor by moving the steam control slider to ‘Steam Off.
STEAM SHOT BUTTON
- Use this button for an extra burst of steam to help smooth out stubborn creases and wrinkles.
- Great for denim and linen, it can be used when you are ironing with or without steam.
- Lift the iron slightly above the fabric surface and press the steam shot button firmly. You may need to press the button a few times at first, to pump water through the system.
- Release the button as you iron, a shot of steam will penetrate deep into the fibers.
- For a strong steam shot, wait at least 4 seconds before pressing the button again.
VERTICAL STEAM SHOT
- You can use the steam shot button when the iron is vertical. It is great for taking creases out of curtains and garments on hangers. Follow the instructions in ‘Steam Shot’, holding the iron upright 15 to 30cm away from the fabric to avoid scorching.
WARNING : Ensure the iron is pointed away from you and other people when using the steam shot button. Never iron clothes whilst they are being worn. Keep your fingers at a safe distance from the tip of the soleplate to avoid burning. You do not get a continuous flow of steam on this setting, it is a powerful burst of very hot steam which can burn.
WATER SPRAY BUTTON
- Use this button to lightly spray your fabric with water on really stubborn creases. It can be used when you are ironing with or without steam.
- Aim the spray nozzle at your fabric and press the water spray button a couple of times to dampen the fabric with a fine mist of water, then iron.
- Delicate synthetic fabrics should be ironed without steam but can be sprayed.
WARNING: For delicate fabrics, we recommend moistening the fabric beforehand using the water spray or putting a damp cloth between the iron and the fabric. To avoid staining, do not use the spray on silk or synthetic fabrics.
DRY IRONING
- To iron without steam, leave the steam selector in the position ‘Steam Off’.
SWITCHING OFF
- When you have finished ironing, place the iron on its anti-slip heel, move the steam control slider to ‘Steam Off’, turn off at the socket and unplug. Leave the iron to cool down completely.
- After every use, empty the water tank.
- Open the water tank cover and drain the water from the tank into a sink.
- Close the water tank cover.
- Always store the iron standing upright on its anti-slip heel in a safe, dry place, with the tank empty and soleplate cooled.
HINTS AND TIPS
- We recommend using the lowest temperatures with fabrics that have unusual finishes e.g. sequins, embroidery, flush, etc.
- Never iron over zips or rivets in the fabric, this will damage the soleplate.
- Always check first whether a label with ironing instructions is attached to the article. Follow these ironing instructions in any case. If no ironing-instruction label is provided you know the fabric material, please refer to the table on page 8.
- If the fabric is mixed e.g. 40% cotton and 60% synthetics, set the heat setting to the temperature of the fiber requiring the lower temperature.
- Divide the clothes to be ironed according to their temperatures. Woolen fabrics and cotton fabrics etc. should be ironed separately.
- An iron heats up quicker than cooling down, therefore, you should start ironing the articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made from a synthetic material.
- Pure wool fabrics (100% wool) may be ironed with the iron set at a steam position. Preferably set the steam knob to the ‘Setting 2’ position and use a dry cloth as a mat.
- If you don’t know the composition of the fabric, determine the suitable temperature by testing on a hidden corner of the garment. Start with a low temperature and increase it gradually until it reaches the ideal temperature. Never iron areas with traces of perspiration or other marks, the heat of the plate fixes the stains on the fabric, making them irremovable.
- To avoid marking silk, woolen or synthetic garments shiny, iron them inside out.
- To avoid marking velvet garments shiny, iron in one direction, follow the fiber, and do not press down on the iron.
- The heavier a washing machine is loaded, the more garments come out creased
- This also happens when the spin-drying revolutions are very high.
- Many fabrics are easier to iron if they are not completely dry i.e. silk should always be ironed damp.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is there a clicking sound?
The anti-drip system automatically stops water from escaping from the
soleplate when the iron is too cold. During use, it may make a clicking sound,
especially during heat-up or while cooling down. This is normal and indicates
that the system is working correctly.
Why is the soleplate cold even though my iron is plugged in?
Check the iron is plugged in and switched on at the socket. There could be a
problem with the socket, if so, try a different socket. If the iron is still
not working contact the Lakeland Customer Services team at 015394 88100 or

Why is no steam coming out of the iron?
There may not be enough water in the water tank, see ‘Filling the Water Tank.
Alternatively, the steam control slider is in the ‘Steam Off” position, slide
it toward the ‘MAX setting’.
Why is the Steam shot button not working?
There may not be enough water in the tank, see ‘Filling the Water Tank’, If
you are using the steam shot for the first time, press the button a few times
to pump water through the iron until you get a powerful steam shot.
Why is the water spray button not working?
There may not be enough water in the tank, see ‘Filling the Water Tank’. If
you are using the water spray button for the first time, press the button a
few times to pump water through the iron until you get a spray mist.
Why is water leaking from the soleplate?
Always turn the steam control slider to the ‘Steam Off position when filling
the water tank
Why is the iron damaging the fabric?
Check the care label of the garment to see whether the fabric is suitable for
ironing. This iron cannot be used on unironable fabrics. If you are unsure,
test the iron on the inside of the hem of the garment.
Why are flakes and impurities coming out of the soleplate?
Hard water can cause minerals and limescale to build up inside the steam
chamber. Follow the instructions in the ‘Care and Cleaning’ section.
CARE AND CLEANING
- Switch off and unplug the iron, and let it cool completely before cleaning.
- Clean thoroughly before using for the first time and after every use.
- Check the parts for wear or damage after every few uses.
- Certain fabric finishes may leave a residue on the soleplate, which can affect the performance and lead to ‘drag when ironing. This coating may be removed by wiping the soleplate with a textured cloth. Dry with a soft cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or wire wool to clean the soleplate.
- To clean the steam holes, take a damp cloth and wipe away any build-up around the holes.
- Take care not to damage or scratch the soleplate by allowing it to come into contact with metal objects such as zips.
- Never use sharp or rough objects to remove the deposits on the soleplate.
- The outside of the iron can be wiped with a clean damp cloth, and dried thoroughly before storing
- Never immerse the iron in water or any other liquid.
- Never put vinegar or other descaling agents into the water tank.
- Empty the reservoir by turning the iron upside down and gently shaking it.
- Always store the iron empty, cooled, and standing upright in a safe, dry place with the cord loosely coiled.
- Always put the iron away in a vertical position.
SELF CLEAN FUNCTION
The Steam Iron already has a built-in anti-calc system to combat limescale build-up, but you can use the ‘Self Clean’ function regularly to prolong the life of your iron. This function removes mineral and limescale build-up inside. We recommend using it every 10-15 days.
- Never put vinegar or any other descaling agents in the water tank.
- Unplug the Steam Iron and set the steam control to the off position.
- Fill the iron with tap water, so the tank is to the ‘MAX’ level, as described in ‘Filling the Water Tank.
- Plug in and switch on at the wall socket, near the sink.
- Set the temperature dial to the maximum position.
- Stand the iron upright on its base.
- The iron will start to preheat, when the heat indicator light turns off, slide and hold the steam control slider to the self-clean position.
- Over a sink with the iron in a horizontal position shake the iron backwards and forwards and rock from side to side. Steam and hot water will sprinkle through the holes in the soleplate.
- When all the water has drained through, release the Self Clean’ slider.
- Stand the iron on its anti-slip heel.
- Switch off and unplug the iron.
- When the soleplate has cooled down, dry it with a cloth.
- Repeat the self-clean process if the water coming out of the iron still contains scale particles.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
The appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug to BS1363 which is
suitable for use in all homes fitted with sockets to current specifications.
CHANGING THE 13 AMP FUSE
Use a 13 amp BS1362 fuse. Only BSI or ASTA-approved fuses should be used. If
you are unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to a qualified
electrician.
Note: After replacing or changing a fuse on a molded plug that has a fuse
cover, the cover must be refitted to the plug; the appliance must not be used
without a fuse cover.
If lost, replacement fuse covers can be obtained from an electrical shop.
