Product Usage Instructions

  1. Cut out the door according to the manufacturer’s listing procedure.
  2. If using steel fire-rated doors, there is no need for an opening reinforcing channel or reinforcing clips.
  3. Install glass and glazing material into the lite kit.
  4. Position the outer frame in the door cutout.
  5. Place the inner frame, insert, and start all screws before fully tightening.
  6. Tighten screws in a criss-cross pattern to ensure even pressure. Avoid stripping the material when using power screw driving equipment.
  7. For field painting, scuff the finish with a Scotch-Brite pad before painting for best results.

    • A: For UL10C Positive Pressure rated fire doors with 1/4 fire-rated wired glass, use closed cell PVC foam glazing tape like NGP L-GT-114, L-GT-116, L-GT-118, L-GT132 or L-GT-316. For higher ratings like 45, 60, or 90 minutes, utilize NGP 9800C or 3M GIS intumescent glazing tape.
  • Q: How should I determine the glass size for ordering?
    • A: Cut the glass to be ordered size less 1 for exposed glass or less 2 for the order size.

Installation Instructions

  1. Cut out door in accordance with door manufacturer listing procedure. Steel fire-rated doors do NOT require an opening reinforcing channel or reinforcing clips.
  2. Install glass & glazing material (sold separately), into lite kit.
  3. Position the outer frame in door cut out.
  4. Position the inner frame and insert and start all screws before fully tightening.
  5. Tighten screws using a crisscross pattern. Use caution when using power screw driving equipment to avoid stripping the material.

For Fire Rated Doors, using 1/4″ fire-rated wired glass: 20 & 45 minutes = 1,296 sq. inches max visible glass, 54″ max height, 54″ max width. 60 & 90 minute = 100 sq. inches max visible glass, 33″ max height, 10″ max width. Sizes exceeding those shown above may be achieved using Pyran® Platinum F, Protect3™ or TEMP20™. Maximum size is determined by the glass listing (in doors) and door manufacturer listing. UL10C Positive Pressure rated fire doors using 1/4″ firerated wired glass: 20 min requires closed cell PVC foam glazing tape like NGP L-GT-114, L-GT-116, L-GT-118, L-GT- 132 or L-GT-316. 45, 60 or 90 min requires NGP 9800C or 3M GIS intumescent glazing tape.
