Product Usage Instructions

  1. Hang the door bottom ensuring beveled actuator rod settings face stops on the frame.
  2. Trim gasket material to extend just beyond each end of the door bottom.
  3. Position the door bottom on the push side of the door with the bottom of the case flush with the bottom of the door and 1/16 clearance at each end. Mark screw holes.
  4. Drill pilot holes for screws using a 7/64 drill bit.
  5. Install the door bottom using the provided screws.
  6. Attach the snap-on cover.
  7. To set for proper seal, increase the drop by pulling and turning the beveled actuator rods left, or reduce the drop by pulling and turning right. Maximum Drop = 1/2.

Field Sizing: Door bottoms 36 inches and longer can be cut a maximum of 1-1/2 inches on each end. Door bottoms shorter than 36 inches should not be field cut – order net length. Only cut both ends if necessary to cut more than 1-1/2 inches.

Positive Pressure Tested Gasketing Materials for Fire Doors: Suitable for hollow-metal-type fire doors rated up to 3 hours and wood-type fire doors rated up to 1-1/2 hours. Smoke and Draft Control gasketing (Category H) tested to UL 1784; meets requirements of NFPA 105, IBC for use on S label doors.

  • Can this door bottom be used on double doors?
    No, this door bottom is designed for single doors only.

  • What should I do if I need to adjust the drop beyond 1/2 inch?
    Adjusting beyond 1/2 inch drop will damage the door bottom and void the warranty. Please contact National Guard Products Inc. for assistance.

  • Can this product be used on fire doors?
    Yes, this product is suitable for use on hollow-metal-type fire doors rated up to 3 hours and wood-type fire doors rated up to 1-1/2 hours.

Installation Instructions

  1. Hand the door bottom. Pull and turn each side of the beveled actuator rod setting bevel edges to face stops on frame.
  2. Trim gasket material to extend just beyond each end of the door bottom.
  3. With door closed, position on push side of door with bottom of case flush with bottom of door and 1/16″ clearance at each end, mark screw holes
  4. Drill pilot holes for screws using 7/64″ drill bit.
  5. Install with screws provided.
  6. Attach the snap-on cover.
  7. Set for proper seal. To increase the drop, pull and turn the beveled actuator rods left. To reduce the drop, pull and turn the beveled actuator rods right. Maximum Drop = 1/2″.

FIELD SIZING:
Door bottoms 36″ and longer, maximum cut is 1-1/2″ each end. Door bottoms shorter than 36″ should not be field cut – order net length.

  1. Remove screw in face of housing at end to be cut.
  2. Pull entire rod assembly out of housing.
  3. Remove beveled actuator rod from the plastic sleeve.
  4. Unscrew beveled actuator from the rod.
  5. Cut plastic sleeve at end without holes; and threaded end of rod the same amount.
  6. Slide gasketing clear of end to be cut.
  7. Cut housing and drop bar, by the same amount as the rod and plastic sleeve were cut.
  8. Slide gasketing back into place and trim to extend just beyond each end of the door bottom.
  9. Reassemble everything and slide the rod assembly back into the door bottom. Then replace the screw.
