Connection and installation
Function as a simple hoist
The cable hoist features 2 mounting brackets (1) that attach to a rectangular
beam. The beam must be the correct size for the mounting brackets and must be
able to carry double the rated load. To determine the exact mounting
parameters, contact a qualified technician. All screws must be fixed in place.
Before using the hoist for the first time, ask a qualified technician to check
that the beam is screwed in place.
Function as pulley
-
The cable hoist comes with a pulley (17) and a hook (18). When set up correctly, the cable hoist can carry double the load at the same motor power. The steel rope must be rated to carry the total load.
-
The pulley lifts the load using the steel rope. When used as a pulley, the cable hoist can carry double the load. The mounting hook (10) must be hung through the mounting hole (16) on the hoist housing.
-
Mount the pulley (17) and loading hook (18) as shown in the diagram. Start by removing the loading hook (remove the three screws).
-
Place the steel rope over the roller, and then attach the roller to the mounting hook and side components. Tighten the screws using your hand. The rope must run smoothly between the pulley’s side components.
-
Secure the large mounting screw on the loading hook (18) using the nut, and then tighten the other two screws and nuts. Do not overtighten the screws, otherwise the pulley may not run smoothly.
-
Use a suitable spanner or other tool to hold the screws in place. Hold the screw head firmly while tightening the nut.
-
Caution! Do not clamp the wire rope to the sides of the panel, as this may damage the rope. It must sit exactly in the guide slot on the roller.
Connection
- The mains socket that the hoist is connected to must be protected with a 10 A fuse or a 10 A residual current circuit breaker.
- Connect the mains plug to a suitable mains socket or an extension cable.
- The cable hoist is now ready to use.
Before first use
Follow the instructions below before using the hoist for the first time:
- Read the operating instructions carefully.
- Only configure the device when the mains cable is unplugged.
- The cable hoist has a lifespan of approximately 8000 cycles (excluding wearing parts). All mechanical parts must be checked and serviced when the hoist has completed 8000 cycles.
- Ensure that the person using the hoist knows how the product functions and is aware of the necessary safety precautions.
- If the brakes fail and the load drops quickly, touch the emergency stop button (9) immediately. You can also use the emergency stop button (9) to turn off the hoist in any other dangerous scenario. To reset the emergency stop button, turn it in the direction of the arrow.
- The rated power of the hoist does not vary with the position of the load.
- Inspect the frame, steel rope, hook and electrical components for signs of damage.
- The cable hoist is not designed for periods of prolonged use. Use the following formula to calculate the maximum operating time: Operating mode S3 – 20% – 10 minutes. S3 = Intermittent operation without considering the start-up process. This means that during a 10-minute period, the maximum operating time must not exceed 20 % of the reference period (2.0 minutes)
- Automatic shut-off: The limit switch automatically turns off the motor when the highest/lowest position of the steel rope/hook is reached.
Using the hoist
Preliminary information
Caution! Before first use, remove the adhesive tape from the rope on the
drum (15). The adhesive tape holds the rope in place during transport.
- The A-weighted noise level at the point of use is less than 75 dB.
- The supply voltage should conform to the following specifications: 230 V ± 10 %, 50 Hz ± 1 %.
- The cable hoist can be used at temperatures between 0 °C and 40 °C with a relative humidity of less than 85%. The height above sea level should not exceed 1000 m.
- The hoist can be stored and transported at temperatures between -25 °C and 55 °C. The temperature must not exceed 70 °C.
- Ensure that the load is lifted from the floor at the lowest speed. The rope must be kept taut until you have finished lifting the load.
- The hoist motor (2) features a thermostat that automatically switches the motor off when it gets too hot. The motor will switch back on again after it has cooled down.
- Do not leave hanging loads unattended without taking appropriate safety precautions.
- Only use the stop/limit switch (13/14) in an emergency. Always ensure that the small bolt in in front of the stop switch lever (13) is securely in place. Do not lose this part.
- Before you begin, ensure that the steel rope (12) is wrapped around the drum (15) correctly and that the distance between the coils is smaller than the diameter of the rope (see diagram in “b) Operation”).
- Ensure that the load is secured to the hook (10) (or loading hook (18) when used as a pulley). Always keep your distance from the load and rope (12).
Operation
Wear protective gloves when using the product.
- Before you begin, check that the switch is working correctly.
- Check whether the emergency switch (9) is pressed. If so, turn the red part of the emergency switch in the direction of the arrow to release it.
- Press the up button (7) to lift the load.
- Press the down button (6) to lower the load.
- Press the up button (7) briefly to remove the slack in the rope. If necessary, keep the rope taut and guide it with your hand before lifting the load. Always use suitable protective gloves. Never allow the rope to slide through your bare hands.
- The load should be lifted from the ground at the lowest possible speed. The rope should be taut when the load is lifted.
- Concentrate fully and do not allow yourself to become distracted.
- Do not leave hanging loads unattended without taking appropriate safety precautions. Secure the area under and around the load with suitable equipment.
- Only use the stop/limit switch (13/14) in an emergency.
- Before you begin, ensure that the steel rope (12) is wrapped around the drum (15) correctly and that the distance between the coils is smaller than the diameter of the rope (see diagrams below). The coils must be directly adjacent to one another and must not overlap.
When lifting/lowering the hoist without a load, we recommend that you keep the rope taut to ensure that the rope coils around the roller correctly. Always use suitable protective gloves. Never allow the rope to slide through your bare hands.
- Ensure that the load is secured to the hook (10) (or loading hook (17) when used as a pulley). Always keep your distance from the load and rope (12).
- When the maximum height is reached, the stop weight (11) moves the stop switch lever (13) upwards. This activates the stop switch and switches the motor off to prevent the load from moving.
- When the minimum height is reached, the limit switch (14) is activated to prevent the load from dropping further. This switch also prevents the hoist from moving in the wrong direction (i.e. the hook moves in the opposite direction to the direction indicated on the control box).
The hoist stops moving when the emergency stop button (9) is pressed. In the event of an emergency, press the emergency stop button (9) immediately to stop the hoist from moving. To resume use, release the emergency stop button by turning it in the direction of the arrow. The hoist motor (2) features a thermostat to prevent it from overheating. For example, the motor may stop when the hoist is used in strong sunlight. If the motor stops, wait for it to cool down and switch back on automatically.
