Safety Warning
Warning:
- Read the manual carefully before use. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in tool damage, physical injury, and/or property damage. Store the manual in a safe place for future reference.
- Use this product before the expiration date. The respirators help protect against certain airborne contaminants. Misuse may result in sickness or death. For proper use, see instructions.
- Before using, read the instructions very carefully and make sure that the wearer fully understands all the instructions in this booklet.
- Failure to follow all instructions and limitations by using the respirator and/or failure to wear this respirator during exposure at all times can reduce respiraton protection effectiveness and may result in sickness or death.
- The dust, fumes, mist, gases, and vapors can be dangerous to your health including those which you cannot see.
- Leave the contaminated area immediately and replace the respirator if:
- The respirator becomes damaged.
- You taste or smell contaminants or an irritation occurs.
- Breathing becomes difficult.
- Dizziness or other distress occurs.
- The cartridges or filters must be replaced as soon as increased breathing resistance occurs.
- Stay away from the contaminated areas when replacing the cartridges or paint pre-filters.
Use Limitations
- The full mask does not supply oxygen. Do not use it in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% oxygen.
- Do not use this respirator in oxygen-enriched air.
- Do not use this respirator in explosive atmospheres.
- Do not use this respirator when concentrations of contaminants are:
- lmmediately dangerous to life and health.
- Unknown contaminants.
- Do not abuse or misuse this respirator.
- The beard/mustache at the sealing area of the mask can cause leaks. Therefore, it is unlikely that the requirements for leakage will be achieved if this facial hair passes under the face seal. Always make sure the mask forms a tight seal and the cartridges and/or filters are attached before entering a hazardous atmosphere.
Inspection Procedure
The respirator must be inspected before each use to ensure that it is in good operating condition. The face piece should be replaced upon observation of damaged or defective parts. The following inspection procedure is suggested:
- Check the full mask for any cracks, tears,s and/or dirt.
- Make sure that the head straps are intact and have good elasticity.
- Examine all plastic and rubber parts for signs of cracking or fatigue.
Cleaning and Storage Instructions
- Cleaning is recommended after use; Remove the cartridges or filters before cleaning.
- Clean the face piece (excluding cartridges and filters) with medical grade alcohol, and let dry in room temperature.
- The cleaned respirator should be stored away in its original packaging or in a container box from contaminated areas when not in use. Always remember to stay away from direct daylight or any source of heat.
- The shelf life of an unused mask is five years.
Fitting Instructions
NOTE: Assemble cartridges/filters before wearing.
- Before using cartridges or filters must assemble onto the respirator and tighten them up clockwise (see Fig.1)
- Fully loosen all five head straps. With one hand pull your hair back from the sealing area. Place the chin in the chin cup of the respirator. While holding the facepiece in place, pull the head strap to the back of the head (see Fig. 2).
- Pull the ends of the five straps to adjust tightness starting with the neck straps first. Then the forehead straps. Do not over-lighten the straps (see Fig.3)
- Each time the respirator is worn, a positive and/or negative pressure seal check must be performed.
Negative Pressure Fit Check
NOTE: Assemble cartridges/filters before wearing.
Seal both respiratory filters and/or cartridges with your palms and breathe in
until a negative pressure (suction) is generated (see Fig.4). Hold your breath
for a moment. If you feel the respirator is slightly collapsing, pull closer
to your face with no leaks between the face and the face piece. In this way, a
proper fit has been achieved. If not, readjust the face piece and/or readjust
the straps to eliminate the air leakage. Repeat the test until a successful
fit check is achieved.
PERFORM A NEGATIVE PRESSURE FACE FIT CHECK. IF YOU CAN NOT ACHIEVE A PROPER FIT, DO NOT ENTER THE CONTAMINATED AREA.
