Product Usage Instructions

Installation

1. Using the provided template, mark holes on the door and frame for installation.
2. Drill pilot holes and secure with screws provided.
3. Attach shoe arm to the frame and mount the closer on the door with the speed adjusting valves towards the hinge edge.
4. Connect the main arm assembly to the top pinion shaft and adjust the length of the shoe arm to be perpendicular to the frame.
5. Adjust the closing speeds following the instructions provided at the bottom of the page.
6. Attach full cover or cap over the bottom shaft of the closer.

Closer Adjustment

CAUTION: Do not turn adjuster valves more than two (2) full turns counter-clockwise from its factory default position.

NOTE: Closing Speeds (CLOSE and LATCH) are controlled by two (2) separate speed adjusting valves.

• CLOSING Speed Adjustment: Turn the speed valve screw CLOCKWISE for a slower closing speed and COUNTER-CLOCKWISE for a faster closing speed.
• LATCH Speed Adjustment: Turn the speed valve screw CLOCKWISE for a slower latching speed and COUNTER-CLOCKWISE for a faster latching speed.

• Q: What should I do if the adjuster valves become dislodged?
  A: If the adjuster valves become dislodged, resulting in loss of internal fluid and device failure, contact customer support for assistance.

• Q: How do I know if my door is right-handed or left-handed?
  A: For a right-handed door, follow the provided template instructions. Mirror the template for a left-handed door installation.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

INSTRUCTION FOR A RIGHT HANDED DOOR TEMPLATE.
Template is set-up for a 120° – 140° Opening Angle.

CAUTION!
Do not turn adjuster valves more than two (2) full turns counter-clockwise from its factory default position.

DISTANCE FROM HINGE SIDE OF DOOR

Opening Angle| Dimension A
120° – 140°| 2-3/8” (60mm)
To 120°| 4-3/4” (120mm)

1. Using the chart above, select the Opening Angle and use Dimension A measurement to mark distance from doors edge. Mark four (4) holes on door for door closer and two (2) holes on frame for shoe arm using template above.
2. Drill 3/16” (5mm) pilot holes on door and frame, screw or drill and tap for 1/4-20 machine screws.
3. Separate shoe arm from main arm assembly (illustration 1-a) and install to frame using screws provided.
4. Mount closer on door using screws provided. SPEED ADJUSTING VALVES TOWARDS HINGE EDGE.
5. Install main arm to top pinion shaft, perpendicular to door as shown (illustration 1-a), secure tightly with arm screw/ washer assembly provided.
6. Adjust length of shoe arm so it is perpendicular to frame   when assembled or preloaded main arm (illustration 1-b).
7. Secure forearm to main arm with screw/washer assembly provided.
8. Adjust the No. 1 Closing Speed first and then No. 2 Latching Speed second, (illustration 1-c). Following  instructions at bottom of Page. See caution*
9. Attach full cover or cap over bottom shaft of closer.

STANDARD ARM INSTALLATION

CLOSER ADJUSTMENT

CAUTION!
Do not turn adjuster valves more than two (2) full turns counter-clockwise from its factory default position.*

CAUTION!
Do not turn adjuster valves more than two (2) full turns counter-clockwise from its factory default position, as the two speed valve adjusters could become dislodge from the door closer body, resulting in the loss of internal fluid and failure of the device.

NOTE: Closing Speeds (”CLOSE” and “LATCH”) are controlled by two (2) separate speed adjusting valves. (illustration 1-c)
Adjust the CLOSING speed first, then adjust the LATCHING speed.

1. “CLOSING” Speed adjustment is accomplished by full rotations of the closing speed valve adjuster.
   • Turn the speed valve screw CLOCKWISE for a slower closing speed.
   • Turn the speed valve screw COUNTER-CLOCKWISE for a faster closing speed.
2. “LATCH” Speed adjustment is accomplished by full rotations of the latching speed adjuster valve.
   • Turn the speed valve screw CLOCKWISE for a slower latching speed.
   • Turn the speed valve screw COUNTER-CLOCKWISE for a faster latching speed

INSTRUCTION FOR A LEFT HANDED DOOR TEMPLATE. Mirror template for right handed door.
Template is set for up to 180° Opening Angle.

STEP ONE:
ATTACHING PARALLEL ARM BRACKET

1. Using Dimension A in chart, mark three (3) holes underside of frame for parallel bracket. Install towards Hinge side on opposite side of door.
2. Drill 3/16” (5mm) pilot holes on frame or drill and tap for 1/4-20 machine screws.
3. Install Parallel Arm Bracket to Top Frame using screws.
4. Remove arm shoe bracket (illustration 2-a) from for earm to install rod to bracket using screw/washer assembly provided with this installation method

[STEP 2]
ACTUAL SIZE PARALLEL ARM TEMPLATE

STEP TWO
ATTACH DOOR CLOSER BODY

1. Using Dimension B in chart, mark four (4) holes on the door for door closer.
2. Drill 3/16” (5mm) pilot holes into door or drill and tap for 1/4-20 machine screws.
3. Mount closer unit on door using screws provided. SPEED ADJUSTING VALVES MUST BE POSITIONED AWAY FROM HINGE EDGE.
4. Separate the shoe/forearm from main arm, (illustration 2-a) and install main arm to top shaft on closer body, secure tightly with screw/washer assembly provided.
5. Remove shoe from forearm and install forearm to top bracket using sleeve from shoe assembly and screw/washer provided, (illustration 2-b).
6. Adjust length of adjustable forearm so that it is parallel to door frame and reconnect with main arm.
7. Adjust closing speed of door, following instructions on Page 1. See caution*
8. Attach full cover or cap over bottom shaft of closer.
