Installation

Step 1 – Check for Obstructions: Check for any obstructions that may interfere with the installation.

Step 2 – Check Vertical & Horizontal Installation Dimensions:
- Vertical Dimensions: Ensure the top of the installation space is level.
- Horizontal Dimensions: Follow instructions based on Blind Width measurements.
Note: Use appropriate fixings for the installation, ensure alignment, and measure brackets accurately.

Floor Fix: Optional for securing to masonry. Ensure fasteners suit substrate application.

For Motor Operation: Ensure correct wiring and motor operation. For gear operation, ensure smooth operation before proceeding.

Do I need a qualified electrician for motorized awnings?
Yes, for motorized awnings, it is recommended to have a qualified electrician trim and attach the plug to the lead or hardwire. Additionally, ensure proper motor programming as per instructions provided. -
What is recommended for motorized awnings to protect the motor?
A Cassette/Pelmet is recommended with motorized awnings to protect the motor from the elements. If no cassette is ordered, ensure the awning is installed where the motor can be protected from the elements as the motor warranty does not cover water damage.

INSTALLATION
PREPARING INSTALLATION

STEP 1. – CHECK FOR OBSTRUCTIONS
Check for any obstructions that may interfere in installation. -
STEP 2. – CHECK VERTICAL & HORIZONTAL INSTALLATION DIMENSIONS

VERTICAL DIMENSIONS
Check if top of installation space is level.
If H1 ≠ H2, corrective actions may need to be considered prior to installation -
HORIZONTAL DIMENSIONS

If W2 ≥ W1, W1=Blind Width (proceed to Part B)

If W2 < W1, by a value of:
0-20mm, Proceed to Part B (W1 = Blind Width) 20+, Consider corrective action to square installation space

BOX INSTALLATION
STEP 1 – INSTALL BOX TO WALL/CEILING
NOTE:
Use appropriate fixings to suit application. Ensure Box is Aligned and Level.
Ensure 2 fasteners are used per side.
OPEN BRACKET INSTALLATION
STEP 1 – INSTALL BRACKETS TO WALL/CEILING
NOTE:
- Use appropriate fixings to suit application. Ensure 2 fasteners are used per side.
- Ensure brackets are aligned and level.
- Measure brackets end to end to confirm measurement is correct.
BLIND INSTALLATION

STEP 1 – MARK &SECURE WIRE GUIDE FIXINGS AND TRIM WIRE TO SUIT****

NOTE: Cut wire to assist installation (ensure wire is not cut too short, excess can be trimmed later)
NOTE: Ensure fasteners suit substrate application Max fastener size #10, Max Dynabolt Size: M6.

STEP 2 – INSERT SPRING ONTO WIRE****

STEP 3 – ATTACH WIRE AND SPRING TO BRACKET
- OPTION 1 – HOOK TERMINAL
NOTE: Tube hardware not shown for clarity of wire installation

STEP 4 – INSERT BLIND INTO BOX
NOTE:- Insert control end first
- Ensure blind is secure

STEP 5 – INSERT WIRE THROUGH WEIGHT BAR END CAP FLOATS****

STEP 6 – INSERT CLIP INTO IDLER ADAPTER
IDLER END -
STEP 7 – FEED THROUGH MOTOR CABLE (FOR MOTOR ONLY)****

STEP 8 – RUN BLIND DOWN + CENTRE****

STEP 9 – TEST BLIND OPERATION
- For motor operation, ensure wiring is correct and motor is operating correctly. For gear operation, ensure operation is smooth.
- Once blind is operating correctly, proceed to next steps.
LOCK OFF SS SADDLES & ATTACH DIAMOND EYE PAD
CLIPs – IF ORDERED
- STEP 1 – UNLOCK SADDLES AND SLIDE TO REQUIRED POSITION (SUGGESTED 100MM NOMINAL FROM END CAP), LOCK BOTH SADDLES TO THE BOTTOM RAIL
- STEP 2 – ATTACH THE DIAMOND EYE PAD DIRECTLY BELOW SWIVEL EYE SHACKEL WITH APPROPRIATE SCREWS
TENSION GUIDELINES
- STEP 1 – SLIDE ADJUSTING SLEEVE THEN WIRE TERMINAL ONTO WIRE AND TIGHTEN UP OUT OF THE WAY
- STEP 2 – PULL WIRE STRAIGHT AND ALIGN TERMINAL FLANGE WITH M4 GRUB SCREW, CLAMP TO WIRE
- STEP 3 – TIGHTEN REMAINING GRUB SCREWS ON WIRE (TIGHTEN 3X GRUB SCREWS PER WIRE)
- STEP 4 – LOWER ADJUSTING SLEEVE INTO COLLAR TO TENSION WIRE
- STEP 5 – SCREW IN ADJUSTING SLEEVE UNTIL WIRE BEGINS TO TENSION
- STEP 6 – TO APPLY MIN REQUIRED TENSION, TIGHTEN WITH 5X TURNS USING ALLEN KEY
- STEP 7 – ONCE TENSIONED, SCREW IN GRUB SCREW TO PREVENT LOSING TENSION

Note: It is recommended that the Box Cover be fixed to ensure it is not accidentally dislodged. -

MOTORISATION
- For motorised awnings you may need a qualified electrician to trim and attach plug to the lead or hardwire.
- Program motor as per instructions: https://www.betta-blinds.com.au/installations.html
- A Cassette/Pelmet is recommended with motorised awnings to protect the motor from the elements. If no cassette has been ordered the awning will need to be installed where the motor can be protected from the elements. Motor warranty does not cover water damage.
Installing a Automate Rechargeable Battery Pack
The rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack enables Automate DCFT motor to operate wirelessly and without the constraints of traditional battery wands with disposable batteries.

Provides up to 6-12 months on a single charge (depends on shade size, fabric weight& usage)

Battery pack fully recharges in ~ 7 hours.

Battery health status reported in Automate Pulse App.
NOTE: If using a compatible external battery, please use the below steps. -
Battery must only be charged by Rollease Acmeda battery charger.

Battery charger LED status: RED = Charging GREEN = Idle
NOTE:
Battery pack will only charge between 0-45°C
Battery pack must be installed out of direct sunlight.
Recommended to install the battery in a horizontal orientation to minimize the
risk of water ingress. Ensure the battery is positioned away from direct
contact with water or exposure to adverse weather conditions during
installation.
- First decide the best place to mount the battery pack, remembering to not install the pack in direct sunlight, horizontal position is recommended if possible.
- Mark and drill 4mm holes for the battery pack clips, ideally space them 465mm apart.
- Attach clips and click battery pack in place.
- Drill a 14mm hole for motor cable. We recommend you have the motor cable come out of the side end plate, at the back or the top of the casstte depending on the fit of the awning and where the battery is postioned.
- Join motor cable and battery pack together, you are now ready to set the limits, please see instructions on setting limits.
