Thank you for choosing the Lakeland Digital Hand Mixer.
Please take a little time to read this booklet before getting started and keep
it in a safe place for future reference.
With a powerful 400W motor, 6 speeds and turbo button, this practical mixer
will comfortably handle your everyday mixing, whisking, kneading, beating and
combining tasks.
It has an LED digital display on the handle, so you can monitor and change
your speed according to your ingredients, increasing from lower speeds for
splatter-free results. It also has a timer to help you mix according to your
recipe.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Carefully read all the instructions before using the appliance and keep in a
safe place for future reference. Always follow these safety precautions when
using the appliance to avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance. This
appliance should be used only as
described in this instruction book.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. -
Make sure your electricity supply matches the voltage shown on the appliance.

Ensure all packaging materials and any promotional labels or stickers are removed from the appliance before the first use.

Unplug from the mains when not in use. To disconnect, turn the socket to “off“ and remove the plug from the mains socket.

This appliance should be used for preparation of food as described within the instructions for use that accompany it.

Always ensure that your hands are dry before removing the plug from the mains socket. Never pull the plug out of the mains socket by its lead.

To avoid injury or possible fire, do not cover the appliance when in use.

Not recommeneded to be used with a plug-in timer switch.

An extension cable may be used with care. The electrical rating of the cable should be at least as great as the appliance. Do not allow the cable to hang over the edge of the worktop or touch any hot surfaces.

WARNING: A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure the cut off plug is disposed of safely.

CAUTION: The plastic bags used to wrap this appliance or the packaging may be dangerous. To avoid risk of suffocation, keep these bags out of reach of babies and children. These bags are not toys.

Avoid contact with moving parts, to avoid the risk of injury and damage to the appliance. Do not put your hands or utensils inside the mixing bowl while using the appliance.

Always switch off and unplug the appliance before you attach or remove the beaters or dough hooks.

Replace the beaters or dough hooks if they show any signs of damage.

Never leave the appliance unattended while switched on.

Do not operate the appliance continuously for more than 5 minutes. Allow the motor to rest between each use for 20 minutes.
ASSEMBLING YOUR DIGITAL HAND MIXER AND USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Unpack the Digital Hand Mixer and remove all the packaging materials.
- Before first use, wipe the Digital Hand Mixer with a clean damp cloth.
- Wash the beaters and dough hooks in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Make sure all parts are clean and dry before assembling the product.
WARNING: Do not insert the plug into an electrical outlet and turn on the Digital Hand Mixer until you have attached the beaters or dough hooks.
BEATERS AND DOUGH HOOKS
- Make sure the beaters or dough hooks are securely in place before using the appliance.
ATTACHING THE BEATERS
- Take the beater and push into the hole, aligning the notches on the beater with the slots, push until you hear it ‘click’ into place. Click the other beater into the other hole.
ATTACHING THE DOUGH HOOKS
- One of the dough hooks has a flange and one does not. This is to make sure they are located in the correct holes. Make sure that the dough hook with the flange is in the hole indicated by the small diagram on the mixer.
- Take the dough hook and push into the hole, aligning the notches on the dough hook with the slots, push until you hear it ‘click’ into place. Click the other dough hook into the other hole.
- The Digital Hand Mixer is now ready to use.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- When you switch on the appliance for the first time there may be a slight burning smell, this is normal and will stop after a few uses.
- Plug-in and switch on the Digital Hand Mixer at the socket. The LED digital display will flash ‘0’ and ‘0:00’ in standby mode. Press the POWER button to turn the mixer on. The LED digital display will stop flashing.
- Put the ingredients needed to be processed into a mixing bowl and then put the mixing bowl on a stable surface.
- Hold the Digital Hand Mixer firmly by the handle and place it in your bowl with the ingredients.
- Press the increase speed button ‘+’ to speed setting 1.
- Use the increase ‘+’ and decrease ‘-’ speed buttons to select your desired speed. Start off on the lowest setting of 1 and then increase the speed as required. Press and hold the increase ‘+’ or decrease ‘-’ speed buttons to increase or decrease the speed rapidly.
- If you require a short fast burst of speed, press the TURBO button whilst mixing.
- TURBO can also be used at the end of mixing to clean your beaters, lift them above your mix (still keeping them in the bowl), press the TURBO button and release to remove excess mixture before you finish.
- When your mixture is ready decrease the speed back to ‘0’. You can also press the POWER button to turn off the mixer and enter into standby mode.
- The beaters or dough hooks will continue to rotate for a few seconds after being switched off, wait until they have fully stopped before handling.
- The beaters and dough hooks can only be removed when the LED display shows ‘0, 0:00 or if the mixer is switched off and unplugged’.
- Switch off and unplug the Digital Hand Mixer at the socket.
- To remove the beaters and dough hooks, hold them with one hand, press the eject button with the other and pull to release.
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the appliance before you attach or remove the beaters or dough hooks. Avoid contact with moving parts to avoid risk of injury and damage to the appliance. Do not put your hands or utensils inside the mixing bowl while using the Digital Hand Mixer.
TIMER
- As soon as you start the hand mixer the timer on the display will start counting up to show how long you have been mixing. This is useful for recipes which state how long to mix your ingredients.
- Do not operate the hand mixer continuously for more than 5 minutes, the appliance will stop running automatically and the LED digitial display will show 5:00. Press the POWER button, so that the appliance goes into standby mode. Allow the motor to rest between two continuous cycles of 5 minutes, for 20 minutes.
A GUIDE TO THE SPEED SETTINGS
The Digital Hand Mixer has six speed settings. Begin mixing your ingredients on a low setting and increase the speed slowly.

muffin mixture.
Use lower speeds for thicker mixtures such as tough dough mixtures.
Beaters or Dough Hooks| Turbo| Use for a fast burst of speed.
HINTS AND TIPS
-
To prevent splattering and flour dusting; lower the beaters or dough hooks fully into the mixture before switching the Digital Hand Mixer on. When switching it off, allow the beaters or dough hooks to stop rotating before you remove them from your mixture.

When mixing, if the appliance starts to slow or labour, decrease the speed.
If the appliance seems to be struggling to mix, switch off and unplug the appliance at the socket and reduce the amount of ingredients in the bowl. -
DO NOT use the Digital Hand Mixer with heavy ingredients as the motor may overheat.

Replace the beaters or dough hooks if they show any signs of damage.

DO NOT use the Digital Hand Mixer or more than 5 minutes continuously to prevent overheating. Allow the motor to rest between each use for 20 minutes.

Refrigerated ingredients, i.e. butter and eggs should be at room temperature before mixing begins, get your ingredients out ahead of time.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Question: Why is my Digital Hand Mixer not working?
Answer: The Digital Hand Mixer may not be plugged in or the speed has not been selected. Check the mixer is plugged in and switched on. Increase the speed with the ‘+’ button.
Question: Why are the beaters struggling to rotate?
Answer: The mixture is too thick, add more liquid. If your recipe states otherwise, your mixture cannot be mixed with the Digital Hand Mixer. You may need to soften the ingredients or chop them into smaller pieces before further mixing.
Question: Why is my mixture splattering?
Answer: The speed setting is too high. Select a lower speed and fully lower the beaters into the mixture before starting to mix.
CARE AND CLEANING
- Switch off and unplug the Digital Hand Mixer at the socket before cleaning and when not in use.
- Press the eject button and remove the beaters or dough hooks from the mixer before cleaning.
- Clean thoroughly before using for the first time and after every use.
- Check the parts for wear or damage after every few uses.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
- Never immerse the Digital Hand Mixer in water or any other liquid.
- To clean the outer surfaces, wipe with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly before storing.
- Wash the beaters and dough hooks in hot, soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly. These are also dishwasher safe. Do not immerse them in water overnight.
- Store the Digital Hand Mixer with the power cable loosely coiled. Never wrap it tightly around the Digital Hand Mixer.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
The appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug to BS1363 which is suitable for use in all homes fitted with sockets to current specifications.
CHANGING THE 3 AMP FUSE
Use a 3 amp BS1362 fuse. Only BSI or ASTA approved fuses should be used. If
you are unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to a qualified
electrician.
Note: After replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug which has a
fuse cover, the cover must be refitted to the plug; the appliance must not be
used without a fuse cover.
If lost, replacement fuse covers can be obtained from an electrical shop.
