SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED APPLIANCES
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are provided instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for grounding be added to the appliance. Servicing a double-insulated appliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and should be done only by qualified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double-insulated appliance must be identical to the parts they replace. A double-insulated appliance is marked with the words “DOUBLE INSULATION” or “DOUBLE INSULATED”. The symbol ( square within a square) may also be marked on the appliance.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

ALCI SAFETY DEVICE

This appliance is provided with a protective device that may make the appliance inoperable under some abnormal conditions. If the appliance becomes inoperable, discard the appliance or return the appliance to a service center for examination and repair.

ALCI (Appliance Leakage Current Interrupter) SAFETY DEVICE:
This device provides protection against electric shock due to ground fault currents by automatically shutting off the power. The TEST and RESET buttons on the ALCI plug are used to check if the device is functioning properly. It is recommended to check the device monthly. To do so:

  1. Press the TEST button.
  2. The RESET button should pop up. If not, do not use the product.
  3. Press the RESET button to restore power. If the TEST button is pressed and the product can still be turned on, current leakage has been detected. Do not use the product or attempt to reset the ALCI safety device.

  • All parts must be completely dry before being stored. Store the product in a clean and dry place, avoiding heat and direct sunlight.

STOP:
IF YOU MUST USE YOUR PRODUCT IN THE BATHROOM, INSTALL A GFCI* NOW! Your local electrician can help you decide which type is best for you – A portable unit that plugs into the electrical outlet or permanent unit installed by your electrician. The National Electric Code now requires GFCI’s in the bathroom, garages, and outdoor outlets of all NEW homes.

This message about

WHY DO YOU NEED A GFCI?
Electricity and water don’t mix. If your hair dryer falls in water while it’s plugged in, the electric shock can kill you…even if the switch is “OFF”.

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters
can save a life!
A regular fuse or circuit breaker won’t protect you under these circumstances. A GFCI offers you far greater protection.
A GFCI can save your life! Compared to that, the price is small! Don’t wait…install one now!
*GFCI is a sensitive device which reacts immediately to a small electric current leak by stopping the electricity flow.
