Technologies

Reading and storing the user manual
This user manual accompanies this GoSleek IR (hereafter referred to as the “hair straightener”), and contains important information on setup and handling. Before using the hair straightener, read the user manual carefully. This particularly applies to the safety instructions. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or damage to the hair straightener. The user manual is based on the standards and rules in force in the European Union. When abroad, you must also observe country-specific guidelines and laws. Store the user manual for further use. Make sure to include this user manual when passing the hair straightener on to third parties.
Explanation of symbols
The following symbols and signal words are used in this user manual, on the
hair straightener or on the packaging.
WARNING!
This signal symbol/word designates a hazard with moderate risk, which may
result in death or severe injury if not avoided.
NOTICE!
This signal word warns of possible damage to property.
- This signal symbol provides you with useful additional information on handling and use.
- Declaration of Conformity: Products labelled with this symbol meet all applicable provisions of the European Economic Area.
- The symbol indicates that the product is of CLASS II (double insulated) construction. It does not require a safety connection to electrical earth (ground).
- Do not use the hair straightener in the vicinity of bathtubs, showers, washbasins or other vessels containing water.
Safety
Proper use
The hair straightener is exclusively designed for straightening human hair
only. It is only intended for private use and not suitable for commercial
purposes. Only use the hair straightener as described in this user manual. Any
other use is considered improper and may result in damage to property or
persons. The manufacturer or vendor cannot be held liable for damages or
injury incurred through improper or incorrect use.
Safety instructions
WARNING! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
- Only connect the hair straightener if the line voltage of the socket corresponds to the data on the rating plate.
- Only connect the hair straightener to an easily accessible socket so that you can quickly disconnect it from the mains supply in the event of a problem.
- Do not use the hair straightener if it is damaged or if the mains cord or plug is defective. If the mains cord of the hair straightener is damaged, the manufacturer
- Do not open the housing; instead, have a qualified professional perform repairs. Contact the customer service team for this. Liability and warranty claims are waived in the event of repairs performed by the user, improper connection or incorrect opera-tion.
- Only parts that comply with the original device data may be used for repairs. This hair straightener contains electrical and mechanical parts which are essential for providing protection against sources of danger.
- Keep the hair straightener away from water!Do not use the hair straightener near or over water contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc. When used in a bathroom, unplug the hair straightener after use since the proximity of water presents a risk, even when the hair straightener is switched off.
- Do not immerse the hair straightener or the mains cord in water or other liquids. Do not place the hair straightener such that there is a risk of it falling into a tub or sink.
- Never reach to retrieve an electrical device.
- Always switch the hair straightener off and unplug it when you are not using it, when you intend to clean it, or in the event of a malfunction.
- Never touch the mains plug with wet or damp hands.
- For additional protection, the installation of a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA is advisable in the elec-trical circuit supplying the bathroom. Ask your installer for advice.
- Do not use an extension cord with the hair straightener.
- Never insert any objects into the housing.
- Do not pull the mains plug out of the socket by the cord; instead, always pull it out by the plug itself. Never move, pull, or carry the hair straightener by its mains cord.
- Keep the hair straightener and mains cord away from open flames and hot surfaces.
- Lay the mains cord so that it does not pose a tripping hazard.
- Do not kink the mains cord or wrap it around the hair straightener. Do not lay the.
- Never attempt to remove dust or foreign objects from inside the hair straightener using a pointed object.

The hair straightener is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the hair straightener by a person responsible for their safety. Children must not play with the hair straightener. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by unsupervised children. -
Keep children under the age of eight away from the hair straightener and mains cord.

Make sure that children do not play with the plastic wrapping. They may get caught in it when playing and suffocate.

- The hair straightener heats up during use.
- Never leave the hair straightener unattended while it is plugged in.
- Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
- Always switch the hair straightener off before putting it down, even if it is only for a moment.
- Do not touch the hot surfaces of the hair straightener. Always allow the hair straightener to cool down before storing or cleaning.

- Place the hair straightener on an easily accessible, level, dry, heat-resistant and suffi-ciently stable surface. Do not place the hair straightener on the edge of the surface.
- Ensure that the mains cord does not come into contact with hot parts.
- Never fill the hair straightener with liquid.
- Stop using the hair straightener if its plastic parts exhibit cracks or breaks or are deformed. Only replace damaged parts with corresponding original spare parts.
- Do not operate the hair straightener if it has been dropped or is damaged in any way.Have the hair straightener checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians if necessary.
Checking the hair straightener and package contents
NOTICE! RISK OF DAMAGE!
- If you are not cautious when opening the packaging with a sharp knife or other pointed object, you may quickly damage the hair straightener. Be very careful when opening it.
- Take the hair straightener out of the packaging.
- Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see Fig. A).
- Check whether the hair straightener or individual parts are damaged. If this is the case, do not use the hair straightener. Contact our customer service.
Operation
- Clean all parts of the hair straightener before first use as described in the chapter “Cleaning”.
- Before using the hair straightener for the first time, switch it on for a few minutes and set it to the highest temperature. As a result of the manufacturing process, you may notice a slight odour. This is normal and only occurs during first use. Ensure that the room is well ventilated.
Before straightening
- The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products (except special products that promote hair straightening).
- Thoroughly comb the hair so that there are no knots in it.
- Separate your hair into horizontal sections. Each section should be around the width and thickness of a heating plate 1 . Pin or clip the sections you are not working on out of the way.
Switching on/off and selecting a temperature
- Connect the mains plug to an easily accessible socket.
- Press and hold the control button 3 to switch on the hair straightener. The indicator lights on the temperature display 2 flash until the hair straightener has reached the default operating temperature (190 °C) (see Fig. B).
- To select another operating temperature, press the control button repeatedly to cycle through the temperature settings and select a desired one. There are five temperature settings: 130 °C, 150 °C, 170 °C, 190 °C and 210 °C. Once a new temperature setting is selected, the indicator lights on the display flash until the hair straightener has reached the newly selected operating temperature. Below are recommended settings. If you are unsure, start with a lower temperature and increase the temperature as necessary.

210 °C| Thick, curly, not chemically treated - To switch off the hair straightener, press and hold the control button until all indicator lights on the temperature display go out. For safety purposes, the hair straightener will automatically shut down after 1 hour (Auto Shut Off Protection) in case you forget to switch it off.
Straightening hair
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
- Ensure that the heating plates do not touch your scalp.
- Never touch the heating plates and the upper part of the hair straightener during use.
- Always pull the hair straightener through the hair. Never stay at one position for too long. You may singe your hair!
- Prepare the hair as described in the chapter “Before straightening”.
- Switch on the hair straightener and select a desired operating temperature (see chapter “Switching on/off and selecting a temperature”).
- Take a hair section and pull it taut by holding its end tightly between your index and middle finger of the hand that is NOT holding the hair straightener.
- Clamp the hair section near the root by pressing the heating plates 1 together.
- Glide the hair straightener downwards from the root to the tip through the heating plates (see Fig. C).Control the speed for better results in a single glide. Below are recommendations.

Thick| Around 2–3 cm per second - Proceed in the same way for every hair section. While sectioning the hair, you can let the hair straightener rest on the heat-resistant mat 5 included.
- When done, press and hold the control button 3 to switch the hair straightener off.
- Unplug the hair straightener and allow it to cool down completely on the heat-resistant mat.
Cleaning
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
- Always unplug and let the hair straightener completely cool down before cleaning.
NOTICE! RISK OF DAMAGE!
- Never immerse the hair straightener in water or other liquids. Make sure that no water or other liquids penetrate the housing.
- Do not use any aggressive cleaners, brushes with metal or nylon bristles, or sharp or metallic cleaning utensils such as knives, hard scrapers and the like. Wipe the hair straightener with a damp cloth. Allow it to dry completely.
Storage
- All parts must be completely dry before being stored.
- Do not wind the mains cord round the hair straightener.
- Keep the hair straightener away from children.
- Use the pouch 5 to store the hair straightener or hang it up on the hanging loop 4 .
Troubleshooting
Some problems may be caused by minor faults that you can fix yourself. To do so, follow the instructions in the following table. If it is still not possible to resolve the problem, contact customer service. Do not repair the hair straightener yourself.

Disposal
Disposing of the packaging
Sort the packaging before you dispose of it. Dispose of paperboard and
cardboard with the recycled paper service and wrappings with the appropriate
collection service.
Disposing of the hair straightener

Old appliances may not be disposed of in the household waste!
Should the hair straightener no longer be capable of being used at some point
in time, dispose of it in accordance with the regulations in force in your
city or county. This ensures that old appliances are recycled in a
professional manner and also rules out negative consequences for the
environment. For this reason, electrical equipment is marked with the symbol
shown here.

This product is covered by a 2-year warranty according to European regulations and law.
