Protective measures

Basic precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances including the following:

  • Read all the instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • Close supervision is required when appliances are used by or in the vicinity of children.
  • To protect against electric shocks, do not immerse the cord, plug, or any parts of the oven in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not operate an appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after it has malfunctioned or has been damaged in some way. Return appliances to the nearest Authorised Service
  • The use of non-recommended accessory attachments may cause hazards or injury.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven or microwave oven.
  • Keep at least four inches free on all sides of the oven to allow for adequate air circulatiion when the oven is in operation.
  • Unplug from socket when not in use and before cleaning. Alow the oven to cool before adding or removing parts and before cleaning.
  • To disconnect, turn the control to OFF and remove the plug. Always hold the plug and never pull the cord.
  • Extreme caution must be exercised when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Do not cover any part of the oven with metal foil.
  • Do not clean with metal scouring pads as pieces can break off the pad and come into contact with electrical parts, creating a risk of electric shock.
  • Never leave the appliances unattended while broiling or toasting.
  • Oversized foods or metal utensils must not be inserted inside a toaster oven as they may create a fire or present an electric shock risk.
  • A fire may occur if the oven is covered or touching inflammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, etc., when in operation. Do not store any items on the oven during operation
  • Extreme caution must be exercised when using containers made from anything other than metal or glass.
  • Do not place any of the following materials in the oven: cardboard, plastic, paper, or similar materials.
  • Do not store any materials, other than recommended accessories, inside this oven when it is hot.
  • Always wear protective, insulated oven gloves when inserting or removing items from the hot oven.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not use the appliance for purposes which do not correspond to its intended use;
  • The appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system;
  • This appliance may be used by children aged 8 and over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities ora lack of experience or knowledge, provided that they have received supervision or instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance and that they understand the potential risks involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Children must not clean and maintain the appliance unless they are over the age of 8 and are supervised.
  • The appliance and its cable must be kept out of reach of children under the age of 8.

WARNING The temperature of the accessible surface may be high when the appliance is operating.

Before using your oven/toaster
Before using your toaster or oven for the first time, make sure that you:

  • Read all the instruction included in the manual.

  • Make sure that the oven is unplugged and the time control is in the “OFF” position.

  • Wash the accessories in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher.

  • .Dry all accessories thoroughly and re-assemble in the Oven. Plug the oven into the socket and you are ready to use your new toaster oven.

  • After reassembling your oven, we recommend that you run it at the highest temperature on the toast function for approximately 15 minutes to eliminate any packing residue that may remain after shipping. This will also remove any traces of odour which were initially present.
    NOTE Initial start-up operation may produce a mild odour and a small amount of smo ke. This is normal and harmless. It is due to the burning of the protective substance applied to the heating elements in the factory.

  • If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales department or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid any danger.

  • Reference should be made to the following paragraph in the instructions for details on how to clean surface which come into contact with food.

  • This appliance is solely intended for use in a private domestic setting, and not in a professional environment. Furthermore, this appliance is not intended for use in:

    • Kitchen areas reserved for staff in stores, offices and other professional environments.
    • Farms.
    • Use by guests in hotels, motels and other residential environments.
    • Bed-and-breakfast type environments.

Using your electric oven

Temperature control: select the required cooking temperature from 90°C to 2 0°C . Function control: this oven can be set to different positions for a variety of cooking requirements:

Time control:

  • Set the arrow on the “Timer” to the number which indicates the cooking time (minutes) according to the dishes that you wish to cook.
  • Set the Timer” by turning it clockwise. The oven will turn off automaticaly at the end of the selected time anda bell will ring.
    When setting the timer to less than 5 minutes, turn it to more than 6 minutes. And then return to the selected time.

The oven can be turned off manually during cooking by turning the “Timer” anti-clockwise to the «0» position.

Caution
Positioning the oven too close to a wall will cause the wall will be burned or stained. Make sure that curtains, etc. are not in contact with the body. Do not place any objects between the bottom of the body and the surface on which it has been placed as they could be burned.

  • Always use the tray handle when inserting or removing the tray. Severe burns may be caused if these parts are touched.
  • Always take hold of the plug itself when unplugging the cord. Never pull on the cord. Doing so could break the wires inside the cord.
  • Do not allow the power cord to become wet or handle the unit with wet hands. Always unplug the cord after use or whenever the unit is to be left unattended. A malfunction while the plug is connected to the mains could cause a fire.
  • Do not position the unit close to a gas burner or any other source of high temperature and do not direct an electric fan, etc., on the unit during USE.
  • Do not place anything on the oven while it is in used as the heat could cause deformation, cracking, etc.
  • Bottled or tinned food must not be heated directly to prevent scalding due to broken bottles or tins.
  • Be careful! Take care not to burn yourself during or immediately after use. The metal parts and glass window of the door become extremely hot during use. Be careful not to touch them when opening and closing the door.
  • Do not apply water to the glass window when hot. It may cause the glass to break.

Useful information

AC power must be obtained from a properly wired source. Insert the plug fully into the socket. It could overheat if this is not the case. Do not use an electric light socket. Never connect multiple plugs to the same socket.

  • When cooking dishes such as roast chicken which can cause oil splashing, 2 sheets of aluminium foil should be placed on a tray to minimise splashing. Place one on a tray. Then oil will drip into a gap between the foil sheets.VALBERG-MO-31-K-266C-Electric-oven-fig-15

Cleaning

  • It is important to clean the appliance after each use to prevent an accumulation of grease and avoid unpleasant Odours.
  • Allow the appliance to cool and unplug from the mains before cleaning.
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or wash it under running water.
  • Removable wire rack and baking tray can be washed in the same way as normal kitchenware.
  • Clean the outside of appliance with a damp sponge.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp utensils to clean the oven, as scratching may weaken it and cause it to shatter.
  • Allow all parts and surfaces to dry thoroughly before plugging in and using the oven.
