Getting started

  • Open the battery compartment cover (7) and insert 2 AAA batteries according to the correct polarity. Close the cover.
  • Press and hold (5) for 3 seconds to turn the device on/off.

Testing

Put the sensor (1) up to a known AC power source to test the device. If it emits a sound and the LED indicator (3) flashes, the device can be used.

Usage

Put the sensor (1) up to a cable, a wire or a socket. The device will beep fast and the LCD display (4) will be red if the signal is strong. This means that the device has detected a live line. The device will beep slow and the LCD display (4) will be green if the signal is weak. This means that the device has detected a neutral or weak line.
A low-pitched sound will be emitted and the LED indicator (3) will blink when it detects AC voltage in the 12–48V range. A high-pitched sound will be emitted and the LED indicator (3) will light up when it detects AC voltage in the 48–1000V range.

Random beeps and flashes may occur due to detection of static charges.

Sensitivity setting

Press (6) to switch between the low and high sensitivity modes (the default mode is low sensitivity).

Flashlight

Press and hold (6) for 3 seconds to turn the flashlight (2) on/off.

If the light is dim, please replace the batteries.

Non-contact phase sequence detection

Press (6) until the P symbol will appear on the display.
The A symbol will appear. Put the sensor (1) up to the first phase line and wait until the device will beep and LED indicator (3) will blink.
The B symbol will appear. Put the sensor (1) up to the second phase line and wait until the device will beep and LED indicator (3) will blink.
The C symbol will appear. Put the sensor (1) up to the third phase line and wait until the device will beep long and LED indicator (3) will blink. The detection results will appear on the LCD display (4). The symbol indicates counterclockwise phase rotation (inverse). The symbol indicates clockwise phase rotation (direct).

Low battery indicator

When the voltage is below 2.3V, the device will display low battery icon. Immediately replace the batteries after it happens.

Care and maintenance

Always test the device prior to using it. Do not touch any bare conductor with your hand or skin. Do not use the device if it is damaged or does not operate properly. Use extreme caution when voltages exceeding the true RMS value of 30V AC. Such voltages may result in electric shock. The measured voltage must not exceed the nominal value specified in the technical data sheet. Do not use the device in potentially explosive rooms. Do not use the device in aggressive atmosphere. Do not open the device. Replace the battery as soon as the low battery indicator lights up. Follow local and national safety regulations when working in hazardous locations. Protect the device from sudden impact and excessive mechanical force. Never attempt to operate a damaged device or a device with damaged electrical parts! Only use accessories and spare parts for this device that comply with the technical specifications. If a part of the device or battery is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Keep away from children.

Battery safety instructions

Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use. Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time; taking care not to mix old and new ones, or batteries of different types. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation. Make sure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity (+ and –). Remove batteries from equipment that is not to be used for an extended period of time. Remove used batteries promptly. Never short-circuit batteries as this may lead to high temperatures, leakage, or explosion. Never heat batteries in order to revive them. Do not disassemble batteries. Remember to switch off devices after use. Keep batteries out of the reach of children, to avoid risk of ingestion, suffocation, or poisoning. Utilize used batteries as prescribed by your country’s laws.
