Product Usage Instructions

Install Batteries:

Open the battery compartment cover and insert 3 batteries according to the correct polarity. Close the cover.

Getting Started:

Press the power button (4) and hold it for 3 seconds to turn the device on/off. Press the power button (4) to enable/disable the auto-off option. When enabled, the device will automatically turn off in 60 minutes.

Optical Power Meter Function:

  1. Connect fiber cable to optic connector (1).
  2. Turn on the external optical light source.
  3. Select wavelength value using a button (8).
  4. Select measurement units using the dBm/W button (3).
  5. Press the REF button (6) to display the reference value.
  6. Press the REF button (6) to measure optical power.
  7. Hold the REF button (6) to save as a reference value.

Optical Light Source Function:

  1. Select wavelength value (1310nm).
  2. Select frequency using the Frequency/OSL button (5).

Dual Function:

  1. Insert testing fiber cable into fiber optic connectors (1).
  2. Select the wavelength value using the button (8).
  3. Select frequency using the Frequency/OSL button (5).
  4. Press REF button (6) to measure optical power.

FAQ

  • Q: How do I switch between the Optical Power Meter and Optical Light Source functions?

The kit includes :  an optical multimeter, carry bag, user manual, and warranty.

Install batteries

Open the battery compartment cover and insert 3 batteries according to the correct polarity. Close the cover.

Getting started

  • Press the power button (4) and hold it for 3 seconds to turn the device on/off.
  • Press the power button (4) to enable/disable the auto-off option, and then observe the automatic tr of in e miner. When the auto-of option is enabled, the device will automatically turn off in 60 minutes.
  • Press the OP/SL button (7) to switch between the optical power meter function and the optical light source function. The optical power meter function is set by default.

Optical power meter function

This function is intended to test optical power.

  1. Connect one end of the fiber cable to the optic connector (1); plug the other cable end into a corresponding connector of an optical light source (external device).
  2. Turn on the external optical light source (external device).
  3. Press the A button (8) to select a wavelength value (850m, 1300m, 1310m, 1490m, 1550m, or 1625nm).
  4. The wavelength value of the optical multimeter and the wavelength value of the light source must be the same.
  5. Press the dBm/W button (3) to select the units of measurement to measure the absolute optical power or relative optical power. Press the REF button (6) to display the last saved reference value (the default value is OdB).
  6. Press the REF button (6) to measure the optical power. The result will be displayed on the screen.
  7. Press and hold the REF button (6) to save the value as a reference value.

Optical light source function

You can use this optical multimeter as an optical light source to test fiber optic cables with the use of another optical power meter (external device).

  1. Insert one end of the fiber cable to the fiber optic connector (1) of this optical multimeter.
  2. Connect the other cable to a corresponding connector of another optical power meter (external device).
  3. Press the OP/SL button (7) to enter the optical light source function.
  4. Press the A button (8) to select a wavelength value (850 nm, 1300m, 1310m, 1490m, 1550m, or 1625m). The default wavelength value for the light source function is 1310m. The wavelength value of the optical multimeter and the wavelength value of the light source must be the same.
  5. 6. Press the Frequency/OSL button (5) to select the frequency.
  6. Proceed as described in the instructions of the optical power meter (external device).

Dual function: optical power meter and optical light source

  1. Insert both ends of the testing fiber cable into the fiber optic connectors (1) of this optical multimeter.
  2. Press the A button (8) to select a wavelength value (850m, 1300mm, 1310m, 1490m, 1550mm, or 1625nm).
  3. Press the Frequency/OSL button (5) to select the frequency.
  4. Press the REF button (6) to measure the optical power. The result will be displayed on the screen.

Battery safety instructions

Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use. Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time; taking care not to mix old and new ones or batteries of different types. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation. Make sure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity (+ and -).
