SAFETY CAUTIONS

Carefully read all the instructions before using the appliance and keep in a safe place for future reference. Always follow these safety cautions when using the appliance to avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance. This appliance should be used only as described in this instruction book.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
  • Make sure your electricity supply matches the voltage shown on the appliance.
  • Ensure all packaging materials and any promotional labels or stickers are removed from the appliance before the first use.
  • Always inspect the appliance before use for noticeable signs of damage. Do not use if damaged or has been dropped. In the event of damage, or if the appliance develops a fault contact the Lakeland customer care team on 015394 88100.
  • Do not use this appliance if the lead is damaged. If the lead is damaged it must be replaced with a special lead. Contact the Lakeland customer care team on 015394 88100.
  • Always use the appliance on a dry, level, heat resistant surface.
  • Unplug from the mains when not in use and before cleaning. To disconnect, turn the socket to “off“ and remove the plug from the mains socket.
  • Do not use any accessories or attachments with this appliance other than those recommended by Lakeland.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock or personal injury, do not immerse cord, plug or lid in water or other liquids.
  • Do not leave the lead hanging over the edge of a kitchen table or worktop. Avoid contact between the lead and hot surfaces.
  • For indoor use only.
  • For domestic use only.
  • This appliance should be used for preparation of food as described within the instructions for use that accompany it.
  • Always ensure that your hands are dry before removing the plug from the mains socket. Never pull the plug out of the mains socket by its lead.
  • To avoid injury or possible fire, do not cover the appliance when in use.
  • Do not connect this appliance to an external timer or remote control system.
  • An extension cable may be used with care. The electrical rating of the cable should be at least as great as the appliance. Do not allow the cable to hang over the edge of the worktop or touch any hot surfaces.
  • This appliance complies with the basic requirements of Directives 2014/30/EU (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage Directive).
  • WARNING: A cut off plug inserted into a 13amp socket is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure the cut off plug is disposed of safely.
  • CAUTION: The plastic bags used to wrap this appliance or the packaging may be dangerous. To avoid risk of suffocation, keep these bags out of reach of babies and children. These bags are not toys.
  • Do not place the appliance on or near a gas or electric oven, or any hot surfaces.
  • Do not lift or move the appliance while it is switched on, or leave the blender unattended.
  • Always turn off and unplug the blender from the socket if it is left unattended and before assembling, taking apart or cleaning.
  • Do not operate the blender empty. Always ensure the blender is filled with a minimum of 100ml of liquid or food to the 100ml line.
  • Do not blend more than the maximum capacity – 600ml of liquid and food to the 600ml line.
  • Do not use the blender for hot liquids and foods , excess pressure may build up inside the blender and this could cause the lid to come off and the contents to splash out. Allow foods and liquids to cool to room temperature before blending.
  • Do not use the blender for very hard food products, such as bones, shelled nuts, frozen meats etc. This will damage the blade and motor.
  • This blender has a safety function and can only be switched on if the glass jug or easy-go bottle is locked into place on the main unit correctly.
  • CAUTION: The blades are very sharp. Care must be taken when handling the blades, emptying the glass blending jug and during cleaning.
  • WARNING: To prevent injury, keep fingers, hair, clothing and utensils well away from the blender during use.
  • DO NOT use the glass blending jug without the lid and measuring cup in place.
  • Never place your hands or any utensils inside the blender during use. If you need to scrape the inside of the glass blending just, switch off and unplug the blender.
  • Use the blender in short bursts and DO NOT use continuously for more than 40 seconds at a time, allow the motor to cool down between cycles for 3 minutes.
  • DO NOT put the blender or easy-go bottle into the microwave.

USING THE PERSONAL BLENDER FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Unpack the Personal Blender, remove all the packaging materials.
  • Before first use, wipe the main unit with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Wash the rest of the parts in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Make sure all parts are clean and dry before assembling the product.

ASSEMBLING THE GLASS BLENDING JUG

  1. The silicone ring must be fitted over the blade assembly.

  2. The blade sits inside the blade holder.
    CAUTION: The blades are very sharp. Care must be taken when handling the blades.

  3. This then screws to the right into the base of the glass blending jug.

  4. Sit the glass blending jug onto the main unit. Turn it to the left so it locks onto the main unit. The blender can only be switched on if it is locked correctly onto the main unit.

  5. Put the lid on top of the glass blending jug and push it down. Always ensure the lid is firmly in place before operating with the measuring cup in the lid.

REMOVING THE GLASS BLENDING JUG FROM THE BLENDER

  1. When you have finished blending, switch off and unplug at the socket.
  2. Turn the glass blending jug to the right and lift off the main unit.
  3. Remove the lid and pour out your ingredients.
  4. Make sure the glass blending jug is empty before you unscrew the blade holder.
  5. Carefully unscrew the blade holder to the left from the glass blending jug.

ASSEMBLING THE EASY-GO BOTTLE FOR USE WITH THE BLENDER

  1. The silicone ring must be fitted over the blade assembly.

  2. The blade sits inside the blade holder.

  3. CAUTION: The blades are very sharp. Care must be taken when handling the blades.

  4. This then screws to the left into the easy-go bottle.

  5. Sit the blade holder with the easy-go bottle attached onto the main unit. Turn it to the left so it locks onto the main unit.

  6. The blender can only be switched on if it is locked correctly onto the main unit.

REMOVING THE EASY-GO BOTTLE FROM THE BLENDER

  1. When you have finished blending, switch off and unplug at the socket.

  2. Turn the easy-go bottle to the right.

  3. Turn the easy-go bottle the correct way up and unscrew the blade holder to the right.

  4. Place the bottle lid onto the easy-go bottle and you can take it with you on the go to the left.

BLENDER SPEED SETTINGS

  1. The blender has on ON/OFF button and a PULSE button.
  2. Use the ON/OFF button for blending most ingredients.
  3. Use the PULSE button for a short burst of high power for quick blending. The pulse function can be used to break apart large pieces of food or to control the texture of food when chopping.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

  • When using the Personal Blender for the first time you may notice a slight burning smell. This is normal for a new heating element and will disappear after a few uses.
  • Place the personal blender on a dry, level surface.
  • Plug in and switch on at the socket. Add your liquid or food to the glass blending jug.
  • When the blade holder is correctly placed on the main unit, the power light illuminates.
  • DO NOT use the blender for hot liquids and excess foods, pressure may build up inside the blender and this could cause the lid come off and the contents to splash out. Allow hot food and liquids to cool to room temperature before blending.
  • DO NOT use the blender without any food or liquid inside. Always ensure the blender is filled with a minimum of 100ml of liquid or food to the 100ml line. The maximum amount of food is to the 600ml line and the maximum amount of liquid is 600ml.
  • Place the lid firmly on the glass blending jug. Insert measuring cup firmly into the lid opening.
  • When the blade holder is correctly in placed on the main unit, push the ON/OFF button or hold the PULSE button and the switch indicator light illuminates.
  • Push the ON/OFF button to start blending.
  • Hold the PULSE button until the mixture has reached the desired consistency.
  • Release the PULSE button or press the ON/OFF button to stop blending.
  • Use the blender in short bursts and DO NOT operate continuously for more than 40 seconds.
  • Never reach into the glass blending jug with utensils when the blender is running.
  • The removable 30ml measuring cup in the lid makes it easy for additional ingredients to be added whilst you blend.

HINTS AND TIPS

  • Cut ingredients into small even 2cm sized pieces do not try to blend large chunks.
  • Add liquid ingredients to the glass blending jug first, followed by solid or dry ingredients. This will ensure a more consistent blend.
  • When mixing solid ingredients, feed small portions into the glass blending jug gradually rather than adding a large quantity at one time.
  • Use the pulse mode when mixing solid or highly viscous ingredients to avoid the blade becoming stagnant.
  • For preparing small amounts of ingredients use pulse mode.
  • DO NOT over fill the glass blending jug. This will block the blades. Turn off and unplug the appliance, take out some of the food or liquid before switching back on.
  • DO NOT try and blend frozen ingredients that have formed a solid mass. Allow to thaw slightly and break up into smaller pieces before using.
  • DO NOT use the blender to mash potatoes or mix heavy dough.
  • If making breadcrumbs or processing herbs make sure the glass blending jug and blade assembly are completely dry.
  • Use a spatula to redistribute ingredients in the glass blending jug. NEVER use metal utensils as these may damage the easy-go bottle or blade.
  • DO NOT over-process – most foods will blend in just a few seconds.
  • DO NO T use the blender for very hard food products, such as ice cubes, bones, shelled nuts, frozen meats etc., as this could damage the blade and cause the motor to seize.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: Why will the blender not switch on?
Answer: Check the blender is switched on at the socket. The glass blending jug may not be locked into the correct position.

Question: Why do the blades appear not to be turning?
Answer: The blades may be jammed or the mixture is too thick to process. Switch off the blender and unplug. Carefully remove the ingredients blocking the blade. You may need to blend in smaller batches.

Question: Why is my mixture not blending evenly?
Answer: The ingredients you are processing may be too big or you are trying to process too large a quantity of ingredients at the same time. Ensure the ingredients are cut into smaller pieces before blending.

Question: Why is food sticking to the side of the blender?
Answer: The mixture may be too thick. Switch off the blender and unplug. Using a plastic spatula carefully scrape the food from the wall of the glass blending jug. More liquid may be required or you may need to PULSE in short bursts.

CARE AND CLEANING

  • Switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Clean thoroughly before using for the first time and after every use.
  • Check the parts for wear or damage after every few uses.
  • DO NOT use abrasive cleaners, or steel wool.
  • Always use plastic, wooden or silicone spatulas.
  • Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  • To the main unit, wipe with a clean-damp cloth and dry thoroughly before storing.
  • The removable parts can be washed in hot soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly before storing.
  • DO NOT wash any parts in the dishwasher.
  • You can half fill the glass blending jug with warm soapy water. Fit the glass blending jug back on the main unit and with the lid and measuring cup in place let the blender run by pressing the PULSE button several times until the glass blending jug is clean. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • CAUTION: The blades inside the glass blending jug are very sharp. Take care when cleaning.
  • Store the blender with the power cable loosely coiled. Never wrap it tightly around the blender.
  • Keep the glass blending jug empty when not in use, do not store items in it.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

The appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug to BS1363 which is suitable for use in all homes fitted with sockets to current specifications.

CHANGING THE 3 AMP FUSE

Use a 3 amp BS1362 fuse. Only BSI or ASTA approved fuses should be used. If you are unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to a qualified electrician.

Note: After replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug which has a fuse cover, the cover must be refitted to the plug; the appliance must not be used without a fuse cover. If lost, replacement fuse covers can be obtained from an electrical shop. This appliance complies with the following EU Directives: 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage Directive) and 2014/30/EU (EMC Directive).
