INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before putting your appliance into service
- Remove all inner and outer packaging components.
- Check that none of the following parts are missing:
NO. | Contents | BC-230(E) |
---|---|---|
1 | Main appliance | 1 unit |
3 | Operation manual | 1 copy |
- Before connecting your appliance to a power supply, allow it to stand upright for about 2 hours. This reduces the risk of malfunction of the refrigeration system due to handling during transport.
- Clean the inner surfaces of the unit with a soft cloth and warm water.
- Place your unit on a floor strong enough to support the weight of the fully filled unit.
- Make sure the unit is level by adjusting the front feet underneath the unit. Make sure that the appliance rests on its feet in a stable manner.
- Install the appliance away from direct sunlight and heat sources (radiator, hot plate, etc.). Direct sunlight can damage the unit’s coating and heat can increase its power consumption. If the ambient temperature is extremely cold or hot, this may prevent the unit from operating properly.
- The unit is not designed to be installed in a basement or appliance.
- Caution: Make sure that the unit is kept away from any substance that may cause combustion.
- Check that the water tank is in place before connecting the unit.
POWER FAILURE
If there is a power failure, do not open the appliance door. Frozen food should not be affected if the power failure lasts for less than 15 hours. Do not refreeze frozen foods that have thawed completely. The food may be dangerous to eat.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning your appliance
- Unplug your appliance and remove the food.
- Clean the inner surfaces with warm water and a mild detergent.
- Remove the water tank at the bottom of the unit, then wash it.
MOVING YOUR APPLIANCE
- Remove food and disconnect the appliance.
- Tape all loose parts inside your appliance.
- To avoid damage, turn the feet to adjust their height to the minimum.

ADJUSTING THE TEMPERATURES AND FUNCTIONS
Your appliance has one control for regulating the temperature. The temperature
control is located at the top of the appliance.
The first time you put your appliance into operation, set the thermostat
between 3 and 4 and let it run empty for 4 hours before storing food for it to
cool sufficiently.
The temperature control ranges from position “1” (the warmest) to position “7”
(the coldest). Adjust the temperature control to the setting that best suits
your needs. The setting between 3 and 4 should be appropriate for home or
office refrigerator use.
To turn the appliance off, turn the temperature control to “0”.
Appliance thermostat has 7 settings. The appliance assures that the
temperature is maintained as long as it is in operation and used in normal
conditions of use. The temperature inside the appliance can be influenced by
many factors, including ambient temperature, sun exposure, the frequency with
which the door is opened, and amount of food stored. Slight changes in
temperature are normal.
- Settings 1-2: fridge compartment average temperature of 8 to 11 °C, freezer compartment average temperature <=-15 °C
- Settings 3-4: fridge compartment average temperature of 5 to 9°C, freezer compartment average temperature <=-18°C
- Settings 5-7: fridge compartment average temperature <=4°C, freezer compartment average temperature <=-20 °C
NOTE:
- Turning the temperature control to the “0” position stops the cooling cycle but does not shut off the power to the appliance.
- If the unit is unplugged, loses power or turned off, wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the appliance will not start.
- If you choose to change the thermostat setting, adjust the thermostat control by one setting at a time. Allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize between adjustments.
The combination of drawers, baskets and shelves that result in the most efficient use of energy for the appliance is the default configuration after you open the package.
FOOD CONSERVATION
Carefully wrap fresh foods to ensure that they keep their flavour, colour,
moisture and freshness. This also prevents the taste of some foods
contaminating the taste of others. Only vegetables, fruit and salad vegetables
can be stored in the vegetable compartment without being packed. Let hot
dishes and drinks cool down outside the appliance. Remove the cardboard packs
from around yoghurt pots. Check the consume-by dates on the products you have
bought.
Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the refrigerator, so that it
is not in contact with and cannot drip onto other food.
ARRANGING FOOD IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR
The temperature inside your refrigerator is not uniform. Some areas are colder
than others, and you must store your food in the appropriate areas according
to their type to ensure that they can be kept safely.
Leave a space between food items to allow the air to circulate freely and
prevent different products contaminating each other.
Do not put packages and food in contact with the wall at the back of the
appliance; this is a particularly cold and damp area of the appliance and
water droplets and frost condense there as part of your refrigerator’s normal
operation.
The coldest area, at the bottom of the fridge, is designed for delicate,
sensitive and highly perishable food such as meat, poultry, fish, cooked
meats, prepared dishes, ready-made salads, egg or cream based dishes and
pastries, fresh pasta, pastry, pizza/quiches, fresh produce and raw milk
cheese, ready-to-use vegetables sold in plastic bags and, more generally, any
fresh product whose consume-by date is linked to its storage at a temperature
of +4°C or below.
If the food cannot be stored in a suitable area and at a proper temperature,
it might perish.
The following symbol shows the coolest zone in the refrigerator. This zone is
between the fruit and vegetable glass shelf and the symbol, or the shelf
located at the same height. To guarantee temperatures in this zone, do not
modify the positioning of the shelves.
Temperature indicator installation To help you set your refrigerator, it
should be equipped with a temperature indicator which will help to control the
average temperature in the coolest zone.
CAUTION: this indicator is set to work with this refrigerator. Do not use
it in another refrigerator or for another purpose.
Temperature check in the coolest zone
This indicator allows you to check that the temperature in the coolest zone is
correct. The temperature inside the refrigerator differs according to several
factors such as the ambient temperature, the quantity of food loaded in the
refrigerator and the frequency with which the door is opened. Take these
factors into consideration when setting the temperature of the appliance.
When the indicator reads OK, it means that your thermostat is set correctly
and that the indoor temperature is correct. If there is no colour on the
indicator, this means that the temperature is too high. In this case, increase
the setting of the thermostat and wait for a while before performing another
visual check of the indicator. After loading or opening the door, the
indicator may show no colour for a while.
PREPARING FOOD FOR FREEZING
Your appliance has a three-star frozen compartment, which is not suitable for
deep freezing for long periods of time. Do not store fresh or frozen food in
this compartment, as it might perish after an extended period of storage.
- Two-star frozen-food compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making ice-cream and making ice cubes.
- One-, two- and three-star compartments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh food.
Freezing does not sterilize. It is therefore important to observe some simple
hygiene rules. When preparing your food for freezing, wash your hands before
touching the food and clean the kitchen tools you have just used before using
them again.
Pack the food hermetically so that they do not lose their flavour or dry up.
Use plastic bags, polyethylene film, aluminium foil or special freezer
containers for this. If you are using plastic bags, compress them to eliminate
the air before sealing them hermetically.
To avoid food waste, regularly check the status of food in this compartment.
