Sync the Smart IR Remote to your mobile device
Before you begin, keep in mind:
- You must connect the IR remote control to a Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz network. If your router is a dual-band router, make sure that you select the 2.4 GHz band.
- Your mobile device must be connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi as the IR re-mote control.
- To sync the IR remote control, you will need to connect it to a power outlet* lo-cated as close as possible to your Wi-Fi router, even though this may not be where the IR remote control will be used later. That way, you can ensure that connection will occur quickly and correctly.
Note: To connect the Smart IR Remote to a power outlet you will need a USB charger not supplied.
- Download and install the Smart Life app or the Tuya app, available on the iTunes Store and Google Play.
- Once the installation is complete, open the app and create an account using your e-mail address.
- Select “Create home” and configure your home.
- Log into the “My Home” section and select Add Device
- Choose the “Others” and “Infrared universal remote” device type.
- Connect the IR remote control to a power source located as close as possible to your Wi-Fi router and turn it on. Keep the ON button pressed for 5 seconds to activate the linking mode.
- There are two linking modes: EZ Mode (default mode) and AP Mode. In the EZ Mode the LED blinks rapidly (twice every second) and in the AP mode the LED blinks slowly (once every 2 seconds). You can switch from one mode to the other by pressing and holding the ON button for a few seconds.
**OPTION A: EZ Mode
**
- A1. The LED indicator will blink rapidly. If the LED indicator doesn’t blink, press and hold the ON button for a few seconds until the LED indicator starts to blink.
- A2. Press the red button on the app.
- A3. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to use and enter the password. Make sure that your mobile device is connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- A4. Once the IR remote control has been added, give it a name* (for example, “IR remote control 1”). You may assign a name to each IR device connect-ed to the IR remote control in order to control them separately (for example “Jack’s TV”).
Note: Keep in mind that the name that you assign to the IR remote control and the IR devices connected to it are the names you will use to control them through Google Assistant, Google Home, and Alexa.
OPTION B: AP Mode

That means that the IR remote control is in EZ linking mode. Press and hold the on button until the LED starts to blink slowly, in order to change to AP mode.
- B2. Select AP Mode.
- B3. Press the red button on the app.
- B4. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to use and enter the password.
- B5. Press the red button and select “SmartLife_XXXX”.
- B6. Go back to the app.
- B7. Once the IR remote control has been added, give it a name* (for example, “IR remote control 1”). You may assign a name to each IR device connected to the IR remote control in order to control them separately (for example “Jack’s TV”).
