LUTRON Q-POE-8 PoE Switch Instruction
Important Notes
- For installation by a qualified electrician in accordance with all local electrical codes.
- Install the PoE switch where the terminal block / wires are not accessible to users in the space.
- The power wiring must be 0.2 mm2 to 1.0 mm2 (24 AWG to 18 AWG) and rated for at least 75 ˚C.
- This equipment is intended for indoor use only; in a 32 °F to 104 °F (0 °C to 40 °C) setting with a relative humidity less than 90%, non‑condensing.

For each system, ensure that you have:

Installation

WARNING — Shock Hazard. May result in serious injury or death. Turn off power at the circuit breaker before installing the unit.

Attach the two mounting brackets to the PoE switch using the (8) M3 x 4 mm machine screws provided. Orient the left bracket as shown using the holes in the bracket marked with an “L” and orient the right bracket as shown using the holes in the bracket marked with an “R”. Torque all screws to 5 in‑lbs (0.56 N•m).

Mount the assembled PoE switch in the Lutron panel using (4) 8‑32 x 0.25 in machine screws provided. Torque to 17 in‑lbs (1.92 N•m).

Assemble the power cable using the red and black wires that are provided along with the 6‑pin power connector to plug into the
Q‑ POE‑8. The QSPS‑DH‑1‑75‑H is equipped with screw terminals for the wiring connections. -
Power the unit from a 24 V- power supply, Lutron model QSPS‑DH‑1‑75‑H.

Connect the communication wiring from the ethernet ports on the front panel of the switch to the PoE device.
Notes
- Use Cat5e minimum cable for all connections between hubs and a Athena Clear Connect Gateway‑Type X.
- The wiring between hubs and gateways is considered PELV / NEC® Class 2; do not run in the same conduit as line (mains) voltage wiring.
- Processors cannot be daisy‑chained. Each must be connected to the internal Ethernet switch. The second Ethernet connection is used for service or diagnostics only.
- All system Ethernet wiring must comply with IEEE 802.3 standards.
- Wiring distance for any single “wire segment” is 328 ft (100 m) max; this applies for any Ethernet connections between hubs or to a Athena Clear Connect Gateway‑Type X. Use Lutron’s Q‑POE‑PNL or unmanaged Ethernet switches for longer distances.
