Make sure you enter your home with your family in a well-lit area. Set your front porch lights to turn on at nightfall using the smart switch to make sure your house is not pitch-black when you get home. To better meet your daily routines, plan light on/off timings, and turn on/off personalized lighting scenarios with the push of a button. Even when the seasons change and the time changes, program your outdoor lights to turn on every evening when the sun sets. By setting your lights to turn off instantaneously the moment you leave your house using the geofencing feature, you can never worry about forgetting to turn them off.

REMOVE EXISTING SWITCH FROM WALL
- Remove the wallplate from switch.
- Remove the switch and pull it away from the wall.
-
REMOVE SIDE SECTIONS (IF NECESSARY)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Removing side sections reduces the switch’s maximum wattage rating. See the chart below for maximum load information.
MAXIMUM LOAD DERATING CHART (120 V~ 50/60 HZ)- The in-wall switch is ULR Listed for use with all magnetic and electronic fluorescent ballasts.
- The maximum lamp wattage is determined by the efficiency of the transformer, with 70%–85% as typical. For actual transformer efficiency, contact either the fixture or transformer manufacturer. The total VA rating of the transformer(s) shall not exceed the VA rating of the in-wall switch.
-
CONNECT THE SWITCH
- Connect the bare copper (or green) “ground” wire from the wallbox to the green wire on the switch using a wire connector.
- Connect the load wire from the wallbox to the red wire on the switch using a wire connector.

FAQs
Do I need a hub to control this with my phone?****
Yes, the Caseta Smart Bridge will be required to operate the PD-6ANS, or any other Caseta Wireless device, from the Lutron app on an iOS or Android smart phone.
I have a duplex horizontal toggle switch controlling to different lights independently. I need a smart switch to replace it. Which do you recommend?****
I don’t know of any single gang smart dimmer that has duplex function. This is because there is not enough space to package two sets of electronics in a single gang device.
Why does this particular switch require a hub to control away from home but other similar switches do not require a hub to control away from home?****
The Smart Bridge allows you to control your Caséta Wireless controls and Lutron Serena® remote controlled shades from anywhere with your smartphone, using the free Lutron App for Caséta Wireless.
I have two existing 3-way Lutron maestro dimmer switches for my stairs. can I replace one of the dimmer switches with this caseta switch?****
I don’t know if you can mix and match. I would call customer support they helped me.
What is the range on the remote?****
At least100 ft, I have them installed in my out building 100 ft away and they still work fine.
Would this work with a 3-speed floor fan?****
Yes, it will. I use this switch on an outlet that sometimes has a 3-speed fan plugged into it.
I have a rocker switch for my fireplace. Could I replace it with this switch and make it smart?****
Unfortunately, we do not recommend using digital switches to control fireplaces. Our Caseta switches are rated for lighting and fan motor loads. You can find more information about the ratings of our products on their specification sheets, which can be found on our support site: https://support.lutron.com/us/en/product/casetawireless?
can I use this for on off dusk to dawn control of external lights?****
Yes. You can also set it to an amount of time before or after dusk or dawn.
Does this work with a Double pole set up (two separate switches controlling one light)?****
No, that is for a single pole/single switch application. You need a three-way switch.
Do you need the echo do integrate with Alexa or can you just use the iOS app?****
No. You can control Caseta switches from your phone. I use Android but I’m sure the iOS app works just the same.
My existing old wringing doesn’t have a neutral. What another model / brand works without a neutral? I need to add a remote on/off light switch.****
If you can, I’d suggest locating a smart switch at a location with a neutral and using one of the Pico remotes at the location without the neutral. The remotes are totally wireless.
Can I use this to control my fireplace and the fan? They currently use regular light switches.****
It depends on if the switches currently in use are 120v. If they are then it should work. Sometimes fireplaces have switches that are switching lower voltages for control, 12v and 24v are some examples, if you have lower voltages to your switches then this device would not work.
Hi, can you create a 4-way scene? I have 2 rooms that have 4 switches for one load.****
You have 4 switches controlling the same load, right? Then you would have to install I caseta and 3 picos to make this work along with wiring through the other switches. Be careful!
Is this a two-Gang switch? That is, can it control two independent lights****
no, this is for a single outlet with a separate remote.
Can the remote turn on/off multiple light switches? (remote controls both switches in the starter pack)****
The remote will turn off as many switches as it is linked to. Keep in mind, it will also turn them on. It does not differentiate between switches. It either turns them on or off.
