Installation Instruction
Select a location for the wireless controller and power supply.
Verify that the power cord reaches a power outlet and the 24 cord reaches the
wireless controller
Mount the wireless controller
Option 1: Mount the wireless controller using the provided screws.
Option 2: Mount the wireless controller using the provided adhesive-
backed bracket that the module snaps into.
NOTE: Do not install wireless controller inside an enclosed metal cabinet.
Measure and cut the LED tape to the desired length at one of the marked locations
Clean the surface on which the LED tape will be adhered ensuring that it is dry and free of dust
Peel the backing off of the LED tape
Attach the LED tape to the surface starting at a point that allows the wireless controller to connect to the starting point of the LED tape. Press and hold for 10 seconds
Option 1: Mount the LED tape directly to the cabinet surface. If needed,
use screw-in mounting clips LU-MK1 (sold separately) with approximately 1 ft
(0.30 m) spacing as an additional means of securing the tape.
Option 2: Mount the LED tape in a channel (supplied by others) which is
then mounted to the cabinet surface.
NOTE: DO NOT twist or repeatedly bend the LED tape as this could cause
damage to the connections in the tape itself.
Connect the wireless controller to the LED tape
Insert the LED tape into the connector ensuring that the copper pads on the LED tape make contact with the pins in the connector and that the wire insulation color matches the color abbreviations on the tape (R=Red, W=White, B=Black). The connector should be closed using pliers. If the length of the wireless controller output cable must be extended, cut off the wire-to-tape connector and add cable using the provided wire spool and wire connectors. Follow step 8 for installation of the wires into the wire-to-tape connector.
NOTE: Align the edge of the connector with the line printed on the tape.
Join additional sections of LED tape to the series (optional)
-
Measure the length of cable needed to connect the tapes in their installed locations, noting that the maximum amount of cable allowed is 10 ft (3 m).
-
Cut the needed amount of cable from the 3-conductor cable.
-
Insert the three wires from the 3-conductor cable into the other side of the connector ensuring that they are fully inserted and the colors match those listed on the LED tape inserted into the other end of the connector. The connector should be closed using pliers.
-
Insert the LED tape into the connector as shown in Step 7.
Connect the 24 V cable into the wireless controller
NOTE: If the length of the 24V cable must be extended, cut the plug ends off both the power supply and the wireless controller and add cable of the appropriate gauge, from the table below to account for the distance. Confirm voltage polarity of the extended wire before connecting to the wireless controller. On the wireless controller Red 24V and Black = Common.
Maximum Wire Length From the Power Supply to the Wireless Controller: ft (m)
12 AWG (4.0 mm2)| 14 AWG (2.5 mm2 )| 16 AWG (1.0 mm2 )| 18
AWG (0.75 mm2 )| 20 AWG (0.50 mm2 )
42.5 (13)| 26.5 (8)| 17 (5.2)| 10.5 (3.2)| 6.5 (2)
Plug the power supply into a power outlet
NOTE: LED tape will illuminate to 20% intensity to allow for wiring verification. If the LED tape does not illuminate please refer to the Error Codes section for troubleshooting.
