INSTALLATION
Installing the Bracket or Corner Mount
Follow the steps to place the Bracket or optional Corner Mount on your door,
walls or frame.
The optional Corner Mount offers a 25° angle for a better view of the smart
doorbell, depending on the location. For the corner mount, we recommend a
height between 140 and 150cm for an ideal viewing angle. If using with the
wiring of an existing doorbell, consider the placement of the wiring when
measuring.
- Choose between two mounting options:
Recommended installation option: Screw and plug set.
Alternative option: Double-sided 3M tape, ideal for installing the Smart Doorbell on a smooth surface or if you do not want to drill permanent holes.
Installing with screw and plug set:
Use the Bracket or Corner Mount as a template to mark the hole placement.
If drilling into drywall or masonry, drill two holes for the plugs and insert them. Skip this step if installing on a wooden surface.
Mount the Bracket or Corner Mount with the screws set. If you choose to install with the Corner Mount, install it first, then place the bracket on the Corner Mount.
Installing with double-sided 3M tape:
Simply peel one side of the tape and place to the Bracket or Corner Mount. If
you choose to install with the Corner Mount, install it first, then place the
bracket on the Corner Mount.
Then peel the other side of the tape and stick to the desired location. Hold
firmly and allow to sit without the doorbell installed for 24 hours.
REPLACING A WIRED DOORBELL
Note: If your existing doorbell is not using a wired chime, it is not possible to connect the Smart Doorbell directly to the two wires. The Smart Doorbell can handle an alternative voltage of 12-24V. If you need help with this process or live in a region where it is illegal to work in the fuse box, hire a qualified electrician.
Connect wiring
Follow the steps below to connect your existing doorbell wires to the Smart
Doorbell.
- For a wired installation, insert the two wires through the upper large opening and hold the bracket or Corner Mount in the desired position.
- Loosen the screws on the back of the Smart Doorbell with approximately 3 rotations. Attach the wires of the old doorbell. Then tighten the screws firmly again.
Note: The colour of the wires does not matter. Also, it does not matter with wire you attach left and right. Make sure that the metal parts of the wires do not touch each other.
- If the existing wires are too short to connect to the back of your Smart Doorbell, please use the provided wire extenders and wire nuts. Strip the wire extender. insert together with the existing wire in the wire but and twist them together.
Place the Kogan Smart Doorbell into the bracket
Attach the Smart Doorbell to the bracket by inserting the top of the Smart
Doorbell into the bracket and then pressing the button side into the bracket.
Tighten the safety screw at the bottom with supplied an Allen key.
Turn on power with a wired installation (Optional)
Switch the power back on in the junction box back so that there is voltage on
your Smart Doorbell. Test whether your existing chime response to the Smart
Doorbell by pressing the button on the doorbell.
