OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Remove all packaging materials and take out the deep fryer with its
accessories. Remove all adhesive foils, stickers or paper from the deep fryer.
Before fi rst use clean the parts that will come in contact with food using hot
water with detergent, thoroughly rinse with clean water and wipe dry, if
necessary allow to dry.
Assembly of the individual parts (pic. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
- Insert the frying pot B into the body A.
- Control panel D with the heating element D1 insert into the pot B so that the guiding edges D2 on the control panel slide into the guiding grooves A1 on the body A (an audible click will be heard). If the control panel with the heating element is not correctly attached (inserted), the safety switch D8 will prevent the deep fryer from operating.
- Attach the handle C1 to the frying basket C by gently pushing the wires towards each other using your fi ngers and sliding the wires into the metal holders and then insert the bent out ends into the holder openings in the basket. Subsequently with gentle pressure secure the holder in place in the locked position (an audible click will be heard).
- Place the lid E on to the pot B so that the fi lter E3 is facing the control panel.
Following the reverse order you may again disassemble/remove all the parts (or if required assemble them).
Overheating protection
The deep fryer is equipped with a safety thermal fuse, which disconnects the
heating element if the deep fryer is turned on without a suffi cient amount of
oil or without any frying medium at all. If after connecting the deep fryer to
the electricity grid it does not work, disconnect it from the grid, remove the
control panel and using a suitable tool (e.g. a small screwdriver) press the
button D6 (RESET).
Place the assembled deep fryer on an even surface (e.g. kitchen table) at a
height of at least 85 cm, out of reach of children, connect the power plug D7
to the electrical grid – indicator lights D4 and D5 will turn on. Pour the
frying medium into the pot B up to the mark MAX. Using the control dial D3 set
the desired temperature (information about the required temperature is found
on the food label or in the table in this user’s manual). Allow the medium to
full heat up (approx. 10 minutes). The correct temperature is indicated by the
indicator light D5. Slowly place the full basket C into the pot B.
Subsequently close the lid E and the deep frying may begin. It is normal for
steam to be emitted from the lid during deep frying, this is not a defect. We
recommend that you regularly stir the foods while frying to prevent them from
sticking together. After fi nishing cooking the food turn the dial D3 to the
off position. Remove the lid so that you do not come into contact with hot
steam, pull the basket above the level of the frying medium and then hang it
in the storage position.
Allow excess oil to drip off the food.
Attention
While heating the thermostat may cycle (the indicator light turns on and off).
This is not considered to be a defect.
Preparation of fried foods
- It is necessary to dry wet foods that will be fried (e.g. in a towel). Always put spices on foods after frying, do not put on spices above the frying pot or during the course of frying.
- Some foods (meat, fi sh) can be battered. When battering pay attention that an even cover is achieved and that excess breadcrumbs are knocked away.
- Foods such as doughnuts, etc. can fl oat when being fried in the medium without the basket.
- Chickens etc. cut in half. This will prevent subsequent scalding when removing it from the basket.
- When frying foods such as French fries, select a higher temperature. On the other hand when frying bulkier foods such as chicken drumsticks or meat balls, select lower temperatures to ensure the foods are evenly fried inside.
- You will make the best French fries if you fry them in two stages. Before frying them a second time, allow the French fries to cool down.
- Do not place too many foods on top of each other, they could stick together.
- Remove excess ice from frozen foods.
- When frying foods in several stages, wait until the desired temperature is achieved before frying the next load, the indicator light will turn off.
- When frying several food types, start with those that require the lower temperature.
- When frying pre-fried foods, use a higher temperature and a shorter frying time than for raw foods.
- Do not fi ll the basket more than halfway, otherwise the temperature of the medium will fall and the frying result will not be optimal.
WARNING: When frying foods containing a large amount of water or frozen foods, lower the basket into the medium slowly, this will prevent the frying medium from boiling over.
After every frying session
We recommend that you fi lter or strain the lukewarm medium and transfer to
an appropriate container, close the container and store in the refrigerator –
this will prevent the formation of unwanted compounds.
WARNING: The hot frying medium will melt a plastic bottle, which presents
a hazard!
Please consider the following cooking tips as examples and as inspiration. Their purpose is not to be a guide, but to demonstrate the possibilities of various food preparation methods. Generally, it is recommended to use lower temperatures for brittle foods (vegetables, fi sh) and higher temperatures for frozen foods (French fries, chicken, etc.). Cooking times are in the range of several minutes.
Removing unpleasant odours
Some foods (e.g. fi sh) can give the frying medium an unpleasant odour. This
odour may be neutralised using the following method:
- heat the frying medium to a temperature of 160 °C,
- place a few shoots of parsley or two slices of bread into the medium,
- wait until “bubbles” stop forming, then using a suitable utensil remove the parsley or bread. The frying medium will now have a neutral taste.
Filtration or replacement of oil
It is not necessary to replace the oil after every use. If you fry mainly
potatoes and fi lter the oil, it is possible to reuse it 8-10x. Do not use the
same oil longer than 6 months. To carry out the fi ltration or replacement
proceed as follows:
- Disconnect the deep fryer from the electricity grid
- pour the fully cooled oil out of the pot B into another container with a suitable volume capacity
- wash and thoroughly dry the pot B
- pour the oil back through an appropriate fi ltration paper
MAINTENANCE
Before carrying out any maintenance disconnect the appliance from the power
grid by pulling out the plug on the power cord from the el. socket and allow
it to cool down! After each use wipe the outer surfaces with a soft damp
cloth. Do not use abrasive and aggressive cleaning agents and metal tools,
which could scratch the surface during cleaning. Every time the medium is
poured out remove any remains of fat or remains from previous frying that have
stuck to the heating element D1. Wash all other parts (cover, pot, basket,
handle, lid) in hot water with dish-washing detergent, and then rinse out with
clean water and allow it to fully dry (you may use a dishwasher). Never dry
plastic moulded parts above a heat source (e.g. fi re stoves, electric/gas
stoves, etc.). It is normal for the colour of the surface to change over time.
This change in no way changes the properties of the surface and is not a
reason for complaint about the appliance! Wipe the power cord D7 with a cloth.
Store the appliance thoroughly cleaned in a dry, dust-free location that is
out of reach of children and incapacitated persons.
Removing the fi lters (E3)
Pull gently to remove the cover from the lid E. Remove the fi lter E3 from the
lid. Wash the fi lter in lukewarm water with standard detergent and allow it to
dry thoroughly. When dry, place back into the lid. Insert the lugs on the
cover into the openings in the lid and click the cover shut.
