Product Usage Instructions

Locking/Unlocking the Mortise Lock:

  1. Ensure the power supply voltage is within the specified range.
  2. Toggle the switch on the front of the lock to select between FAIL SAFE and FAIL SECURE modes.
  3. Cycle power once after switching modes.
  4. Use the key cylinder (if available) to override electronics and retract the latch bolt when necessary.

Indicator Lights:
The onboard indicator lights provide information about the lock’s status:

  • Green Light: Power status
  • Yellow Light: Sensor status
  • Red Light: Error indication

Error Indications and Solutions:
Refer to the table provided in the manual for specific error indications and corresponding solutions.

FAQ

  • Q: How do I change the lock mode from FAIL SECURE to FAIL SAFE?
A: Toggle the switch on the front of the lock to select the desired mode, then cycle power once.

  • Q: What should I do if the main latch bolt does not retract as expected?
A: Check the indicator lights for error indications and follow the provided solutions in the manual.

  • Q: Can I use the lock without electrical power?
A: The lock may have manual override options, such as using a key cylinder if available, to retract the latch bolt without electrical power.

M9158E-ELR + M9159E-ELR: Mortise lock with motorized locking/unlocking (Fail safe or fail secure) with motor drive electric latch retraction.
Key Cylinder (by others) will override electronics to retract latch bolt.

ONBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT ASSIGNMENTS

ONBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT ASSIGNMENTS

GREEN (POWER)| YELLOW (SENSOR)| RED (ERROR)| INDICATION| POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Off| Off| Off| No Power.| Connect the wiring between the power supply and the mortise lock.
On| On| Off| Normal Operation. The main latch bolt is retracted to the preset retracted position. The device is allowed 2 attempts.|
On| Off| On| Error in operation. The main latch bolt did not retract to the preset retracted position within 2 attempts.| Clear the jam condition manually.
On| On| On| Error in operation. Without power being removed, the main latch bolt unintentionally extended from the preset retracted position, and then the main latch bolt did not retract back to the preset retracted position within 2 attempts.| Clear the jam condition manually.
On| Blink| On| Error in operation. The main latch bolt did not extend from the preset retracted position when the power was last removed. The device will not attempt a retraction.| Clear the jam condition manually.
On| Simultaneous Blink| Error in operation. The input voltage dropped below the specification during operation.| Decrease the wire run or increase the wire gauge.
On| Alternating Blink| Error in operation. An electronics fault was detected.| An electronics replacement is required.

Maintain input power to the mortise lock and check the onboard indicator lights. Remove input power before attempting a solution.
