Ermenrich NetGeeks NU 10 Optical Multimeter
Please carefully read the safety instructions and the user manual before using
this product. Keep away from children. Use the device only as specified in the
user manual.
The kit includes: optical multimeter, carry bag, user manual, and warranty.
Install batteries
Open the battery compartment cover and insert 3 batteries according to the correct polarity. Close the cover.
Getting started
Press the power button (4) and hold it for 3 seconds to turn the device
on/off.
Press the Auto button (7) to enable/disable the auto-off option (observe the
corresponding icon on the screen). When the auto-off option is enabled, the
device will automatically turn off in 60 minutes.
Optical power meter function
This function is intended to test optical power.
- Connect one end of the fiber cable end to the fiber optic connector (1) of the optical multimeter; connect the other fiber cable end to the corresponding connector of the external optical light source (external device).
- Turn on the external optical light source (external device).
- Press the J.. button (8) to select a wavelength value (850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm, 1490nm, 1550nm, or 1625nm). The wavelength value of the optical multimeter and the wavelength value of the light source must be the same.
- Press the dBm/W button (3) to select the units of measurement.
- Press the REF button (6) to display the last saved reference value (the default value is 0dB).
- Press the REF button (6) to measure the optical power. The result will be displayed on the screen.
- Press and hold the REF button (6) to save the value as a reference value.
Optical light source function
You can use this optical multimeter as an optical light source to test fiber optic cables with the use of another optical power meter (external device).
- Insert one end of the fiber cable to the fiber optic connector (1) of this optical multimeter.
- Connect the other cable into a corresponding connector of another optical power meter (external device).
- Press the button (8) to select a wavelength value (850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm, 1490nm, 1550nm, or 1625nm).
- Press the Light button (5) to turn the light source on or off, or it will automatically turn off in 60 minutes. The default wavelength value for the light source function is 1310nm.
- Proceed as described in the instructions of the optical power meter (external device).

Care and maintenance
This is a class II laser product. Please DO NOT look directly into the beam with unprotected eyes or through an optical device at any time and never direct it toward other people. Do not use the device if it is not working properly. Protect the device from sudden impact and excessive mechanical force. Store the device in a dry cool place. Please note that the parameters of the power supply must comply with the technical characteristics of the device. Do not try to disassemble the device on your own for any reason. For repairs and cleaning of any kind, please contact your local specialized service center. Only use accessories and spare parts for this device that comply with the technical specifications. Never attempt to operate a damaged device or a device with damaged electrical parts! If a part of the device or battery is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Battery safety instructions
Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use. Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time; taking care not to mix old and new ones, or batteries of different types. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation. Make sure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity(+ and-). Remove batteries from equipment that is not to be used for an extended period of time. Remove used batteries promptly. Never short-circuit batteries as this may lead to high temperatures, leakage, or explosion. Never heat batteries in order to revive them. Do not disassemble batteries. Remember to switch off devices after use. Keep batteries out of the reach of children, to avoid risk of ingestion, suffocation, or poisoning. Utilize used batteries as prescribed by your country’s laws.
