SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Please read these operating instructions carefully before first use and keep them in a safe place for future reference.

  1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  2. This appliance is not to be used by very young children (0-3 years). Children aged from 3 to 8 years should not be allowed to use this appliance without adult supervision and assistance.
  3. Do not use the appliance for any purpose other than its intended use.
  4. WARNING: Do not expose the appliance to extreme temperatures, strong temperature fluctuations, direct sunlight or humidity.
  5. Protect the appliance against impact, knocks and intense vibrations during storage or transport.
  6. Always place the appliance on a hard, dry, and flat surface before measurement.
  7. Always keep the surface of the appliance clean and dry before use.
  8. Do not overload the appliance.
  9. Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  10. Batteries must be inserted with the correct polarity.
  11. Exhausted batteries should be removed from the appliance and safely disposed of.
  12. If the appliance is to be stored unused for a long period, the batteries should be removed.
  13. The supply terminals should not be short-circuited.
  14. Never immerse the appliance in water or rinse it under running water.
  15. The marking of this device (symbol of a crossed-out dustbin) complies with European Directive 2012/19/EU relating to “used electrical and electronic equipment”. This marking means that this equipment, at the end of its useful life, cannot be disposed of with other household waste. The user is required to deliver it to operators who collect used electrical and electronic equipment. Collection operators, including local collection points, shops and local authorities, create an appropriate system for collecting equipment. Appropriate collection of used electrical and electronic equipment helps avoid harmful impacts on human health and the environment, resulting from the presence of hazardous components, as well as from improper storage and treatment of this equipment.
  16. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Dispose of old batteries in an environmentally friendly manner.

    Accidental battery ingestion may be fatal. If you suspect your child has swallowed a battery, seek medical attention immediately.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Before first use, remove the plastic insulation strip from the battery compartment and discard it. The battery is included inside.

Replace the battery when the low battery indication is displayed.

  1. On the underside of the device, loosen the battery compartment screw by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Push the clip in the direction of the arrow to open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Carefully pry up the accessible side of the battery using your fingernail or a flat tool.
  4. Insert a new battery (1x CR2032) into the compartment with the positive (+) side facing the cover.
  5. Close the battery compartment cover.
  6. Tighten the screw by turning it clockwise.
  7. Safely dispose of the old battery.

OPERATION

SETTING UP THE SCALE

  • Select the desired unit of weight by pressing the Unit button on the underside of the scale.
  • Place the scale on a solid, level and even floor surface.

CALIBRATING THE SCALE

Perform this calibration process only once, after placing or moving the scale on the floor:

  1. Tap the weighing platform once with your foot.
  2. Wait for the scale to turn on, display “0.0” and turn off. The scale is ready to use.

NOTE: The calibration process must be repeated one time if the scale has been moved. Thereafter, use the scale as normal.

USING THE SCALE

  1. Step on the scale barefoot and stand still. Keep your feet slightly apart and your weight evenly distributed on both legs.
  2. The scale will turn on and display your weight reading.
  3. Step off the scale. The display will reset to “0.0”. The scale will automatically turn off after approximately 6 seconds if there is no further weighing activity.

TIPS FOR USING THE SCALE

  • Place the scale on a hard and flat surface to ensure accurate readings and repeatability. Uneven floors can affect readings.
  • Try to weigh yourself on the same scale placed on the same floor surface to get consistent readings.
  • Weigh yourself without heavy clothing or shoes, and before meals. First thing in the morning is the best time.
  • Do not drop or jump on the scale to avoid injury or damage.

CLEANING AND CARE

  • Never use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects, or scouring pads to clean the appliance.
  • Clean the scale with a soft, moist cloth. Dry completely before using.
  • Do not store the scale upright when it is not in use, as this will drain the batteries. Do not place anything on the scale during storage.
  • Store the device in a cool and dry place. Keep away from children.

GUARANTEES

Guarantees and limitations of liability
Products are guaranteed for a period of 36 months from the date of purchase, or from the date of delivery to the customer’s home. Depending on the country, this guarantee consists of 24 to 36 months of validity for the legal compliance guarantee.
For countries that only implement a 24-month legal compliance guarantee, a 12-month commercial guarantee is applied at the end of the first guarantee, and supplements it.

For the commercial guarantee
Please go to the reception desk at your place of purchase with your proof of purchase (e.g. sales receipt), the product and the accessories it came with, and its original packaging, for all countries other than France. It is important to have the date of purchase, the model and the serial number or IMEI number to hand (this information is usually indicated on the product, packaging, or on your proof of purchase). You’ll need to bring back the product with the accessories needed for its correct functioning (power supply, adapter, etc.). If your claim is covered by the guarantee, the after-sales service may, within the limits of local law, either:

  • Repair or replace faulty parts.
  • Exchange the returned product with a product that has, at the least, the same features and that offers equivalent performances.
  • Refund the product at the price stated on the proof of purchase.

Repaired or replaced products may include new and/or reconditioned hardware and components.

Commercial guarantee exclusions:

  • Damages or problems caused by improper use, accident, tampering/modification or an unsuitable current or voltage connection.
  • Use or storage conditions which are detrimental to the good conservation of the appliance (oxidation, corrosion), use of energy, use or installation non-compliant with the manufacturer’s instructions, or negligence or use of peripherals, software or consumables which are unsuitable.
  • Professional or collective, industrial or commercial use of the product.
  • Products that have been modified, or which have damaged, altered, erased or oxidised guarantee seals or serial numbers.
  • Replaceable batteries and accessories are guaranteed for 6 months.
  • Battery failure, caused by overcharging or by failure to follow the safety instructions set out in the manual.
  • Cosmetic damage, including scratches, bumps or vandalism.
  • Damage caused by any servicing operations carried out by non-authorised persons.
  • Faults caused by normal wear and tear or the normal ageing of the product: seals, filters, accessories, vacuum cleaner brush and hose, lamps, overhead projector lamps, washing machine paddles, etc.
  • Software updates as a consequence of changes to network settings.
  • Damage caused by elements external to the appliance (foreign bodies, insects, etc.).
  • The contents of the devices – freezer, washing machine, etc. (food, clothing, etc.)
  • Product failure caused by the use of third-party software to modify, change, adapt or alter the product as is.
  • Product failure resulting from its use without the accessories supplied with the product or approved by the Manufacturer.
  • Parts for normal wear and tear or damage from use: tyre, inner tube, brake, etc

The customer is responsible for regularly backing up the data contained on their hard disk or in the internal memory of their device, and this before any claim is submitted.
Buchanan cannot be held liable for the loss or destruction of stored data, nor may it be held liable for damage caused to software resulting from, in particular, a restoration or a breakdown. Similarly, Buchanan is not required to check that SIM/SD cards have been removed from returned products.

Under no circumstances shall the provisions set out above reduce or eliminate: the legal guarantee referred to above, and the manufacturer’s commercial guarantee, if applicable (see guarantee form).
