MoTrade AUDI A1 Wireless Car Play Android Auto
AUDI A1/Q3 With Original Navigation
The interface is connected via a connecting cable with sockets. It is estimated that it takes about 30-45 minutes of work to connect the interface. When purchasing the interface, we take care of the correct settings. No programming required. The interface uses the existing microphone.
Tools Needed
Installation Instruction
Step 1. Make sure the power is off
Turn off the ignition and close the doors. Wait until the display is
completely off.
The power is now off so you don’t get error messages when changing plugs.
Step 2. Check the AUX or AMI port for sound
The sound of the interface is through the AUX or AMI port. Check this port by
connecting a sound source to it. If no sound comes out, the AUX port must be
activated via an AMI-AUX cable. Just plugging it in is enough (not connecting
to anything).
(example AMI-AUX cable).
Step 4. Remove the bottom cover near the handlebar (unclip)
Detach the left side panel from the dashboard and then the cover plate under
the steering wheel. Lower it down. The plate is clicked into place at a
limited number of points.
Step 5. Unplug the multimedia player (pull)
Using the release keys, pull the multimedia unit forward. Insert the keys
straight on the outside into the slots.
Disconnect the large black power strip from the multimedia unit by pressing the tab of the plug, pressing the lever down slightly, and then pulling. The power strip will then come out on its own. In the rare case, the optical cable is in the power strip instead of next to it, transfer it to the other power strip.
Press the pink video connector at the bottom into the latch. Pry very gently with a small flat object between the seam if the plug is very tight. This is where the new video cable will be placed. Transfer the vacated plug to the socket of the new video cable.
Step 6. Mount the PCB in the navigation unit
Make sure there is no power on the navigation unit.
Unscrew the cover, unscrew the CD player and mount the circuit board in the
navigation unit. See video.

Insert the plug of the cable that goes to the new PCB through the grille and attach it to the PCB.
Step 7. Connect the video cables of the interface (plugs)
This can only be done in 1 way.
Step 8. Insert the antenna (paste)
Stick the Wi-Fi antenna in a free space against plastic (not to metal or the
interface itself).
Step 9. Position the USB cable (conduct)
Determine the most desired position of the USB plug. Route the USB cable to
that position, for example at the level of the fellow passenger’s knee.
Step 10. Connect all cables (plugs)
Connect all cables to the interface (external microphone, antenna, power
supply, USB, video plugs). The black canbus plug is next to the orange optical
cables. Pull out this canbus plug (press the tab on the side) and replace it
with the brown connector of the interface. Connect the released plug to the
socket.
Step 11. Test the system (operate)
Test the system on at least the following points:
- Graphical representation
- sound
- Switching between radio and interface (press info button for a few seconds)
- Gear in reverse
- ring
For sound, the radio must first be set to AUX or AMI. If there is no sound, this port still needs to be activated.
Check the position of the dip switches in case something is not functioning properly. After changing a dip switch, the power must be drawn from the unit (power plug out/in).
Step 12. Assemble the Interface (Places)
If everything is working properly, place the interface behind the radio. There
is enough space at the bottom for concealing the unit and the plugs.
Tip: Secure the microphone plug with tape on the interface. This one shoots
out relatively easily.
Step 13. Rebuild the system (press and click)
Note: Push the cables away in the available space and make sure that they
cannot get caught or be in front of a screw hole!
Step 14. Connect the interface to your phone
Disconnect the Bluetooth connection from the AUDI. Connect to the bluetooth of
the Carplay interface (0000) and turn on Wifi and Carplay on your phone.
The interface itself builds up a Wi-Fi connection via the Bluetooth
connection. The system is basically ready.
Step 15. Enjoy!
