GENERAL INFORMATION

INTRODUCTION

WARNING

  • Observe all the safety information, instructions, illustrations and technical data that were supplied with the saw buck. Failure to comply with instructions may lead to serious injuries.
  • Keep the operating instructions in a safe place for future reference.
  • These operating instructions describe the Saw Buck 5119000 (the “product”). The purpose of the illustrated figures in this manual is to help you better understand the descriptions and step sequences. The representations in the figures are examples and may deviate slightly from the actual appearance of your product.

SYMBOLS AND MEANINGS

  • WARNING
    …means that there is risk of severe to life-threatening injury.

  • CAUTION
    …means that there is risk of minor to moderate injury.

  • NOTICE
    …indicates important information (e.g. risk of property damage), but not hazards.

  • Information
    This symbol indicates information that helps you to quickly and safely perform your tasks.

  • Warning of a danger
    This symbol indicates a general hazard that, if not avoided, could result in injury.

  • Risk of crush injuries to hands
    This symbol indicates hazardous situations that could result in hand injuries.

  • Observe instructions!
    This symbol indicates that the operating instructions must be followed.

The following additional symbols can be found in the instructions and on a sticker on the left supporting leg:

  • Wear hearing protection, head protection and safety goggles.
    This symbol indicates that you have to wear hearing protection, a protective helmet and safety goggles or a visor.

  • Wear protective equipment.
    This symbol indicates that you have to wear protective equipment (protective helmet, safety goggles or visor, hearing protection, (woodworking) gloves, safety trousers and safety footwear).

  • Do not use as a step, ladder or support.

  • Only use on a flat and solid horizontal surface.

  • Caution: Only suitable for parallel cuts.

  • Maximum load: 100 kg

  • Caution: Always use stop bar when working.

  • Before using the saw buck, always check that it is in perfect condition.

SAFETY

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

  • When using a chain saw, only one person may work at the saw buck.
  • To ensure stability, the saw buck must only be used on a flat and solid horizontal surface. Otherwise there is a risk of the saw buck tipping over.
  • The safety regulations of the machine manufacturers are binding. Failure to follow the operating instructions for the machines can be life-endangering.
  • Use only approved machines.
  • Unplug all electric chainsaws before carrying out maintenance work or when not in use.
  • Before starting work, check that the saw buck, machines and tools are operational and correctly assembled (e.g. threaded connections).
  • Never work with damaged or blunt tools.
  • Secure the wood with the stop bar before sawing it. Working without the stop bar is not permitted.
  • Make sure that your footing is secure when using a machine.
  • Only use machines and tools for their actual intended purpose in accordance with the operating instructions.
  • Do not make any technical modifications to the saw buck.
  • Never remove installed safety equipment.
  • Make sure that your clothes are close fitting (particularly sleeves) and protect your hair. Tie up long hair.
  • Always wear personal protective equipment, such as an approved protective helmet, safety goggles or visor, hearing protection, (woodworking) gloves, safety trousers and safety footwear, when working.
  • Never reach into machines that are in operation.
  • Keep children away from your work area and store your machines and tools securely.
  • Keep other people away from your work area while sawing.
  • Never allow inexperienced people to use your machines and tools without instruction or supervision.
  • When sawing, always maintain adequate clearance between the chainsaw blade and the steel elements of the saw buck.
  • Always work to plan and in a concentrated way.
  • The two wooden boards keep the saw buck stable and protect the chainsaw from making contact with the ground. If the saw buck is no longer stable, for example because the wooden boards have been damaged by cuts, etc., the wooden boards must be replaced with genuine wolfcraft® spare parts.
  • Only use genuine wolfcraft® spare parts.
  • To protect the wooden boards from the elements, you can apply a wood stain to them before the first use. Reapply the protective stain once a year.
  • When not in use, collapse the saw buck and store it protected from rain, moisture and UV radiation.
  • The saw buck is not suitable for the long-term storage of logs.
  • Before working, always open the saw buck as far as the folding guard will allow to ensure stability.
  • Do not use the saw buck as a step, ladder or support.
  • Caution: The chainsaw blade length must be at least 33 cm!
  • Caution: Always watch out for falling pieces of wood and maintain enough of a safety distance to avoid injuries.

INTENDED USE

  • Use the saw buck to process logs with chainsaws in accordance with
  • DIN EN ISO 11681 and DIN EN 60745 and with hand saws.
  • The saw buck is suitable for sawing logs 1 m in length and up to 27.5 cm in diameter. After sawing, the logs are 25 cm or 33 cm in length.
  • The logs must only be sawn parallel; angular cuts are not permitted. The stop bar holds the logs securely in the saw buck.
  • Any use other than that intended shall be considered misuse.

REASONABLY FORESEEABLE MISUSE

  • Do not saw logs more than 1 m in length or 27.5 cm in diameter.
  • Do not saw round timber.
  • Do not make angular cuts.
  • Do not load the saw buck with more than 100 kg of logs.
  • Do not overfill the saw buck and do not saw logs without the stop bar in place. The manufacturer does not accept any liability for property damage or personal in-jury resulting from reasonably foreseeable misuse or from failure to observe the operating instructions.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Saw Buck 5119000 is suitable for processing logs with hand saws and chain- saws. The maximum load of the saw buck is 100 kg.

SCOPE OF DELIVERY
Take the Saw Buck 5119000 out of the cardboard box and check that the contents are complete and all illustrated parts are included (page Fig. 1).

ASSEMBLING THE SAW BUCK

CAUTION

  • Risk of crush injuries to fingers and hands during assembly
  • There is risk of shear movements when assembling moving parts, especially when screwing the supporting legs together.
  • Pay attention to your hands during assembly work. If necessary, ask a second person to assist you.
  • Assemble the saw buck as shown in the illustrations (Fig. 2).
  • When joining the two supporting legs, make sure that the sleeve 8×26 is in the correct position (Fig. 2.1 and Fig. 2.5).
  • To complete the assembly, check that all screws are securely fastened.

OPERATION

SETTING UP AND FILLING THE SAW BUCK

  • Pull the supporting legs apart (Fig. 4.1 and Fig. 4.2).
  • Place the saw buck on a stable, flat surface (Fig. 5.1).
  • Remove the stop bar (Fig. 5.2).
  • Fill the saw buck with logs no more than 1 m in length (Fig. 5.3).
  • Note the correct position of the logs depending on the desired log length:
    • For 25 cm logs: 32 cm from the right front tube end (Fig. 5.5).
    • For 33 cm logs: 26 cm from the right front tube end (Fig. 5.6). Push the stop bar onto the right supporting legs (Fig. 5.4).

SAWING

WARNING

  • Risk of injury from working without stop bar.
  • Working without the stop bar may lead to serious injuries. Working without the stop bar is not permitted.
  • a) Attach the stop bar whenever sawing.

CAUTION
Risk of injury from falling logs.
Watch out for falling logs and maintain enough of a safety distance to avoid injuries.

  • Wear your protective equipment whenever using the saw buck (Fig. 5.7).
  • Always observe the following cutting sequence when sawing:
    • 25 cm log: Saw to the left of the saw buck first, then to the right. Finally, saw in the middle between the supporting legs of the saw buck (Fig. 5.5 and Fig. 5.7).
    • 33 cm log: Saw to the left of the saw buck first. Then saw in the middle between the supporting legs of the saw buck (Fig. 5.6 and Fig. 5.7).
  • Detach the stop bar after sawing and remove the sawn logs (Fig. 5.8).

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

  • Clean the saw buck with a dry cloth if necessary.
  • Do not use aggressive and/or scouring cleaning agents or solvents.

DISASSEMBLY AND DISPOSAL
Always dispose of the packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner. In the event of disposing of the Saw Buck 5119000, observe local disposal regulations.
